OOC: I'm happy for him to be claimed but no EM or AO, please

The storm peters off, leaving devastation in its wake. As if nature had thrown together the last of its anger into one final, horrible night of thunder and lightning. When it leaves, Thane is alone. He looks for them, calling out, trekking through the trees and grass and shrubs until it turns into sand. And then he keeps walking, because he doesn’t know what else to do. It just makes sense, to keep moving. That’s what mama had said. Always keep moving.

He is too small to see much ahead, and calling out makes his throat hurt. And then his paws begin to hurt, and the sun cooks his back and red-tufted head. But mama said don’t stop, especially when there is no cover. Especially when there’s big, angry birds flying above him - waiting for him to stop, to rest, to sleep forever.

Thane keeps walking, stumbling and tripping over his own big paws.

She walked with her head held high, determined that this trip to the passage would not be so much of a bummer as her first. Anniston attempted to appear quite regal as she walked over the sands of Amaryllis's entrance, ignoring the fatigue that already begged her eyelids to droop after such a long trek. Did the other prides even know their privilege, in not having to walk so far to get to the recruiting grounds? She highly doubted it. The wet sands clung stubbornly to her sleek furs, telling the tale of a storm she had long since missed. This, paired with the glaring heat of afternoon sun on her dark coat, had Anniston Frei in a less-than-patient mood.

"Hmm?" A bit of movement caught her attention. She slowed, scanning her surroundings carefully until she caught sight of some small creature. Her face brightened, then immediately fell, taking in the smattering of colors and a crooked face only a mother could love.

"Ew! What is –– um," Anniston recoiled, curling her lip with a grimace as she looked down upon the little thing. Still, there was no denying the scent of a young lion. She would have to minister to this unsightly little thing just the same as any other. "Hello," she forced a greeting, disgust simmering in her throat.

Alma was once more into the passage looking for new recruits. Anyone that could bring more useful paws to the Rainforest. Eyes of fire gold traveled across the barren trail of sand that connected the outside world with Amaryliss. So far all she was able to see was some rain and strong winds. That until she spotted a tinny figure. A cub. Why the fuck was a kid out here? Whatever the reasons rescuing it was the priority. She approached fast toward it, eyes not as hard as usual but not of stupid sweetness. "Hey boy, where the heck are your parents?" Harsh but that was how she talked and she couldn't remove that from her. But he wasn't alone, another youngster. But this one smelled of a pride. "what are your names?" She asked both. "He will be safe with me" yeah she was aiming to make claim of him for his own good. // Alma vs ??? For @Thane @Anniston

He was trailing loosely after his daughter, impressed to know she had taken up venturing towards the Passage in her maturity. Anni's scent was light, washed out by the salty breeze that gushed across the narrow path into Amaryllis. Though as the terrain opened up to reveal the golden sands, he could see her in the near distance.

She was not alone, and eventually the cries of a cub could be heard as the King approached. He's surprised that Anni hadn't claimed the boy already, that was usually Vio's thinking when being first on the scene. Rather, Alma, a firnen lioness, had taken it upon herself.

A glance at the mottled child before back to the maned rainforest woman as he sought to approach from behind, "No." He wasn't much a man for taking the first swing at a woman, but he would endeavor to wait for her attention before acting. Attempting to march right upon the smaller woman from behind, Vio aimed to thrust his left shoulder-flesh into the soft place behind her right shoulder.

It wasn't an all-out attack, but certainly a shove to say - fight me, or let him come.

Of course Amaryliss wasnt know for swift and peaceful resolution of problems. But, it wouldnt be as fun otherwise. She was bred and raised to fight, to make others think it twice before messing with her. Let them regret it. And those who had seen her fight knew she had an speciallity. Attacks to the face.

While she aimed toapproach the cub, a No came from a male who as soon as she turned to watch was on his tracks to attack her. Well if he liked it rough then she would gladly give a sweet paidback. He aimed to have his left shoulder againts the backside of her left shoulderplate. Quickly she aimed to spread her legs and lower herself a bit, aiming to make of her a wall of muscle and bone. She wont try to miss the attack but make it hurt for both. Then she aimed to twist her upper body to the right, for then attempting to swipe her left front paw with claws out across his face, aiming to do so in a verticall way, up and down.

