While he had not quite hit his intended mark, the pain that bloomed white-hot and searing across his head from the impact told of apparent success. And yet, it had been ages since Farrow had fought, and his symbolic loyalty to the Brook was only just that; he was no longer quite the warrior he once was, and by the skin of his teeth and the skills he'd carried through the years were his only hopes of winning against younger, stronger lions. However, it did not deter him, and Farrow would sooner go down fighting than he would bearing witness to Cassandra's cubs being taken from them.

Both @Renfri's jaws and claws find his flank, just before his hips. An agonized snarl echoed through his lips, fresh wounds hastily overlapping old ones, the ends of her claws catching onto his flesh while her teeth slipped through the bloodied and torn-open skin. With his head near her ribs, Farrow did not have to turn much, at least, and instead he attempted to bite down on the very flesh of her ribs he was already nearby. His intention was less to grab and hold, given the flatness of her flank, but rather to try and do the same as she; to try and rake his teeth along her tender flesh.

The argument continues. "After what? After whatever he could have done to you in the Mire?" She went on. Why did she care? Helah's teeth flashed as she growled. She wanted to scream. "Why are you so stubborn?" She growled. Just agree with me already. I'm right, duh.

Revna whirls around, as Helah's shoulder finds her chest. She hadn't even a seconds warning, with Revna's forehead slammed into hers. "Fuck!" Her eyes welled with liquid from impact, and she huffed. She growled, shaking her head, before she would aim with her left paw a heavy swipe to Revna's head- claws sheathed, but wanting to strike her well enough that she didn't headbutt again. That was a dick move. Helah is tired. Helah is confused and she just wants to win- to make Revna understand the thing that Helah herself doesn't.

This would be easier with tooth and claw.

"What could he have done to me?" she demands. She is strong. A warrior. He would have had to fight tooth and nail to do anything to her. And would the entire pride really have sat around and allowed it? She cannot make herself think that every member of the Mire is as horrible as the few Rike that live there. Perhaps she is too stubborn in her sentiments for her own good.

She does not relent - cannot relent - even as she begins to tire from this burst of violence. Her head impacts with Helah's and it brings tears to both her eyes. They are not built for such things as ramming each other with their heads. But at least she manages to draw some fowl language from her opponent with the move.

She is disoriented enough from her own attack that she does not see Helah's paw as it swings towards her. The limb slams into the side of her head and her vision goes black for a moment. Her balance vanishes and she feels her limbs crumble beneath her. When her vision returns she has fallen to her side and her head aches fiercely. There is no counter attack from the former Sigrun. Her head swims and she does not think her balance will hold if she tries to stand.

Her jaws would once again find purchase on his muzzle, and she'd find pleasure in knowing she had caused more wounds on this bastard's body. Claws slashed against his chest, drawing blood in their wake as well. She was not a lioness to be taken lightly or underestimated. She was a Greyflood, and battle was in her veins as much as the softness of Valour was as well. Protecting those who called the Brook home was her duty - one she was glad to do so in moments like this. The Queen had vowed to protect those who resided within, and she would do what she could to uphold that promise.

She would feel him aim to shove her down to the ground, and he would be successful in forcing her forelegs back to the ground - but the Brook Queen would not yield. She refused to fall to the ground in a fight ever again, knowing that that had been what had caused her downfall in her own challenge for the Mire two years ago now. Claws dug into the ground and she grunted as his weight pressed on her. Front legs shook slightly, but she refused to yield to the larger male. His claws raked down her shoulders as he tried to push her to the ground, and a feral snarl ripped from her jaws as he did so. Scars on her right shoulder were reopened somewhat, and bled freely as did all the wounds he had inflicted upon her.

Unable to lift her paws to attack with claws since they were holding her weight up, Cassandra knew she had to find another way to attack him - and the only thing available was her head. Aiming to move it from the position it had fallen in when she was pushed back to all fours, she would aim to lunge her head upwards into his throat if she could, in an attempt to drive him off of her and to potentially affect his breathing if she could do so as well.

