Long had the birds begun to migrate here from the mountains. The crisp autumnal air blew colder at night, sweeping from the peaks in the far-off distance and blustering through the Lagoon. But by the time the dawn crept and lightened the beach in a glittering golden glow, the warmth returned, and the birds who'd begun to build their nests in the trees spread their wings and took flight about the small peninsula.

Tinúviel, too, was delighted by the sight of them. So much so that she'd almost missed the gemsbok that lingered nearby.

She'd had to dive behind a winding palm tree to keep from being seen, at first having thought it a fellow pridemate. Thankfully, she'd been small and earthen enough to go unnoticed, but it had come far too close for her to adequately call out to her pridemates. She'd have to wait, silent and bated-breathed, until it either began to walk away or others would come and see it, too.

With her leg healed she was ready to do her part, mind with a now swollen stomach she couldn't be in the heat of the catch in a hunt. Still, she could chase and let the rest bring it down. Despite how much it made the lioness squirm in frustration. With the future-born Tollaire growing inside her, she wouldn't risk losing them to chase her bloodlust. Livyatan had once been a precious thing to her too, but he was an adult now and though still precious, she just couldn't control his actions.

Narsil slipped up beside the unfamiliar lioness with a nod hoping she wouldn't be too annoyed by her trying to hunt. Narsil had a feeling that Rameses wouldn't be far behind her, and she didn't blame him she was just stubborn as all hell. looking at @Tinúviel she whispered, "I forgot how hard it is to run like this," she snorted, oh look she was even trying to start conversations! Must be those nasty hormones!

4 years, no bonus indeed, he is never too far behind. it’s a good thing, too. the gemsbok was alone and surely would not be a terribly hard beast to bring down. still, any hunt brought its fair share of danger. silently he seeks to join his pridemates, lingering solely at @Narsil's side. for good reason, too. careful, he murmurs to her, tone quiet with no real heat. she doesn’t need his reminders, but maybe she’ll allow him them anyway. ears tick forward then, turning his attention towards the gemsbok. muscles tense as he moves into position, happy to let the birds act as a distraction until everyone else was ready. he'd enjoy if they could be successful here today — it’d be a nice change of pace compared to all the fish.

Most of her time was spent in the lagoon but if she was anywhere else, it was trying to collecting herbs as well as information. Thankfully Tiamat was keeping relatively busy which also gave her an excuse to not play the "im a special friend" card and lounge around. Not that she would as she was a relatively hard worker that was intent on maximizing her capabilities as a healer. Today that just meant taking care of the herb storage.

Removing every item that was no longer usable, edible or had any value to them or their allies. Plants that were dried up and shriveled? Removed from the cache carefully and discarded outside. A few extra leaves were brought in to shelter some of the plants from the dry and humid heat outside but that only gave an extra week at most to some.

One in particular that she only had a spare few of, she looked at closely. It was supposed to heal stomache aches but by the looks of it, it was dying out. So, she did what she had to do and took a small bite of it and began chewing. It was slightly lumpier than usual but by the time that she was done chewing and swallowed, she gave herself the executive decision that it was still usable.

Only once she had confirmed with herself that this was the right way to go, did she excuse herself and head towards the hunt that had been called for by her Sovereign. Angling herself close to the other healer, a part of her still feeling guilty for the woman's miscarriage even if it wasn't her, and doing her best to not let that show.

8 years, +1 hunt roll the birds sound… different. wrong. it’s what catches his attention and brings him closer, lured in by the different tones of squawking. it’s different than the cries of the gulls at least, more musical than the seabirds. and when he stumbles upon the scene, it’s… not what he was expecting. it seems he isn’t the only creature curious about all the noise — a gemsbok, typically seen in more greener pastures, had wandered all the way into scilla. seafoam eyes shift away from the deer to look at those already gathered, wordlessly going to join them. passing up a hunting opportunity wasn’t ever the logical choice, and surely between them all they could take it down. +5 Participate in a hunt using the rolled hunt system

seafoam eyes shift to each of the lions who approach and join. hes still new here in scilla, and hes met only the sovereign. she is not here today but others are. they're here for a reason though, not to socialize and hes happy to put his bulk and brawn to use here today. the gemsbok does not stand much of a chance and soon it lays, bloodied and defeated. sucking in a deep breath of sea air, the tawny man helps himself to his owed portion — when he is finished, and the others are too, he’d help return whatever leftovers to the caches.

She is not left alone for long. Faces she had seen in passing but had truly yet to meet begin to join her, and the familiar form of @Narsil is among them. The Scillan Queen offers her a pleasant smile and a nod, but remains silent, careful not to spook the gemsbok before enough fo them are there to properly chase it. By the time there is, Tinúviel maintains her silence; and as she slips into the fray of them, the sound of birds aids their cover as they descend upon the prey.

And they are successful, after some time. Tinúviel wrenches back from their kill half-bloodied and panting. She is content to retire then; to send their prey to their cache to eat it later.

Their hunt finishes with little fanfare but she can surely sense that the rest of her pride mates are pleased. Who wouldn't be? They had, again, successfully taken down prey together without failure and to Carina who had spent a good majority of her life thus far scavenging with only one other, this was a great accomplishment. Happy to help relocate the dead and drying food to the cache before removing herself back to her herb store.

Casually picking out everything that had no business being there anymore, spotting yet another plant that looked a little bit sicker than the others it resembled. Reaching out with her tongue to taste its bitter insides, realizing in an instant that it was baaaaad. The taste was not only bitter but it felt like it stung her tongue and was not useable at all. It held no odd smell to it so the only way that she could actually tell is by the taste.

With a scrunched nose she takes it into her mouth hesitantly and takes it a yard away and deposited it at the base of a nearby palm tree. Throwing some sand over it so that no one stumbled across it and thought it useful. Only then did she return back to her herb store and began to sort them all out, bundling a few of each together (three max to a bundle, so that if one went bad they wouldn't all go bad) and spent the rest of her day trying to replenish what she had lost. exit carina
