(1/2) +5 Patrol your borders 7 years, no bonus, pride tier 1 Valkravn felt like she were coming out of hibernation. She had kept to herself the majority of the winter season, only surfacing to satisfy her basic needs and to take on a patrol every now and again. Despite all the commotion that had been happening throughout Amaryllis she decided to keep herself away from it all, giving herself much needed peace and time to mull over her thoughts and where she wanted to now direct her life. She had joined the Brook because of the deep roots the Natives have grown here, and although she did not have any intentions of leaving did she feel like she needed to figure out what her true role within the pride was. She had taken to walking the borders to wake herself up and to loosen up tight muscles. Every now and again would she halt and sniff the air, surveying the land around her and remarking scent markers before carrying on. When a ruckus not too far off caught her attention, as well as the thick scent of warthog and other members gathering for an assumed hunt, the Viking would make her way toward the crowd rather hastily. She would give them all a glance and a nod before dropping down into the hunter's crouch, eyes now narrowing onto their target. |

Summer
Summer is in full swing now, with clear skies, warm nights, and ample sunshine! As such, the deserts begin to grow dry, the shores remain a blissful escape, the north is spared with cooling winds, and humidity continues to rise in the jungle. Rain and storms are long forgotten troubles by now, which is both a virtue and a vice during the heat of the season.

Winter had been a lonely season for the Donnelly. With her sister gone, she had kept mostly to herself and found mild entertainment in the daily routine of simple existence – eating, sleeping, reliving memories, the occasional chat with the occasional company. Spring had arrived in good time to brush off those winter blues, and as the days grew longer Tuathla was beginning to find enthusiasm for other activities as well—with this group hunt catching her attention in a refreshing way. The earthy scent of warthog smothered in the recent scents of her fellow brook inhabitants called the woman towards the event, and she approached with a quiet and keen interest, her ears cupped forward and indigo eyes glinting eagerly as she crept into their midst.
In her rekindled passion and concentration on the warthog and those who were clearly heading the hunt, Tuathla did not notice Castus at first. Only when she was practically atop the larger lion did his snowy mane and silver stripes catch her eye, causing her heart to pause in surprise at the recognition. Then a rush of heat flooded her cheeks alongside an inspiration of mischief, wholeheartedly distracting the woman from the task at hand. Still crouched behind him, Tuathla would cheekily aim to nip at the lion’s tail tuft in an effort to give those snowy hairs a gentle, harmless tug. She would grin at him, should he turn, her eyes flashing with mirth and mischief while her heart fluttered in her chest at this coincidence.

Trotting briskly alongside the Vermedan borders, a task he made unto himself when Nymeria had been rather lost on the wind, he was able to focus entirely on one single thing. Keeping those within safe. If it meant stretching himself thin and becoming bored then so be it, at least he would be present if anything were to happen. Eyes constantly on the move inside and outside the territory, looking to the ground for recent tracks to scent who or what it was that had made them. If anything, it was a good excuse to get exercise in. Briskly trotting to keep his heart rate up as well as to make the trip quicker so he might get to trouble, if there was any, sooner.
As it happened, one of the prey animals that had slipped in a while back seemed to have caught the eye of some of his pride mates. Gareth had intentionally ignored the tracks of the warthog in lieu of his patrol but he supposed if there were others, he should make a show. So he gathered himself up for one last small stint of the border patrol before he kept the brisk pace towards the final resting place of the warthog. Many lions had gathered by the smell of things but it didn't mind they didn't need help. They'd get it either way.

There were so many more here than there usually was. Caligula was glad to see it though. He was glad to see so many coming out to help the pride. It was a proud moment to see the pride coming together. He was even more proud to find his older children there to help out as well.
The bronze male looked from the group of lions to what had been found to be hunted. It looked to be an easy enough success with the number that had turned out. But he had witnessed things go completely awry before. No, he wouldn't count it a success until it actually happened.
He stood in silence and waited for the hunt to begin, waited to see where he would be most useful to help out.

ooc: 4 years no bonus Though he was super irritable when he felt the nip to his tail he assumed it was a sibling. Turning to look back he startled seeing Tuathla instead, it forced him into a half risen position. His heart suddenly was beating at a pace unfamiliar to him, it seemed to only happen when she was around. A smile flashed across his features while he relaxed, she took the irritation right out of him just by being here. A glance to the group and he snorted, moving to walk up alongside her he grinned mischievously himself. "tag, your it" he said with a quick bop of his paw on her own before he took off in the opposite direction of the group. He would take whatever punishment they deemed fit for him abandoning the hunt but right now it was the perfect excuse to leave. |

the sea does not like to be restrained Despite her concerns, the hunt is a success. They take down the warthog easily, overpowering it with sheer numbers. It takes but a few moments for things to end. With a nod to her fellow pride mates, Revna slips away, knowing that the rest of them will be able to take care of moving the carcass to the cache. She is proud the pride she has come to love. They work well together. /Exit |

Man, it seemed like the whole pride had come out to join the hunt! Spiritus hoped they wouldn't fail this time, considering how many of them were around to take down the warthog. It would be a good meal for them.
Their numbers were evidently numerous enough, and they were able to surround and drag down the warthog with practiced ease. Spiritus decided to linger in case the group decided to share a meal together or needed help hauling it back to the cache, though obviously there were plenty around to be able to help with that. Even some of the youngest members of the pride had shown up! Probably good for them to be exposed to hunting so early.

Spiritus is genderfluid. The pronouns used in each thread are the pronouns they feel at the time. Unless told otherwise, other lions are likely to consider them male. In OOC, "He/They" is perfectly fine!

With great triumph the lions of Vermeda succeeded in taking down their chosen prey. Not that he had had any doubts given that their numbers were quite vast and anyone seeing a hunt for these prey would see that tenfold. So he waited for the hunt and its numbers to fan out before taking it upon himself to help where he could before going on his way. Returning back to his chosen art of patrolling those dang borders again. Some could call it an obsession for why he chose to do this two sometimes three times a day.
Walking the borders, as he had returned to doing, was probably one of the most therapeutic things he could do. Keeping his eyes keen to the outside of Vermeda, nose on the wind to scent for strangers and his ears listening for anything out of the ordinary. Only until he was certain there wasn't anything in the near vicinity did he hop to a faster pace, burning himself into a jog and keeping his steps light and easy. He didnt wish to overwork himself, per say, but he did want to be able to get to danger in time should there be any. Plus, he would hate to be at the whims of weakness should he one day choose not to exercise and then continue that poor decision. Gareth pumped himself across the borders back and forth, keeping his head up and his eyes erect -- knowing the likelihood of danger coming to their door was minimum but it was never none. Exercising was good, even when alone, and it would keep him and the rest of the pride safe.
