A place of violence – he knew the sight well, knew the scent, that sharp and acrid taste on the biting winds. It was all there – the hallmarks of what his blood knew to be home. But it was not war that called to the yearling, nor was it the siren cry of a gladiator’s challenge. He sought out any familiar in the amassing crowd, finding them not, he’d settled in where there was room. His mind buzzed with thoughts of violence, of glory, of heathen-hewn success. A hunger trawled the flames of his stare, their emberous sight clasping fast to the legendary quarry set before them. an eager hound, one near worthy of his father’s acclaim, lorcan stood at the ready—awaiting the bellowing of the hunt being set into motion.

The hum of pandemonium reaches him with ease - the Pit, its lingering tinge of blood, flesh, the salt of war, is ever the welcome event to the warmonger. The buzzards that passed overhead told him of a great spilling, and owed them much to their earnest heralding of his prized amusements. He followed them there, pleased to witness the crowd gathering, curious as to what would unfold at the heart of the crater.
But it was not war of lionkind that drew them.
His own pridemates were eclipsed by the shadow of the monstrosity that had haunted the corners of Amaryllis. And while the many were content to whisper and jeer on the sidelines, his veins rushed with heat and frenzy. Though moved by the surge of adrenaline and the innate desire to protect - he tangled his fury with wit, calculative for his approach.
Gauthier swept through the line of lions that gathered on the edge, blowing through their wall of bodies with nary a care for their comfort as he battered through the shoulder-to-shoulder shield of flesh. While @Laveau and @Ludivine struggled to evade the heavy swing of its goring tusks, Gauthier roared to gather its attention, lunging for its thick neck left exposed in the sway of its mighty skull. He would intend to hold on for as long as he could, willing a great test of his strength, tightening the taut muscles of his core as he dug his hind claws deep to ledge himself as he attempted to bury his teeth in the brute's thick-skinned throat, seeking to tear away chunk by chunk as the leviathan bellowed and blundered.

At the acceptance of his help, @Ronin asked if Keligan had any ideas of how to kill the creature. The brute thought for a moment before a suggestion was made by another of a group distracting the mammoth and another group to kill it. Clicking his tongue, he spoke, I volunteer on trying to distract it. With his longer fangs and claws, maybe it could help inflict pain on the animal and not have it focus on the ones near it's head.
Through the push and pull of maturing sinew, Thrain worked his body in a tireless training endeavor; seeking the harsh soil of The Pit so as to challenge his balance somewhere other than the moist cushioning of the rainforest. He loped in a belly-lowered way, pushing his shoulders and haunches to their limits as his tongue nestled limp behind pearly whites, lungs panting.
However, as his talons pierced and raked against rocky soil, sharpening and shortening, there came an undeniable commotion that could be sensed in the soil as readily as heard. An elephant? No. The bronze youngster approached, and found himself wide-eyed with marvel at the chaotic scene. This beast was like nothing he had ever seen.
It was hard to think that the island wasn't cursed in someway, there was never a moment where things seemed to be balanced. This wasn't normal... or was it? She didn't know anything different so for her it was as normal as the sun rising and setting for things to be strange. @Gauthier's roar caught her attention and she raced in with him, leaping toward it's neck alongside the male who was once in the Bluffs with her. Elaine's teeth grabbed flesh and her body folded up so she could dig her claws in past the thick fur and into the tender flesh under it. Whatever this beast was would fall and feed them all, friend, foe, and strangers together.

It throws the mammoth off long enough for Ludivine to dive in for her piece of the action, and after the rest of the growing hoard finally join in on the attack, the creature is quick to fall beneath them. Not so tough, are you? The sly thought races through Ludivine's head as she gazes down at the fallen beast before her, chest heaving as she seeks to catch a proper breath. It was difficult — but worth it.
She acknowledges Gauthier's efforts with a nose to his shoulder, her eyes gleaming with hunger as she looks to him for a moment before diving in for her own pound of flesh. Ludivine carries it to the edges of the pit to dine — not too far away, as it would no doubt take hours to finish their feast, and she planned to leave satisfied.

Well it's bound to take your life
Her paws carried her faster down the incline, blood pounding in her chest and ears as she did nothing to stop her speed, only tried to reign it in enough to harness it for the first of many strikes she would make upon the giant. She was blind to all else in this state, jaws parted with sharp, quick pants as she reached the bottom of the pit and made her bid. Rip, tear, take the beating but don't take the brunt of it. Claws sliced through fur and flesh to draw steaming rivulets of redd thst matted the beast's hairy hide. It was not long until the force of so many curious and hungry challengers dragged it down where it could bellow no more, silent as it had been for thousands of years before now.
The hound rolled her shoulders when all was said and done, feeling her muscles burn and the warmth of blood splashed across her inky fur. It was exhilarating, truly, but now she'd earned a small prize. This was certainly not some mystery meat fed down in the pack's caverns.

The gathering slowly grew in size, others would approach him, offering their advice and volunteering for one task or another. He would nod to them, acknowledging what they said but when a particular red lioness appeared on the scene, he would become obviously distracted, stealing glances every two seconds to the mire lioness, even going so far as to tip an ear in her direction to catch what she said. The last time he looked in her direction, he would catch her eye, a smile pulling at his lips as he offered a playful wink.
And then…there was another voice, an all too familiar voice that had his head snapping in the other direction, ears coming forward as @Artemisia appeared, speaking about the large furry creatures- Mammoths. She had called them. It seemed she was the only one there that had a name for them and thus, he would give her his full attention as she spoke about stories from her family on how to hunt them. Apparently, he wasn’t far off.
Let’s get to it then.He offered, turning towards the mammoth with one last fleeting glance between Artemisia and @Nephthys.
Once they approached the Mammoth, his romantic problems would dissolve for the time, focusing entirely on the hunt ahead of them. The plan itself worked out wonderfully. Some would distract while others took turns going for vital spots on the beast- Ronin included. It was someone else that would finally land the killing blow, crumpling the creature and when it would finally collapse, the bloodied maw of Ronin was ready, he would swoop in, tearing into the tough hide of the beast. Spitting out fur as he went. The warmonger would tear off a large enough chunk for him to work on and would then move off, panting and the front of him covered in blood from both the attack and getting his fill. He wasn’t the only one to rush in and move off to eat, but he would move off to a spot alone. The dark colored lioness he had fought would move off, heading home he assumed.
