There would be not one but two wild donkeys that would present themselves as the meal for the day. As the group grew, Eisa was rather over-confident with the ability of the lions to take the beasts down. She hadn't really hunted donkey's, and wasn't quite prepared for the challenge they ended up presenting them with, but she persisted with the hunt- enjoying it. This- this is what Eisa lived to do- hunt. She would rather never fight in another battle again, honestly, but that probably wasn't very realistic - as far as it went with protecting the Brook, and her home.

When the donkeys were dead, she would wait her turn to take a chunk of meat, and head back to the Brook.

Little did the young valour-greyflood know that they would be joined by several other scents of amaryllis. There were a few from the summit that sat at a distance, her eyes traveling over @Virgil, @Isla ♔ and @Caltáriel. Feeling their presence in strength and also in kindness; she knew they were a tough bunch, they were her grandmothers children and family. They had to be like them in some way or another, different variations of the same.

Quietly she closed her eyes and took a second to search for their specific scent among the many. Observing the many different scents that were present, both rogue and not-friendly, before she eventually found the one that was very specifically the summit. The closest ally that Vermeda had and a scent worth remembering. One that she wanted to be able to immediately pick out of a crowd if she ever needed to. When you had one less eye and its vision, using your other senses was a lot more important.

Eventually their hunt was underway and finished, Analia kept a ridiculously close quarter with @Eisa. Never leaving her side in the event that something more aggressive happened here and left with her as hastily as she could. exit analia

Those that had gathered were plentiful and of so many different prides, leaving her with a lot of small interactions. It seemed that these hunts was when no one cared about their relationship with another pride. None of them were at each others throats like they were at pride challenges. An odd discovery so that she was rather surprised to make but as each of the individuals managed to down two of the donkeys, Laerra began to make a quiet and disguised retreat. Managing to drown her entire body in the dust and dirt of the ground as she did so, rolling her way around in it to make her scent even more unrecognizable. As though she were a rogue living primarily in the badlands of amaryllis. She supposed she might have, in another life, but she was happy to be where her sister was and surprisingly, happy to have a place in the bluffs. exit laerra

How delightful it was to have so many for such a challenging prey. Caltáriel struggled to hold her own against the thrum of angry hoofbeats, dodging the violent kicks of a donkey desperate to live. There were almost enough of them to bring down a whole herd, if they wished; but they were not picky, they were strategic, and she was joined by a few others as she brought the beast down to heel. The winter had not been particularly kind to it; it was skinnier than they were in the summer. But it would be enough, and that's all that mattered in the grand scheme of things.

They gathered quickly, though it did little to ease the thrumming of the lioness' heart. Faster, faster, before her morsel got wise! She mirrored the smile of the first lioness who approached, easily able to sort her as a suspected Miroslav due to her patchwork coat and scent of sand. Something simmered there in her chest like motivation, though its raw poignance hinted at something more – a desire to prove herself, perhaps. Léonie's appearance did nothing to quell that burning, though she did bring a new, fond light to Sedona's eyes. A more philosophical cat might have wondered if this was what it was like to have sisters.

“What’s for lunch, ladies?”

"Tu mamá," your mom, was the last thing she uttered before lurching forward to begin the chase. Early morning allowed for the entirety of her energy to be used there, her lean muscles rippling under her thick coat and her gait long and bounding. She sprinted breathlessly after their quarry, and finally, they were able to cut off a pair of donkeys from their herd and take them down with brutish, unrelenting force. Overkill, perhaps, but the carnivores were hungry. There was no room for restraint when a single hoof to the skull would spell the end for a lion.

"Make sure there is enough for all," Sedona panted as their game was finished. She was not above a tussle against anyone taking more than they were owed. Shooting a watchful eye at them, she finally allowed her attention to linger upon the looming figure of her berry-hued brother. "Toma un poco para la familia, de mí," take some for the family, from me. She did not wait for his acceptance, only reached to the closest fallen ass and bent her neck down to rip a modest piece from its shoulder. Attempting to bump her own shoulder against Tomas's, she would drop her share at his paws.

"Adios, Apestoso," bye, Stinky.

as usual, it was quick - and it wasn't until it was over, the rush of adrenaline awash over him, that he saw @Asteria. beetle had the good sense to look embarrassed, knowing that his mother could be overprotective, though it didn't stop him moving in on as many odd parts as he could rightfully grab. none was for him.

"it- it's f-for cent and the girls," he explained as he brushed past his mother, imploring. "i'll t-t-take this home." a soft purr, a flick of the tail, and he darted away before he could be admonished for being reckless at his age. it had worked out, after all!

Aspen regards him formally, which makes the young lion swell with pride. He belongs here, in a hunt, with the matriarch. He is Sunstalker and he will not let her down.
The hunt happens quickly after that, the donkeys are taken down and Spark rises from one with a bloody grin. Turning to Swiftwillow as if to say, did you see that? but she already has her head in the carcass. Eager to eat himself, Spark moves over to feast next to her, making sure not to take too much as there are certainly more lions than there are bites of donkey. This doesn't bother him though, as it's really the chase and the victory he's after - rather than the meat itself. He takes a few scraps, and wonders if Aspen will want to stick around when they're done.

The donkeys fall to them. It ends it blood and ruin. Screams of the prey echo through the valley. Bones shatter beneath Harou's jaws. The crimson stains his lips, dripping down his ivory chest. The blood moistens his fur. It's wet and it feels delicious. He revels in the sensation of blood. He's not really eating his food either, he's mostly playing with it. His gaze moves over to @Swiftwillow, addressing her with a silent greeting. When Harou is satisfied he gets up and shakes out his bloodied fur. He comes across another boulder and sharpens his talons on it. He seeks to leave quietly then, to continue his running exercise through the terrain.

The donkeys were easy to catch; they make for a tasty meal. Their tender flesh yields to his teeth. It feels soft, and delicious, as he tears into the herbivores. Blood saturates his mouth. It's thick and hot and slides easily across his tongue. He revels in the bloody sensation. His fangs are dipped in so much blood. It collects beneath his chin and trickles down his chest. The prey's screams still echoes in his ears. He always feels thrilled before the chase. Now the hunt dies down, and the gathering begins to thin. He's quiet, as he steps away from the carcass, shaking out his thick mane. He sharpens his talons across a nearby boulder. Then he's off, running in the darkness, continuing his exercise.

he notes the stare of a dark-pelted lioness who reeks of the brook, but doesn’t recognize @Analía beyond that. he stares back, a little perturbed, but happy to be distracted by getting to kick some ass. literally. there’s two donkeys and it’s absolutely overkill, but whatever — a hunt was a hunt was a hunt. and this was his last hunt of the double exp, so he was pretty excited about that. with it all completed he gives a stretch — there’s not gonna be much food to divvy up, so he doesn’t really sweat it. let the others fight over the scraps, he was gonna go nap somewhere a little more scenic. better here than the summit, though; he’d stay out and about a little while longer, his feelings still hurt from the bomb his mother had dropped on him.

nah, he was much happier taking a nap then worrying about… life.