What's all this? she asks of her daughter as Fallon follows after @Anniston and her husband to Maua's Passage. She lumbers towards the gathered group, pink gaze fixed on the patchwork child that sits near her yearling daughter. It would appear that Amaryllis had a new trend of drawing in orphans. She can only assume that @Violarum fights the woman from the Rainforest for the right to bring @Thane back to the Plains. Coming to stand before the cub in question, the Salem woman observes the telltale signs of extended travel -- the sore looking feet and the sun-baked coat. The boy has certainly seen better days. What's your name, kid? she asks, not having heard Anniston's initial remarks upon chancing upon Thane.

Violarum was thirsty. It had been way too long since the clay male had sunk his teeth into lion-flesh, the last time likely in these very same lands. Sure, he was filled with visions of colossal males with more body-hair, but he supposed the sizeable lioness would have to do.

Truly, he hadn't quite expected her to brace; and the thump of his contact was sure to leave a bruise upon his own left shoulder. Swiftly the woman shifted, contorting rightward in order to direct a swift blow of her left forepaw towards his face - the very same side Gunnhildr had left her scar upon.

Instinctively, Violarum had tucked his chin to his left, but it was only enough to save his eye; the clay woman's talons snagged a portion of his cheek, and the skin tore to reveal a torrent of blood. So, it seemed she wasn't going to simply walk away huh? Adrenaline coursed alongside the pain, a gush of thrill and excitement urging the King onwards.

With a curl of his lips the male attempted to catch Alma's left wrist before she could return it to the sandy earth, hoping to chomp down upon her limb and prevent her regaining her balance. In a similar breath, he would shove that same left shoulder vaguely, trying to reconnect to her right side and potentially cause his rival to stumble like a displaced tripod.

If, perhaps, Thane had the strength to lift his head up, he’d have noticed the two lionesses approaching. The first one is young, and she stutters out a few words and her disgust is evident, but Thane is far too young to understand the emotion - but he knows it’s bad, and directed at him, and his big ears fold back over his head as he cowers back from @Anniston.

"H-hi -" he begins softly, only to cut short when another comes over and asks where his parents are. "Uhm -" Thane tries, but @Alma asks his - their - names, and more things he doesn’t really get. Thane frowns, sucking on his too-big teeth, shifting his weight like getting ready to run -

And then a great big, massive lion comes barrelling out of nowhere, smashing into the second lioness. Thane shrieks a high-pitched wail as the two adults begin to rip and tear at each other. He doesn’t understand why, just that the smell of blood is metallic and he doesn’t like it. He backpedals, big paws nearly tripping him up as he seeks to scuttle away from the sudden violence.

The cub doesn’t get far before @Fallon towers over him, bright pink eyes freezing him in place. Thane freezes, staring up. Behind the grey lioness, the battle continues, but he can’t see it (and if he can’t see it, it can’t hurt him).

"Fane -" he whispers breathily, "my name’s Fane."

Was she afraid?

Was she scared of fighting larger lions? Not at all, she was happy to fight for herself. Not even a giant could make her run. Growls left her throat from the adrenaline that began to take over her actions. Taking away any care for pain and being hurt.

The hit came and pain erupted from the blow, but at least she wasn't knocked down with it. The spot felt warm and pretty much bruising should be the result of the collision. But she wasn't over, she wouldn't be until she at least gave him reasons to stay out of her way.

He moved his head, but her claws were still able to leave bloody marks through his cheek, at least she drew blood.

But soon he aimed to catch her paw into his jaws, doing so on her wrist.

Wanting to take advantage of his mouth now being busy, using her other three legs to move her, she aimed to lounge her left shoulder hopefully against his muzzle. But then he did so as well, aiming to get rid of her balance. The blow made her back legs shake, as she aimed to plant them harder to avoid falling down completely but she was close to do so.

The sting to the right side of his face is proof that the male is alive and well, and though he found himself somewhat surprised by the physical capability of his opponent, at this point he was faring okay. His teeth connect, jaws clamping in an attempt to sustain his hold on her wrist, as well as cause pain - blood for blood.

Unsuspecting is the shuffle of Alma, shifting their presentation in order to clash her left shoulder against his snout. Unwilling to relinquish his hold he sought to remain there, wearing the entirety of her efforts as a searing pain soared from snout to skull; throbbing. He is momentarily disorientated, ruby gaze squeezing shut as his vision had blurred.

Somewhat blindly he shook his head, a last hurrah, attempting to throw her stability or cause further damage - his vision was still disturbed, his head still aching with the prior impact. The taste of blood had welled within his mouth; it's source at this point unknown.
