It was as if it were fate that brought him back to Amaryllis, and to these plains. If someone were to ask him why he were back here he knew he wouldn’t have a good enough answer to give them, only that it felt like a magnetic pull despite the short time he had spent here before takin’ off again. Lucien stood several feet away from the distinctive pride borders, golden gaze observin’ the field before him. Ahh, this felt so much more like home to him than anywhere else on this weird island, and it was somethin’ the beast knew he wouldn’t let slip away from him.

So after several moments of deliberation and ponderin’ would he lift his open maw up a bit, releasin’ several long and loud bellowin’ chuffs. He were wantin’ to see who all inhabited these parts, how the leaders were and if they were someone he could see himself gettin’ behind and joinin’.

sitting perfectly still, kian is angling a puzzled look at a cricket, reposed serenely on a leaf. he's trying to mimic its sounds, possibly seeking to communicate, with little success. in the distance, another sound starts up, sending the cricket fleeing up and away. that's more like it! this sound, he's heard before. it's far more intense than the cricket's incessant chirping, and remembering how his father had answered an exact chuff such as this one with a chuff of his own, kian sought to replicate the sound. a new challenge! he trundles towards the source of the chuffing, returning it with high-pitched chuffs of his own that probably sound more akin to yips. breaking out of the high grass, he spots a large, brown male. "found you!" he brings out, excited and a little surprised at his own success. copying what he'd seen his father do, he then proceeds to weave around the male's limbs, rubbing his head clumsily against the other's legs. this was how this stuff was done, right?

Ghyslaine

The sound of the chuff drew Ghyslaine from where she had been napping under a tree. Hauling herself to her feet, she set off towards the sound. Though the call seemed to be more centered for Vio, she was curious about whomever it was. If it seemed she wasn’t needed or wanted for the interaction- she would leave the caller in her friends capable paws. She grows a trace wary as she scents a familiar scent- @Kian , and she speeds up her arrival only to see the cub weaving through the paws of a strange male. She approaches carefully, her eyes on the cub and the male. She didn’t want to embarrass Kian, by calling him away but at the same time… this male was a stranger…

“Can I help you?” she asks, trying to force the warmth she normally has to her voice. The male wasn’t what unsettled her- not really- she just worried for the cubs, and their safety. “I’m Ghyslaine, Heiress here.” She says as an introduction offering him a smile.

It would be the pitch of a cub chuffin' in the close distance that catch's Lucien's attention first. A brow would rise, glancin' in the direction the sound had come from, and not too long after would the bouncin' image of a bronze child would come into view. A friendly grin would tug at his lips as he watched the boy, ears prickin' forward as he exclaimed somethin' about findin' him before he darted for his legs, weavin' in between them as he rubbed up against the man. A deep chuckle would rumble within his chest with this, but not before speakin' a warning of sorts for the boy's safety: "Ya sure you should be greetin' strangers like that?" Tone was spoken in a soft yet stern manner, like how a parent would ask their child a question on whether or not what they were doin' was such a good idea.

Before Lucien could take a step back to give he and the cub some distance would another arrive, golden gaze now flittin' to look up at her. "Greetin's there, Miss @Ghyslaine," a bob of his head in a greetin' accompanyin' his drawl, "I'm Lucien Hanover. And I hope ya can." A brief pause, tail flickin' behind him before he spoke again. "I was here once in Amaryllis, years ago, and nothin' really felt like home t' me. I'm but a simple man who enjoys his plains, and I cannot recall this pride ever bein' here when I was around." Another pause, this time to give a quick glance at the boy before returnin' his attention back onto the Heiress. "Can I ask you what yer pride is about? The rules, how it's ran?" And if it were somethin' he aligned with he would dive intro the reason why he were truly here.

Overhead, the stranger's voice rumbles out towards him, so after one last clumsy rub against his limbs, he stops in-between his legs. He looks up at the large male, eyes twinkling with proud delight, eagerly awaiting the male's verdict. Is he really sure if he should be greeting strangers like that? He knows that's how he saw his dad do it, but judging by the subtle undercurrent of reprimand in the other's tone, Kian suspects his greeting prowess may contain a few kinks after all. A little more unsure now, he only shrugs, sinking humbly down to his haunches. He perks up again when Ghyslaine arrives, jumping eagerly up towards her to hug her paw, which he engages in a very brief wrestling match.

"I'm Kian!" He shouts jarringly as the male introduces himself to Ghyslaine as Lucien Hanover. They were kind of big, so he wasn't sure if they could hear him from all the way down here, and apparently, little Kian wanted badly to be part of the conversation. For an instant, he's distracted by the back and forth flicking of Lucien's tail. He follows the movement like a kitty-cat clock, mesmerized, then decides that Lucien's front end is more interesting after all-- or more specifically, Lucien's accent. "Your voice sounds funny." He says earnestly, already taking a liking to him. He expectantly cranes his head towards Ghyslaine. "Will we show him around?"