Truthfully, he had no reason to take any interest in Vermeda Brook’s challenge aside from potentially stealing away with a couple new members for the Lagoon. Members he had been promising Tiamat since she gave him the Noble title. Truthfully, he did not remember who lived within the Brook, and he did not think he’d roll up on a familiar face…

That was, until he saw that beautiful split-colored lioness… Yes, the one he saw at the Mire war.

Caelum licked his lips. She was all alone, sitting at the sidelines of the chaos around her, looking about nervously. Surely, she’d find comfort in a familiar face?

Memories of his fight with her mate flashed into his mind, but a quick sweep of the area told him that the male was not here. And if he was, well then, it might be round two. Caelum was a sucker for pretty girls after all, and @Dhaveira (though he didn’t know her name) was just his type. Quiet, meek, and obedient.

“Hello beautiful,” he grumbled, stopping beside her. His large frame would do well to protect her for the moment… until she’d need protection from him.

He is late to the call, despite his best efforts. Wolfgang emerges from the grasses to find the fight already well underway. There were plenty from the brook already present. The queen - who he did not yet know by sight, but could guess by assumption - was in battle with a large red lion. Wolfgang reviews the smaller fights peppered around the vermeda border with a sort of tired indifference - he was interested in the outcome, not the politics. Many wars he had seen in his years, and this was yet another that would not bother him. He had not even been in the brook very long, and although he appreciated its security and comforts, he didn't yet feel a strong or lingering loyalty to it.

So Wolfgang settles to observe, a neutral stocisim upon his dusty features.

Much like Rio, Zoltan is a curious and idiotic male. A call for a challenge goes up, and he wants to see - so he washes his scent from his pelt in the river nearby, then rubs against the trees on the way in, covering himself in the scent of pine and the Brook pride before wandering in as if he lives there.

Oh, it is all kicking off by the time Zoltan saunters into the scene, quickly finding @Riordan in the crowd and sliding up to the bigger man’s side. "Does this happen at every challenge?" He asks his companion, for once in his life relaxed at the sight of fighting around him. This isn’t a war - and it isn’t his problem - so Zoltan finds it amazingly easy to just sit, slouching against Rio’s meaty shoulder, to watch the battles as if they’re some sort of entertainment.

"The feathers suit you, by the way." He grins, looking at the blue Savante from the corner of his red eye, snickering.

He'd settled himself down in a patch of particularly springy grass once he'd also rolled around in some particularly fragrant flowers. Zoltan was late as ever, and would plop down beside him without a care in the world. The sight had him rolling his eyes before the pale beast could even begin to talk.

"You're heavy, fat ass." but there were no venom in his words, and the spotted man didn't move an inch to push the tabby-faced warrior off of him. Riordan wouldn't say it, but this was quite comfortable. A chuckle rumbled in his chest and a one-shouldered shrug would be given in response. "Not sure. Only been to a few at this point, but these folks seem to be keen on a good fight." golden stare would trace the fighting forms present, even cluing in on the drama between an unknown woman and the lady named Helah they'd met at the Passage.

When Zolt mentioned the feathers, Riordan's skin heated up, and he'd feel his fur prickle along it. Not uncomfortably, but enough to make him fidget a bit. "Uh thanks. Figured I'd try it out, but I dunno..." he was stumped for words to tack on or witty comebacks for the moment. Damn you, @Zoltan and your sharp eyes.

This queen is a nobody to Amaroq. And it's easy to hurt strangers; to hurt someone, when no emotions were involved. Amaroq's attacks would connect against her, and he savours the queen's taste against his tongue. It urges him to a greater frenzy, as he tries to consume her, violently. He's back on the ground now, after leaving a trail of lacerations upon her. Both their blood saturates the air, heavy and poignant as crimson mist. His bleeding maw feels pinched by a vice, as he feels his own blood continue to drip down his face.

She then slams herself into the curve of his neck, pressing into his thick mane and bruising his skin there. It takes the breath away from him temporarily, as pain flares, followed by a numbing, pulsating sensation. He's stunned and breathless for a moment, before he regains himself, attempting to reposition so he can aim for her face. Amaroq doesn't back down, and even as the tiredness begins to set, he's fueled by testosterone and adrenaline. This time, he's attempting to snap forward and wrap his fangs anywhere around her nose bridge or muzzle; he's attempting to hold her down, to grip into her if he can.
