She turned to the bronze man and stared him down with just as much seriousness and ferocity as she could possibly muster. While the others talked about friendship she scoffed. "We can't be friends with them. We don't know them!" she exclaimed. Leveling her gaze at the man who hadn't been introduced - though Revna had mentioned the name @Jafar - she spoke in a demanding tone. "Why are you here?"

Summer
The summer season has finally reached its peak. The sunshine is plentiful, the days are long and the air is hot and humid - but the evenings do not seem to provide the same relief that they once had, and remain somewhat stuffy. Thunderstorms have also began appearing more frequently, particularly in the rainforest and eastern region, though the rain is welcomed after a relatively dry season thus far.

Naima was indeed fiercer and more combative than her other siblings. She was determined to not look soft like the other two so she continued her suspicious glare even after things were explained a little more to them. So this was an older sister, Reynir's littermate. She walked straight up to @Linnæa and looked her up and down, studying her. She did look a little like Revna, even if she was the wrong color, so she supposed the story was legitimate. Still, it didn't answer her question completely.

Galadriel
She was late to the scene, having gotten interrupted by following a frog along the riverbank. By the time she realized how far she'd gone, it had been quite some time since mama had called for them. Skittering towards the source of mama's call, Addie managed to get to the scene to hear most of the conversation between the gathered group. Her brother and sisters were there, and as she herself approached them at a great speed for her size, she managed to catch a still too-large paw on a root.
And she went tumbling, rolling to a stop at @Linnæa's paws. "Oof." She muttered, half to herself. The jet black tuft of fur on her head had started to sprout - just a bit - and it was quite obvious that she was larger than the rest of her siblings. Looking up at Linnæa, a sheepish smile went over her face. "Sorry.." Her pale green eyes peered between her mother and the strange pair of lions.
Suddenly feeling very shy, Galadriel aimed to go hide underneath @Revna. It was a bit unlike her to be shy - but there was two strange lions at their borders. Plus... she had just made a fool of herself by tripping and falling as well.

Það verður allt í lagi með Reyni. Ég er viss um að einhver tími í burtu mun hreinsa höfuðið. Linn would seek to reassure @Revna about Reynir. Her brother would come back in due time or… maybe not. It made her a little sad he wouldn’t be here for his nieces and nephews, but there was nothing for her to do about it.
Her question would be answered and she looked at the younger arrivals with wonder. That’s amazing! She commented, her features lighting up at the idea of someone else that was not Vellen who could truly grant such amazing feats. What little blessings.
However the feisty blessing had some other ideas and Linn looked to @Naima. I have news for our mother - that’s why we’re here. She explained with ease.
@Galadriel tumbled into the scene and she smiles. Hi, I'm Linnæa - your eldest sister. She introduced once more to the late arrival as the new cub moved to duck by Revna for comfort.
@August would pipe up, a little delight. Though his question would bring up news one of two. Linn would chuckle softly with a little nervousness in her veins now. Kind of. He is what you’d call a… brother in law. Linn would explain in a manner that was simple to him before looking to her mother. Because I chose him as my mate. Yes, most definitely not a sizable bombshell to bring here. And we’re expecting.

For the most part, Jafar stood quite still as his eyes watched the small children gallivant around their paws and shout. These weren't his children and thus he wasn't inclined to participate too much but if one were paying attention, his lips would turn into a tight smile every now and then. @Revna's news, that wasn't in a different language, was news to him. He had recently heard of who Maua was and while he was entirely unspiritual in every way, he wasn't dismissive of other's and their chosen Gods either. The knowledge that these were children of two mothers and Maua had made it possible? Fascinating. And it bled to the small part of his very soul that knew he appreciated a fine man every now and then but had never the opportunity to act.
Uhh... he began as @August requested an answer to whether or not he was a brother. Eyes glanced to @Linnæa as though expecting that she would find this humorous as he was already dreading what title was going to be introduced to them. The children might not understand so he wasn't prepared to answer that question quite yet. It would only leave him feeling more flustered and targeted than he already did. At least @Naima had the intelligence to understand that you couldn't be friends with someone that you had only just met. Perhaps in rare circumstances but Jafar hardly thought those applicable.
Bright eyes traveling to @Galadriel who had come in by smacking right into Linn's legs. Hardly a threat to his new and pregnant mate, but it still left something to his heart with the hard thump at anything that came at her. Thankfully, she was quick to rip the band-aid off for Revna and with all the strength he could muster he (unbelievably, given how protective he was of her already) moved the tiniest bit closer to her and smiled with hope. Desperate to please and to somehow showcase that she was important to him -- but also, that he wasn't going anywhere, either.

