it was morning when she picked up the scent. racing through the jungle as she worked to improve her stamina -- leaping fallen logs and making sure her body would be sore tomorrow -- she had come across the trail of the herd. abandoning her exercise she had turned towards the path and the hunt was on.

asteria had tracked them from the jungle. she had set off from secondstone with the intent of bringing back a decent kill, and the numerous footprints in the soft earth had told of a herd that had come too close to the jungle to avoid detection. they had set off towards the fields, no doubt en route to the watering hole, and asteria had followed.

low to the ground, keeping downwind, and studying the tracks as they went. pausing every so often to roll on the ground, seeking to rid herself of as much lion stench a possible. once she was in prime position she waited, crouched lower and well hidden, hoping others would join to assist.

Leila had been following the prints too, though not as far as the lioness she soon saw up ahead. She had a dark pelt and striped socks - tigerlike - but judging by the mane and quality of her coat, she was definitely a lioness. The lack of scent, disguised by mud, had made the guess a little harder than usual.

Leila snuffles a quiet tiger noise as she approached, her paws carefully placed and quiet. The scent of prey was close - it had been what zeroed her in to this nook of the fields on the promise of a hunt. Brown eyes settled on @Asteria, seeking permission to join in. She had yet to be chased away by any unfamiliar lions yet though, and so Leila took a stealthy position, ready to move on a moment's notice.

he is a hulking beast, a monster descended from on high. ice and snow clings to the length of his mane, refusing to melt even as he pushes through the long grasses of the field. the day is too bright but his hunger is fierce, and so he joins the others. a tiny sprite of a lioness and a tiger; the latter earns a lingering look if only out of sheer curiosity.

soon enough his focus shifts, though, and he breaths deep of the scent of prey.

"you can smell them, bjorn?" he grins, wicked, as he mumbles his prayers beneath his breath. "give us the strength, even those here that do not yet know you. give them the sight you have so graciously gifted me. let their paws move on the path you choose, so that we might feast." and his stomach rolled in answer, ready to be satiated.

2 years, ranger level 4 Hunting will always be her passion, her main source of entertainment and she was more than willing to help out whoever needed extra paws in a hunt. And it never mattered who she helped, hunts had no politics included, a free for all event. And as such the lioness gave those present a soft smile, eyes warm and positive disposition on her side. It had been a whole since she joined others in a hunt, mostly because she had been busy exploring and finding herself on the way. Calmly she prepared herself to help these lions secure a meal. Hoping she could get some of it back with her for later on. And like that she lowered her body, ready to use her speed and more agile frame to chase down whatever was on the menu. // Vague about pride status

With the summer heat winding down a little, the blackened lion found it easier to venture out during the day. The sun wasn't as glaring, though the air around him was still warm. It was a perfect day to do a little training as the yearling trekked the open fields. Though, he'd been enjoying a lot of climbing lately, flatland was a good chance to test some other skills. Strength was nothing without endurance, and so Hero had set out to do a bit of jogging across Celosia. It was a perfect place to run without worry of wandering into someone's territory, just to see how long he could last. Only when he caught wind of a group of lions gathering did the boy put a pause on his training.

Nearing the group cautiously, the Hodari wasn't opposed to taking part in a hunt away from actual pride lands. It was a little harder to coordinate, but still just as rewarding. Besides, depending on what they were chasing down, he could use it as another opportunity to stretch his limbs. The one leading things was vaguely familiar, having not had many interactions with @Asteria while they were both in Obsidian, or at least Hero had been fairly young then anyway, but the realization didn't click on the spot. Still, somehow that feeling drew him closer to the group, keeping an eye on things to see when it might get started.

The small yearling had been working on improving her hunting skills, she wanted to make up for her reduced size and become a very experienced hunter. She wanted to prove others what she could do, make them see past her physical limitations and just notice she knew what she was doing. With settled goal, she didn't hesitate to getting herself into this groups hunting event, focused and her mind already brain storming any tactics or ways to hunt.

She was not any expert nor she would claim to be. In fact her knowledge was basic, a thing she wanted to change over time.

But a thing she did know was to use the wind. To walk against it , to avoid alerting any prey with her scent. Sniffing the ground she asked to follow the scent of any prey,

another day, another hunt.

this one, too, he stumbles upon by complete chance. there must be an itch in his paws to send him scouting across the greenlands, especially in such frequency. perhaps a part of him was longing for… something. something different, something other than the shore. a shame, then, that these lands did not like him either. each step is fraught with a sniffle as his allergies seem to rear their ugly head here, more than anywhere else. maybe it’s because of the warm weather, maybe it’s because of the vast ocean of grass that makes up the fields. ugh, whatever. he suffers through if only to get a better lay of the land, noting the landmarks that dot the fields and the places that have the lowest grass.

the group is small as he steps forward to join them, a small chuff rumbling from deep in his throat. the noise was quiet and unassuming, in perfect opposition to the rest of him. still, he’s happy to be the brawn to these others’ brain — ready to be pointed in a direction and go.

the fields stretch out before him, extravagant and grand. an endless sea of grass that seemingly stretches from one end of the island to the other. to him, the aimless warrior, it is like embarking on a new journey. every where he visits on this island is new, exciting — he prays it will last for a little longer still. his muscles still protest all the moving though, aching quietly as he pushes himself forward and forward still. he stumbles upon the group seemingly by accident — he arrives, already a little breathless, but the growing crowd can mean only one thing. a hunt, before the temperatures dipped too far down. sucking in a deep breath to steady himself, kazimir rolls heavy shoulders as he falls towards the back of the pack, muttering quietly. духи, благословите нас и пусть охота будет быстрой. an easy blessing for him him and the ones before him, that their hunt might be successful today.

Eisa frequently found herself in the fields, where prey and hunt seemed to constantly be thriving. She found that today was no exception, as she found a decent size hunting party. She joined them in silence, nodding to anyone who may glance her way, as she came to a halt, crouching in the grass. Her body held still, muscles quivering as she waited for the signal to attack for the chance to work with the group of strangers in order to bring something down for all of them to have a chunk of. Hopefully, she'd get a big enough piece to take some back to the Brook.

Scratch. Scratch. The enamel of talons scraped against the hard surface of a boulder. The dog was conveniently perched atop a small lookout post as he drank in the warm September sun, all the while sharpening his claws against the edges of his throne. From side to side, his dark mitts moved, aiming to get just the right amount of friction, creating the sharpest blades possible. In the distance, though, something was happening. A small group of lions forming often meant the start of a hunt, and the dog was nothing if not an opportunistic beast.

It wasn't but another moment before the man hopped down off of his perched, path made straight for the gathering lions. His dual-colored gaze tried to pick out whoever was running this thing before slipping in among the rest, poised and ready to fill his gut.