Upon her arrival, and speaking, Kian disengages from the male, and comes to wrestle against her paw- so she moves her weight off it, and absently, wrestles back against him, a soft purring sort of sound leaving her, at the action, though her eyes are on the stranger.

The stranger that voiced, what Ghyslaine had been thinking about him addressing a stranger as such. The male greets her, and introduces himself as @Lucien Hanover, and Ghyslaine gives him a warm smile. Now that she had decided @Kian was safe, or as safe as he could be with a stranger there... who didn't seemed inclined to harm him.

Lucien was fine by her- based on that alone. "The plains are new," she explains, as he mentions that he hadn't seen this area before. "We had some crazy weather... and it seemed to just appear." She added. She looks down at Kian, and beams. "How about we tell him about our home first?" She asks the youngster.

"Kian's father," She said, "Violarum rules the plains here." She explains. "We value our family bond, and always invite others to join us. We value our own personal freedoms, but we do ask that our members... act responsibly- to not bring unwanted tensions to the pride." A distinct pause. "All we ask of our memebrs is that they contribute to caring for the pride, defend it and the cubs if they need too- and above all, find their happiness." She says with a warm smile- before looking down to Kian.

"Am I forgetting anything, Kian?" She asks, eager to give the young royal a chance to say something if he wishes.

He'd watch as the cub slinks away from goin' in between his legs and sits, only to be occupied once more by now wantin' to wrestle with the lioness's paw. Lucien would watch with a subtle humorous expression on his face, his attention bouncin' back and forth between @Kian and @Ghyslaine. "Nice t' meet you, Kian," he would respond with a dip of his maw toward the boy, a chortle of laughter then comin' from the boy's words about the way he spoke, more particularly that he 'sounded funny.' The dun man wouldn't take it as an insult, though - quite the contrary. Lucien knew he had a thick drawl, a tone of voice that many seemed to have never heard of until they crossed his path. He took pride in bein' different, because how fun was it to be ordinary in life?

As Ghyslaine began to answer his questions about the pride would his ears perk to full attention. So this land had just recently been cultivated into a pride of it's own. Interestin'. The woman would then speak of the boy's father, who coincidentally was also the ruler here, goin' further into tellin' him the main points about livin' within the pride. "Those sound like things I can get behind," Lucien would finally reply, a flick of his tail as golden eyes looked back down at Kian as she included him in the conversation. "If y'all will have me I would most appreciate it." Plains territories were where the cowboy always called home, somethin' about them always pullin' at his heartstrings and navigatin' him to them - this place bein' no different.

In the lull of silence, when Kian has yet to say anything, Ghyslaine shifts on her feet. She nods at the male, @Lucien and with a grin, steps aside gesturing the land with her tail. "Then Welcome home, Lucien." She says- happy to bring the male into their home. "I can- we can, if @Kian isn't busy- show you around if you like?" She offers with a friendly grin, between the male and the cub, as she waits to see what they will say. Do they have time for some exploration, or does Lucien wish to explore on his own? Whichever he preferred, she would make time for him.

As Ghyslaine addresses the male, Kian has her fixed with an unbroken stare. Only when she answers his question does he relinquish eye contact, nodding at last. She regales Lucien about the plains, and he listens obediently, compartilizing the information for a different time. When she finishes her spiel, she aks him if she's forgetting anything. Feeling the male's expectant golden gaze bear down on him, his features scrunch up with thought, not wanting to disappoint. Suddenly he perks up, apparently experiecing an Eureka moment. "I can touch my nose with my tongue." He proceeds to demonstrate, eyes crossing with concentration as he attempts to touch his tongue to his nose. He abandons the effort when Ghyslaine announces that they can show Lucien around at last, springing up eagerly. "I'm not busy!" He denies, already beginning to rush ahead of the pair. "We can show you my den! It's nice, warm, and my sisters and brother are there." Then another idea springs to mind. "Oh, but maybe we could watch the sunset first. The plains are the best place to watch the sun go down." And another. "Or, or-- if you want, we can have a drink before that. Sometimes there's plant-eaters by the water, and it's funny to sneak up behind them. I just like scaring them." He rattles endlessly, apparently not in the least out of breath as loses himself in the excitement of showing their new, funny-sounding friend around their home.

The cub had spunk, that was for sure, and it would cause for a rumblin' chuckle to come from the man. He were watchin' @Kian with an amused look upon his face to see him go through with lickin' his tongue (not wantin' to spoil the kid's fun by informin' him that all cats could touch their nose with their tongue) but he would stop once @Ghyslaine welcomed him to his new home "I appreciate it," the dun lion would repeat, a grin curlin' his lips. Kian would then speak up whenever he were asked if he'd like to join the two of them on showin' him around his new home, ears flickin' as the boy named off several things that they could do durin' the tour. "How 'bout we start with showin' me the lay of the land, first?" A gentle way to tell Kian perhaps another time where he wasn't as tired as he was now. "Shall we?" An expectant look would be given to Ghyslaine then, awaitin' for her to begin to show him around.
