Ottilie rises with the dawn, eager to start her day of patrolling the borders of Caladan Cove. As a recent addition to the ranks, she is determined to prove herself to the gruff High Sovereign Gauthier.

As she sets out, she takes a moment to sharpen her claws on a nearby tree trunk, honing them to perfection for any potential threats. The scent of two kudus wafts past her nose, and she follows it eagerly, her hunting instincts taking over.

She slinks down into a stalking position, her body low to the ground, as she approaches the kudus. She is careful not to draw their attention to herself, knowing that she will need backup to take them down. The wind is at her back, helping to mask her scent, and she moves with stealth and grace, her eyes locked on her quarry.

As she waits for backup to arrive, Ottilie feels a thrill of excitement and anticipation coursing through her veins. She loves the thrill of the hunt, and the feeling of power and strength that comes with it. Despite her youth, she is a skilled and deadly predator, and she knows that her skills will be put to the test here more often than not.

Gauthier followed shortly after the yearling, keeping himself low beneath the scrag of the thorny brush and boulders, curiously minding her approach. Beyond, the pair of kudu frolicked and flounced through the shallow waves creeping up at high tide, splashing through the pockets of ephemeral reservoirs gathered up with shells and driftwood. Mindless, naive, they played as if in the gullibility of assuming there was no care in the world but with matters of their own, not to be infringed by the shadow of hungry lions. But bellies always needed fed.

So long as they were not wisened by sound or sight, the wind rushing in from the east was on their side.

Though the beast had been keeping to himself in recent days, content to acquaint himself with the whole of Amaryllis as he did with Caladan, they were lucky enough he had returned home that dawn. Kozrain trudged steadily down the shore when he caught sight of two pairs: one of Kudu and one of Caladan. He twitched the ebony of his nose in a series of studious sniffs before tucking himself into a prowling, crouched stance.

Kozrain attempted to approach at an angle from the other two lions, content to try and trap the morsels for an easier time of bringing them down.

4 years, No Bonuses


The woman was relatively laid back, but luckily for those gathered today she wasn't a drunken fool stumbling across the beach. Not yet anyways. Sunder had become relatively comfortable in the Cove since her arrival, the sand was a slight nuisance but over time she had learned to ignore it. Her attention however would focus on the group of individuals up ahead. A twitch of her nose as she inhaled and exhaled, noticing the pair of Kudu that would soon become prey. She moves silently as she makes her way towards the group, being sure not to attract any attention as she does her best to participate and help.

5 years, no perks

Keligan had been settling in quite nicely into the Cove. Setting up a place to den at in the southern part of the pride lands where a cave provided coolness in these hot weather days. Purple gaze glanced around as he walked out of his den entrance and blinked at the sudden sunlight. Stretching out his front limbs, spine went to stretch and arch as he let out a yawn. Flicking his ears, he decided to go wander for the day and find something to do. But it didn't take him long to see a group gathering and quickly realized it was a hunt. Two Kudu were off in the distance playing and figured they were the target. Lowering his body towards the ground, he inched forward in the sand. Getting himself into position about a yard away on the right from @Gauthier , he waited for the signal.

It had been a few weeks since Leilani had joined the Cove. It was a bit difficult for her to transition to pride life at first, having been a rogue since birth. She had been used to fending for herself and making sure she was kept fed and as healthy as possible. But now, within the safety of pride borders, she was given the chance to do something she really wasn’t able to alone - relax.

But relaxing soon grew boring, and she set out to make herself useful most days, either fishing or helping with the smaller duties around the beach pride. As she padded along the shore the scent of prey would waft toward her in the warm salty air, her attention being swept away by it. Nostrils flared as her maw pointed up toward the sky a little, and as she allowed for her nose to guide her it would lead her to a small group of members, all but one not really known to her. Soft pink eyes would watch them sheepishly before they flickered to the kudu, abyss body instinctually dropping low into a hunter’s crouch. She would creep forward a few paw steps before taking a glance back at the lions.

“Just watch out for their horns,” It was an obvious warning, but a warning nonetheless. None of them needed to be impaled today.

Sunder was having almost too much fun chasing after the Kudu. It was a great excuse to stretch her legs, her ears flopping in the wind as she moved. Thankfully the combined efforts of the group made it easy as pie and before they knew it both Kudu would become prey. "Well that was fun wasn't it guys?" She says with a grin, tongue lolling slightly as the sun beats down on her from above. "Maybe next time we might get more of a challenge eh?" She muses moreso to herself than anyone in particular. Thankfully for the group she wasn't very hungry so the meat could go to anyone who needed it more. Sending one last glance in the direction of @Gauthier she would turn and make her way back down the beach, a spring in her otherwise lackluster step.

Even though she has eyes on the prey, Leilani still allowed for her nose to guide her. It was one way for her to see which direction the scent was coming from, helping her determine which was the wind was blowing and figuring out where to place herself for better chances of closing as much distance she could between she and her attempted meals. The lions that had gathered would make quick work of bringing down the kudu, the plush maned lioness focusing in on one of them and springing to make the killing blow.

She'd tumble across the sands with her jaws clenched on the kudu's throat, her front limbs wrapping around the neck as her claws dug into its skin to help her attempt to keep it in place while it bleated its cries. She'd hold until she could no longer feel the hard thump of its heartbeat, removing her jaws and beginning to pant. Leilani would scramble to her paws, shaking to dislodge any sand that had made its way in between her fur, tongue rasping over a bloody maw. Pink eyes would glance around at the others before her gaze landed on @Gauthier. She aimed a soft smile his direction before bending to take a chunk of meat for herself, wanting to eat her share with a better ocean view.
