Prompt: A mated pair of giraffes wander into Ecrosia Mire on a date day. They've come to see the swamp in all its stinky glory.

Markus found he had been settling into pride life quite nicely, and the space from his stupid brother was almost relaxing. The Mire seemed busy, and whilst Markus liked to hide in the shadows, he was more than happy to get stuck in with the day-to-day business of the pride... much like today.

The man had been walking through the territory when the two giraffes caught his attention. Pausing and observing them both momentarily, the man lowered his body down to the ground and called out for the rest of the pride to join him in this hunt - especially since he was hungry and quite fancied giraffe...

4 years, no bonus

Giraffes were not easy prey. Theyvwere also not something that wandered into the jungles and swamps so readily, needing the open plains to avoid tripping over things or getting tangled in vines and tree limbs. Seeing a pair of them was surprising, to say the least.

Even more surprising is who the call for a hunt came from. Adalwolf recognized the sound of family and instantly made his way towards it, curiosity piqued. "Cousin," he greeted @Markus. He hadn't realized another had joined them. It must have been recent, or he had been too caught up in his injured wife and revenge on her behalf to notice. Even now the wound on his face was still healing. It would become a nasty scar beneath his eye.

He settled in to wait for more of the pride to arrive, hoping they would have enough to take down the beasts. They would have to use the tangles of the Mire to their advantage.

Well, that wasn't a sight that one saw every day. Hubert would know - he's lived here his entire life. (Even if his mind's distant flashes of desert sand tried to say otherwise.)

The giraffes are truly massive beasts, their height rivaling that of the surrounding trees, though much of that had to do with how comically their necks were stretched out. Was there any relation to those silly-looking pink birds that liked that one pond? Probably not, but it was an amusing comparison. In any case, Hubert rather hopes that the long-necked creatures would prove to be as stupid as those birds were. It would make this task a bit easier, though no less impressive. Vater should be pleased, if these found their way into the pride's cache.

After applying a fresh coat of mud to his ebony fur to dampen his scent, the young Prince would make his way towards the two males already gathering, on light, careful pawsteps. He kept his gleaming eyes upon the targets as he settled into the shadows alongside the paler of the two, trying very hard not to notice how...slender he himself was, in comparison to the towering felines. He'd prove himself just as capable, just you wait.

It passed sometime after her last hunt, in the past ones she hasn't been in the mood for it. Feeling empty of energy or desire to do what she usually loved to do at all costs. But a lot was changing on her behalf, not only emotionally. But physically too. Things she was still adjusting to, and the insecurities grew to unwanted levels, embarrassing for her to accept. Two giraffes, two very large ones. This could be the hardest hunt in her life, even more that the elephants. As they had come alone, not in pairs like these.

She arrived to find not so wanted hunting companions, mostly referring to Adalwolf. Yet she simply ignored him, afraid of him. For that she took her own spot to stalk and attack from. She lacked their weight and strength, but she could compensate it with her speed and more agile structure. Like that she was ready.

And once again, it seems that some of the land's largest creatures have decided that the swamp would be an excellent place to wander. Such boldness. Did the beasts think that their size would be guaranteed to protect them, even as they roved amongst a literal pride of hungry lions?

Hmph. Well, Myra certainly won't be the one to try to persuade them otherwise. The presence of the giraffe pair presents an opportunity, albeit a risky one. Some care would have to be taken, if they were to bring both of them down without getting caught by powerful hooves on either side. A good challenge. "It'd be best if we could separate them before going in for the kill." She quietly murmurs aloud to the 'ringleader' of this particular hunt, creeping up on Markus's free side.

They'd need more numbers either way though, and so the huntress settled into a crouch to wait.

It surprised her that it was not Myra or Caillen to issue the summons for the hunt, as it so often was. Instead, as the sapphire lioness arrived to join the group, steady gaze found an unknown male at the helm of the hunt.
Pale lips parted in a smile and a nod to him (@Markus) before taking up her place beside @Caillen. The mother angled her skull, giving her daughter a warm smile, attempting to brush her forehead against the striped female's shoulder. "Wee one." small one. She murmured quietly and with love. Not knowing quite how long she might stay with her in Erosia now that her father had returned to Amaryllis.

Ears cupped toward Myra's words as she spoke to their new comrade. Sláine's gaze moved onward toward the pair of giraffe, who were quite an ungainly spectacle in amongst the muck of the swamp.

Perhaps it was a foolish endeavor for Giulia to make her way towards the giraffes, but initially when she heard them stomping through the Mire, she couldn't help but make her way towards them. And when she did realize that the large, long-necked animals were actually in the swamp lands she couldn't help but feel a bit confused. They almost never travelled this far, especially in a pair, nonetheless. Either way it would be a mistake for them, there were plenty of hungry lions that called the Mire home and would be eager to make a meal out of them. She trailed them through her home, eventually coming across the others that had also gathered to see the spectacle. Naturally she gravitates towards @Hubert, taking up alongside him with ears flicked forward, listening. Giulia would do her best to help, even if she wasn't the most adept fighter given her .. social anxiety.

The crimson wounds finally healed enough to hunt on her own and she'd found her prey easily enough, silently coming to slide in next to Myra, giving a nod to the woman. Respect had blossomed for her the night they'd patrolled together, and she listened to the advice given, her eyes tracing up to the giraffes tip of it's horns and for a moment, she wondered if they could hit a lion with their horns, seemed quite useless to be that tall. She'd seen them fight each other brutally for a females attention, the sound of those heads and necks bashing across each other was quite unnerving, if they could clip a lion, it wouldn't be fun.

Though, she had to stifle a snort at the mental image of the giraffe just flopping it's head around like some kind of messed up slinky, she stayed silent though and her eyes landed on her husband, eyes softening just a bit at his face. She would care for his wounds later, now was not the time.

Shaking the light amount of snow that dustsd his otherwise dark appearance he would move to join the pride that was gathering. Arriving he began to descend into a crouch while amber eyes watched the two giraffes with interest. This was not a easy task, a giraffe could easily and fatally wound them. It would take a lot of caution to keep away from those powerful kicks. Livyatan did not plan on dying today, or coming away severely injured. So cautiously he crept forward slowly and silently. If he could maybe spook them or at least sink his teeth into one of their legs... it would make the hunt just a bit easier on the rest, right?
