now that she has partially become used to the life of a pride lioness, the newly anointed gentry of the summit cannot just lay down and do nothing. there's still much to learn about this new life of hers, from the duties tied to her rank, to the people beneath morrigan's banner. fernweh has no doubt that all the lions here are of agreeable temperament. yet still, she worries that that is still not enough.

too many times she has starved during her months as a rogue. it was by her own instinct to survive that she haven't faltered. when fernweh checked the pride cache this morning, she was dismayed to see the dwindling food supply. what little there was were covered in snow by her. she had even staked out a new cache not far from the old one, hoping to create a deeper room for additional food source so they can survive the winter.

and now, it's time to properly stock the old cache and bring back fresh meat. lately, fernweh developed a taste for hunting. her activities in the past, slipping in with pride lions unfamiliar to her, and the adrenaline of not getting caught, are all catching up to her. this time will be different, of course; she can still relive the adrenaline, but without the added danger of getting caught. to fernweh, hunting is yet another way of passing time, but also tending to the people she loves. it's sacred, in a way, and that's why she's always diligent about what she does, crouching low in the snow as it camouflages her from whatever prey that'll come by._{BG — ART — CODE}

6 years, no trade perks, pride tier 2 She made the approach slowly but happily, aiming to crouch quietly near to @Fernweh and offer a supportive smile. In these tough times it was important to make sure that the pride stuck together and made sure that everyone was well in every way. Fernweh had finally joined them officially and it meant a lot to the Sovereign that she was willing to put in the work to create a hunt for the lions of the Summit to participate in. This way they could fill their caches and therefore fill their bellies, leaving no room for error. Talisa had high hopes that more would join and held onto that optimism as tightly as she could.

7 years, no trade perks, pride tier 2 Morrigan was glad to hear that her niece was fulfilling her promise to help the pride so quickly, and the High Queen made her way swiftly to where the two women were already gathered, chuffing for anyone else who might wish to join them but may not recognize the call. "Ladies," she would greet the pair before brushing against @Talisa's side and settling down to wait for @Fernweh's instruction. As always, she was just here to be the brute force during the takedown. The planning and the directions were best left to her betters.

3 years, no perks

When the winter rolled in, it rolled in with force, not holding anything back. The Summit froze in its wakem and with it, whatever herds still lingered in the area moved out to warmer pastures. The only animals hardy enough to brave the snow were the caribous, and the rare chance an animal from the warmer biomes was chased far enough North to get lost in the snow.

Following the scent of a pride mate, Opium eventually came across @Fernweh crouching in the snow, along with others who had gathered just before she did. Her own coat did little to camouflage her here, but she did crouch - allowing her tail to fan out behind her to ready for a leap into the snow drifts that sometimes were much taller than her.

Talisa was here for encouragement and support, lending a paw so that no one would feel alone to do this themselves. @Fernweh deserved to have the support of her pride mates and especially Illyria's leaders and family at her side and Talisa wished to do just that. To promise that their strength was in their bodies as well as their hearts because that was what it took to keep your head up. So as the donkeys took their last breath she lowered her head in quiet prayer. Bless us, Oh Creator, and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive, from thy bounty, through Maua, Our Creator. Only as she lifted her head and bathed in the silence afterwards did she begin to shuffle what was left of the donkeys after anyone got their meal so that Illyria would have food going forward. exit talisa

When the scent crossed their paths - close enough to pinpoint the dark shapes in the snow beyond - the party was soon in motion. Leaping into the snow, Opium tried her best to keep up with the rest of them, but she was by far not the first to reach the donkeys - and was not one to kill them either. She did, however, block them from escaping once or twice, but otherwise, she couldn't help much. The snow worked against her often because of her petite size.

When the donkeys were felled, it was a relief to everyone. Opium quietly took her share, offered a nod to her fellow hunting friends, and carried it off in the snow. /exit

Morrigan, uncertain as she was of her own skillset, was pleasanstly surprised when the four of them managed to take down both of the donkeys. "Well done, especially for such a small group." Apparently the deep snowfall hadn't been enough to drag some other members out of their dens, but then again the Summit had hardly ever been unsuccessful and there was always food in the cache. That was what really mattered in the end. Waiting for the others to take what they desired, Morrigan would gesture to her niece to assist in carrying the remainders of the carcasses with her wife as she picked up half of one of the donkey's herself. exit morrigan
