She considered his words and found the logic there undeniable. Realistically, was there anything wrong with eating their own kind? She couldn't really think of any reason besides that society tended to look down upon it, and considering how little she cared about what society thought that wasn't a stopping point. "You raise a good point," she said. "After all, we are not the only animals who can talk and think, and yet we have no problem with eating them." So what was so different about lions? She'd have to ponder this further. "Does the rest of the Bluffs think this way as well?" she asked, still curious. Or was he perhaps an outlier?

"Bluffs eat meat." Did they all eat lion meat? He certainly had no idea at all. But given that the Bluffs were mostly family it wouldn't be surprising if lion was in their diet. It wasn't like it was something that they got to have on a daily basis though. They mostly ate regular old prey meat instead.

"You eat meat?" The clay male turned the question back around on the lioness. Clearly this was a subject of some sort of interest for her and at least this was something he could vaguely converse on. He knew more about hunting and eating than he knew about plants.

He confirmed for her that the Dieudonne ate lion without the slightest hesitation, and she now understood why they were so reviled in Amaryllis. He'd said it so simply too. Maybe he wasn't aware that it was generally looked down on. No, he couldn't be that stupid, she decided. It was probably more that they were such a large family with such a tight grip on the Bluffs that he thought no one could challenge them. She had a feeling he might be right about that, actually.

"Not the same kind you do," she replied. "But, it seems interesting." Again, probably not the reaction most would give, but she wasn't like most and it genuinely was interesting to her. Obviously there wasn't some kind of curse that would befall anyone who did it, or else the Dieudonne wouldn't have been around for as long as they had been.

"I eat all meat." One did what they had to in order to survive. Oleander had learned that at a very young age. He thought that anyone would do the exact same thing. One couldn't afford to be picky when there was very little to be found to eat.

"You eat plant?" He asked, remembering the lioness's interest in them. He had never tried plants before. Plants certainly didn't smell enticing. He didn't see why anyone would want to eat them. But maybe there was more to plants than he realized.

Well at least he'd eat a zebra in a pinch and they wouldn't have to worry about the Bluffs demanding weekly sacrifices from the other prides on the island. Not that she thought they'd do that. Well, mostly she didn't.

"Not unless I'm sick," she replied. "They're not particularly filling. Or tasty." She didn't know how their prey could manage to survive on it, considering how bad it tasted. Maybe it was just because they didn't have any other choice. "Even then, you only have to eat a few leaves to feel better, and then it's right back to meat." She supposed some berries tasted good, but she didn't make a point to seek them out either.

Okay, so she didn't eat plants. But still she seemed to like plants. And she said that she didn't eat the same kind of meat that he did. So what did that leave her to eat? "What you eat? Special meat?" Not that he had any idea what special meat could even be. He only knew of plants and meat, was there some other sort of food group that he was missing?

"You say plant make sick. But now say plant make better?" So which was it? Did you get sick from plants or did you get better? It didn't make sense to him. How could they possibly do both?

She smiled slightly, realizing she'd confused him when that hadn't actually been her goal. "No, you and the Dieudonne eat special meat," she replied. "You eat other lions. The rest of us eat things like antelope." Though now she was seriously considering seeing just what all the fuss was about.

"Some make sick, some make better," she explained. "Some lions only care about the ones that heal, but I only care about the ones that hurt. Just think of this: I'm fighting someone over... let's say a meal. I can give myself an advantage having poison on my claws that makes their skin burn when I cut them. And then they have to see someone who uses another kind of plant to make it stop." Surely relating this to a fight would make it easier to understand.

"Eat antelope. Antelope tender. Eat rhino. Rhino tough." They ate whatever managed to find its way into the Bluffs. They just happened to be a not so picky lot. And maybe there was a coming of age ceremony. But everyone did certain things to celebrate life milestones, didn't they?

He listened as she explained to him about plants. So there were two different types of plants. That still seemed odd to him but it would seem that the woman clearly knew exactly what she was talking about.

"Make sick plant win fight." He stated, figuring that is what she was getting at. "You know make better plant? Only know sick plant?" He knew she liked the ones that made others sick but could she tell what the other type was as well?

"Tough to hunt too," she commented. It took a skilled group of hunters to bring down a rhino, and even then they could just as easily fail, the hunter becoming the hunted, as it were. And for what? He was right, the meat was tough and mostly muscle. Sure, there was a lot of it, but it wasn't the best quality.

"Exactly," she replied, pleased that he'd understood. She was figuring out how to communicate with him, she just knew it. He wasn't stupid, he just had a very broken understanding of the language she was speaking. "Mostly just the sick plants, but enough about the others to keep from accidentally poisoning myself." That was a necessity in her line of work.

"Bluffs got rhino. Bluffs got hippo. Bluffs got elephant." Ole named off some of the larger animals that had shown up within the pride and had been taken down. Of course there were also a tone of other, smaller animals but those didn't really possess the bragging rights that the larger animals got. So maybe he was boasting about his pride a little bit.

Ole didn't lack complete understanding of the Common Tongue but simply struggled to speak it. His patron showed a limited grasp for it and so he did as well. French had been much more important to learn instead. So he lacked in fluency versus understanding. He simply didn't know all of the words to convey his thoughts.

"How get sick plant but no get sick?" Because clearly she was here to collect them and not just admire them but if touching them made you sick then how did you go about collecting them?