the sea does not like to be restrained And then things progress quickly from there. The cubs have their own questions and it leads to the reason behind the visit. The moment that Linn says that he is her mate Revna's eyes shift to @Jafar, sizing him up in a way she hadn't yet. "Isn't he a little old for you?" she asks with a raised brow. She is no expert on age, but he seemed to be closer to her own age than her daughters. Her tone is by no means scathing or disapproving. Her daughter could make her own choices, and she is well aware of that. "You took his name?" she asks hopefully, turning back to Linn, hoping beyond hope that she will have also abandoned the Sigrun ways. Revna wants to change her own surname, but she isn't sure what to at this point. She is Sigrun, but also not...and it still ties her to the husband she loves. And then, of course, the news that she is also expecting. Well, that seals the deal then - Jafar is now family, regardless of the age gap. Her daughter has made her choices. "How will they be....raised?" She almost chokes the words out, not willing to ask if they will be going through the Sigrun rituals in so many words. @Kassidy @Galadriel |

Well, whatever this brother-in-law thing was, it still had the word brother in it. August delightedly bounded up to Jafar, no fear or shyness in his demeanor, and looked up at the much larger man. "You're our brother now!" he declared loudly. And there would absolutely be no arguing with the young boy. As surrounded as he was by girls and with his other brother currently not around, @Jafar was going to be his new best friend for the moment.
"You have to meet Reynir when he comes back!" the boy insisted. Reynir had to come back, after all. They would be sad if he didn't.And then he batted at Jafar's paw a little, hoping to tease the adult into playing. Perhaps one of his more outgoing siblings would join in on the fun and make life even more awkward for his sister's new mate.

Naima was far less trusting and friendly than her brother. Ever the fierce warrior, she regarded the news of her sister and this man marrying as well as the declaration that he was some kind of brother-in-law with a wary stare. "August," she whined, exasperated by his friendliness as he approached the much older male without any kind of caution.
Her sister announces that she is expecting, and Naima had absolutely no idea what she meant by that. The others seemed to have not noticed it, caught up in the idea of a brother. Her mother asked how they would be raised and the question didn't make sense to the young girl. "Expecting what?" she demanded, her frustration creating a frown and furrowed brow. She did not like not understanding what was going on and was quick to demand an explanation as her spitfire personality shone through.

Trúarlegt val? Ertu að meina að snúa þér að Maua? She would seek to inquire further. Hann mun sætta sig við. Hann verður að. Linn would insist. She doubted she could live in a world where her own brother hated her for something that was no longer her or @Revna's entire identity.
The conversation would continue with Linn's dropping of news. To me, no. Linn hadn't even thought of the difference in age when @Jafar had expressed his feelings. It wasn't a factor. Though she can tell this choice was mostly (if not entirely) accepted by her mother from her next question. Yes, I did. Her statement paired with a nod. It's Casales now. She was happy about it. The follow-up question was expected. Very far from such ways. Aside from our language. An assurance for her mother as much as it is for herself.
The two children would steal her attention for a moment. She allowed @August to be as comfortable as he preferred, even if it was at the exasperation of @Naima. Children. They'll be your nieces and nephews. Linn was happy to answer.

While the other language was very quick to go over his head, it hardly bothered him. After all he spoke spanish and often times spoke it clearly with his family so he couldn't exactly get mad at them for doing it to him. Whatever they said, was between them -- the pointed expression of isn't he a little old for you? did not go over his head, however. Not that he could argue that because he was a good bit older than most of the eligible women in Amaryllis. At least any that were wandering within his very small social circle.
Nearly all of @Revna's questions were focused in @Linnæa's direction (which he was thankful for) but there was one he felt was specifically reserved for him which made him quietly think of what he needed to say. With care, careful guidance and strength in all forms. Though, he did not expect Revna to know what he meant by that but he did and perhaps Linn would, too. Strength was commonly referred to as being physically strong but as he constantly pointed out to his children was that strength came from different abilities and figuring out what strengths you have came with time.
Truth was, he didn't expect his new wife's mother to be accepting of him but he was beginning to feel that perhaps she wasn't all that upset. Not that she had a choice, of course.

the sea does not like to be restrained She offers a kind smile to @Jafar who tries to answer her question even though it is far from the answer she is searching for. Linn, however, does offer her what she was hoping to hear. "Far from HIM, then," she refers to the Sigrun god vaguely, not wanting her youngest to ask questions about such things. There is approval in her voice. She cannot argue with her daughter's choices, even if she does not entirely approve, and Jafar seems to be honorable enough, if old enough to be Linn's father. That is perhaps her only disagreement with the situation. "Take care of her," she says firmly, her gaze moving to him and him alone. "She is my husband's only remaining daughter, and I would like her to live a long and happy life," she continues, her voice dropping to a softer tone. There is sadness there, for the daughter lost to the sea now so long ago. None of them have forgotten, of course. They never will. ooc: just assume the children are off playing and we can wrap this up unless @Zodiac wants to post with @Galadriel. I'll be setting August and Naima inactive and don't plan on replying with them more. |
