She smirked, feeling rather satisfied with herself. Why? Because her offer had clearly been good bait for the lion in front of her. He was a wild card, it was true, but she could appreciate that in a way that other leaders might not. And true, she wasn't a leader yet. But it was really only a matter of time before she took something for herself - most likely the Lagoon, no matter how many tries it took to dethrone the bitch queen.

And then his ultimatum; beat him in a fight and he would agree to her request. Lose and he would merely think about it. But, well, she was certain that she could beat him here and now. And if she didn't? She was also fairly certain he would still take the bait.

Her smirk spread into a grin.

He clearly spoke the same language that she did. She wasn't about to pass up an opportunity for a good fight. His body was pointed away from her, since he hadn't moved since he'd started walking away, and she lunged towards his rear end without further delay. There was no point in talking when there was a battle to be had. She lunged upward, aiming to land both of her forelegs on his hips and dig in her claws there. At the same time, she stretched her head forward to try to bite his rump. If he wanted a fight, Tiamat would give him a fight.

The only form of an answer he got from her was a grin, and then she sprang into action. He hadn't had the time to move into a more advantageous position, and instead, she had easy access to his backside. She lunged, her claws easily sinking into his hips, and a stinging pain radiating from the new, needle-point wounds. Stretching forward, she also bit him in the ass.

Caelum hissed, and attempted to swing his backside away from her - likely causing more external damage to his hip area from her claws, but it was better than risking another tail-bite. While swinging his rear away from her, he'd twist back towards her and attempt to land a heavy swat at her head with claws extended.

Success. Her claws dug into the skin of his hips and he wasn't able to move fast enough to avoid the bite to his rear end. She didn't bite too hard; the wound would be superficial at best. Her tail lashed behind her in a way that made it clear she was enjoying this, just like a cub might enjoy playing with a sibling. To Tiamat this was some kind of game.

He swung around, upsetting her grip to the point where she lost it. Her claws scraped against his flesh a little more until he finally moved away and she dropped back onto all fours. The grin on her face returned and she began to step forward to attack again, just as he swung at her with a paw. The blow landed on the side of her upper neck instead, claws tearing into flesh and the beginnings of a bruise blossoming beneath his paw. She ignored it, lunging forward to snap at the base of his throat, trying to get her teeth into the flesh there.

His swat was sloppy and his aim was off, but he was satisfied that it connected with something. Leaving small cuts in its wake, he dropped his paw shortly after landing the blow. That was around the time she lunged forward, snapping jaws seeking to land a bite at his neck. She succeeded - a little. Her bite was shallow, only pinching the edges of his skin while she likely got a mouthful of mane.

But he took that opportunity into his own paws, too. He surged forward, shoving his body into her, intending to knock into her face, bang into her teeth, or bloody her nose. He would then try to hook his right paw around her front legs and attempt to pull them out from underneath her.

Her aim was off. She's aimed for the base of his throat, hoping to just avoid the thicker parts of his main, but instead she was closer to his neck and most of what she got was a mouthful of mane. She was quick to release and pull back, knowing better than to linger in an area that put her in his range. There was no point in sticking around for such a poor grip on his flesh.

She was lucky she did that, because he surged forward suddenly, trying to shove his body into her. He booped her nose with his chest and she yanked her head farther back, to avoid the worst of the blow. It was enough that there was a bit of an ache, but no serious damage done. At the same time, Caelum tried to wrap his paw around both her legs - quite the ambitious move, and one that would not pay off so well. He got his paw around one leg, but missed the other - the gap between the two was too large. When he tried to snag them he only snagged air with his claw, and it was his ankle that pressed against the one leg he could reach. When she felt the touch from his leg, pulling forward, she quickly lifted her leg up and let his limb harmlessly by. If he had snagged the flesh she wouldn't have been able to do that.

With a snort and a raised brow his way, Tiamat brought her lifted paw up and out and aimed a strong swing at his face, claws sheathed so she wouldn't mess up his pretty eyes by accident. She hoped to hit his left cheek and cause some nasty bruising, maybe also knocking him off balance a bit with the power behind the blow.

His opponent was nimble - much unlike most opponents he fought. She slipped out of his grasp - dodging his charge, avoiding the worst of his seeking claws when he went for her front legs. He was only able to wrap his paw around the one, and even with that, she lifted her leg and let his forearm free. It was an unsuccessful venture, but one he was freed from unscathed... mostly.

He wasn't watching where her lifted paw was going, and as he noticed out of the corner that it was being lifted, he jerked back. However, his movements weren't as nimble as hers, and even though he attempted to jerk out of her paw's path - he failed. The brunt of her blow landed upon one of his cheekbones, just below his right eye. She hadn't involved any of her claws this time - which was fortunate, given the landing was so close to his eye - but the velocity of her hit was enough to leave a sore spot upon his face. Caelum stumbled back - not quite from her blow, but from trying to jerk out of its path. He scrunched up his face as she dropped her paw away and he could feel the bruise beginning to form. Ouch!

With a final trick up his figurative sleeve, when Caelum finally regained his balance, he surged forward, passing Tiamat almost entirely before attempting to dive down and wrap his jaws around her left rear ankle. If he was able to get ahold of it, he'd attempt to pull it out from underneath her and hopefully cause her to stumble on three of her legs. It was a very ambitious move, and it wasn't likely to work the same way it did in Caelum's head...

She was a seasoned warrior. Even with his experience thus far, she still had more. And that was what put her out on top again. Her paw slammed against one of his cheeks, narrowly missing his eye (which was part of why she had sheathed her claws in that moment), sure to leave some uncomfortable bruising without scarring up his pretty face at all. She smirked at the thought of it.

He was pretty, after all.

The fight was winding down and she could already tell that she had won. She stilled, letting him grab hold of her ankle with his jaws and yank it away. Since she was willing to let him have it the move was less effective, but she still stumbled backward a few inches, her legs straining to maintain her upward position.

They stood alongside each other, each facing a different direction and him with his ankle in his teeth. She nipped lightly at his rump, not attacking but playing now. "I win," she said with a smirk, her tail flicking lazily behind her, though she aimed a soft flick towards his face to tell him it was time to let go.

He had grabbed up her ankle with every ounce of ferocity left in him - and yet, even when he pulled with it in his mouth, he realized it was too easy. Turning slightly, he could see some of her, and from what he could see, she wasn't fighting back. Soon, came her voice, declaring that she won. He snorted just as her tail flicked him in the nose, and he released her ankle.

Beat again. By a female, again. He swore the lionesses wanted to hurt his pride, step on his balls, and stomp out every ounce of testosterone left in him.

"What gives you that idea?" he grumbled, circling and turning back towards her now. They both landed a few good hits on each other. He could feel quite a few sore spots on his hide, and he was sure she could too. Who was to say anyone had the higher up on anyone? "I think it was a tie." He wasn't willing to admit he had been beat by a girl.

Of course she could feel her wounds from their short fight, but Tiamat ignored them. Wounds were nothing new to her. But she didn't mind stoking his ego a little bit. The battle had been close, after all. She could concede a tie. It would not hurt her pride at all. And the fight had been very close, though she could see where she had gotten the better of him once or twice.

As he dropped her ankle from his jaws she reset it on the ground, smirking at him with a raised brow. "I suppose I can say it was a tie," she said. "As long as you will still join my pride if I win my challenge." That was all she wanted from @Caelum, after all. It was what he had promised. They hadn't discussed the results of his tie.

Of course, that all depended on her beating the shit out of Alizabeth when the time came.
