NATURE’S WRATH

Spring comes in like a lion.
Something is anew.
Nature is calming.
Nature is thriving.
Will you heal?

As insects had devoured and destroyed for weeks on end, now the sands were quiet. No more loud buzzing and flapping of locust wings, no more constant chewing and baring the already barren land even further. Instead, like some miracle, the skies had opened and let lose spring rain on the dry ground, forcing the plant life to rebuild and making important herbs sprout. Now they were growing quickly, ready to be plucked and to serve the lions of the land! Far more than usual are the plants that aid nursemaids, as if to encourage the inhabitants of Amaryllis’ fertility.

Violarum's words played in her head- Not normal. She was finding that a lot of things about Amaryllis were not normal- even more so as she neared the sands with a perplexed look on her face. She didn't know herbs could grow in sand, but she supposed it was possible. She never lived in a sand reigon before, was there soil under the sand? Or was this just a mystery of the land?

Regardless, her eyes instantly began to study the flora that was sprouting about. Beyond interested and excited, Ilithyia found the chance to gather more herbs- and there seemed to be plenty to pick from! First, she made her way to some herbs she knew would help with mothers or cubs, smiling as she started to harvest what she could and she made sure she did so gently and carefully, part of her truly believing that even flowers felt pain.

Ghyslaine

Traveling to the desert, she only hoped that there would be some positive change there. As she neared the desert, she spotted another lioness- someone who she did not know- and then she saw what she was really wanted… herbs. Herbs that would help the birthing mothers- herbs that could strengthen the newest mother in the rainforest. She speaks to the other lioness as she approaches, with a polite smile. “Hello. It looks like the herbs are coming back… Surely that’s a good sign.” She said, though the last bit is more of a spoken thing to herself. Surely, this meant that the land was healing and things were slowly returning to how they were before?

She was focused on gathering what she could- or truly, what interested her. In between plucking herbs she would find her eyes gently studying the landscape and the Flora, eager to commit most of it to memory with the odd growth here. Her attention was only drawn away from her task when a polite voice rang out.

Company!

Ilithyia perked up instantly, eyes eagerly landing on the lioness and she gave a bright, friendly smile in return. "Yes! Very good! I've never seen them grow in sand before. Have you?" She replied, tone light and gentle, Ilithyia making quick work of setting her gathered herbs aside to focus on the other woman.

a land that time forgot it is strange the difference a few weeks make. previously it had seemed like the world was falling down around their ears. now? now it is quiet, almost peaceful. almost back to the way it was before, as if something was helping them along this path. her paws burn with the sand below ( she is meant for grasslands and fields, not the desert! ) and her walk is a little unsteady, but eira is on the hunt. looking and sniffing and taking. she has a gentle hand, though -- not wanting to take more than what the land can provide. it seems she isn't the only one with this thought process, either. quietly she chuffs out as she sees two lionesses up ahead, offering a smile as she steps into their orbit. it seems we had the same idea! she says with a little chuff, grinning wide. looking between @Ghyslaine and @Ilithyia, her ears perk forward -- looking at the haul the lioness has gathered for herself. i've never seen so much greenery in the sand... eira says, wondering aloud. even though, you know, she didn't have much experience with deserts. is it always like this? she asks, showing her hand as her head tilts to the side.

The female- @Ilithyia she addressed is quick to reply, and Ghyslaine’s head shakes in answer. “I didn’t know that they could grow in the sand.” She said softly. Maybe it is a sign, an apology from nature for being so wild and finicky. As another arrives, @Dhaveira she speaks. “I… haven’t been here before so I can’t say for sure but I’ve never known herbs to grow in the sand.” No where in her travels, had she seen anything quite like this before. It was bizarre at best, and mildly concerning at worst. Surely, though, this meant that the worst part of this spring was behind them.

It seemed they were both stumped at the realization flowers and herbs could grow in the sand. Ilithyia smiles, nodding, while her eyes wander back to the scene around them. Another joins, seeming just as in awe and confused about the whole sand thing as they both had been.

"Odd, isn't it? But... beautiful too. Mother Nature really works in mysterious ways!" She chirps happily, summing it up to that nature was just odd and magical, what else would explain it? "You guys should gather some. I bet the quality of these are amazing!" She adds as she picks a few more herbs that specifically helped mothers, a gentle smile on her face the whole time.

a land that time forgot neither of the two women shoo her away and she is grateful for that, shooting them a beaming expression to show it. happy to stay and learn, she listens intently to what the other women have to say — unfortunately, it seems they are just as perplexed as she is. still: it doesn’t seem like a bad thing… and for that, she is grateful. the last few months had been full of strange and horrid weather. did this mean things were finally going back to normal? she could certainly hope. maybe these are special plants, she suggests with a little wiggle of her tail tuft — a mischievous glint in her eyes. her gaze lingers on the herbs that Ilithyia has gathered, and she smiles — a soft thing, wistful. those were the ones i was going to grab, too, she admits with almost a sheepish tone. wishful thinking, i suppose! she says with a little laugh, bright as always. they were plants for new mothers and infants, something she could only want but never have. i’m dhaveira, by the way! she says, smile not fading a moment. @Ghyslaine @Ilithyia

She decides right off the bat that she likes these two lionesses. For Ghys, it’s rather simple really- to decide that she likes them, when they’re all here for herbs- and that is a simple shared interest. She listens to them as they speak, and carefully picks a few herbs for herself, trying to stay out of their ways and not take more than her fair share.

When the one introduces herself as @Dhaveira - Ghys smiles and nods to her and @Ilithyia and introduces herself as well. “I’m Ghyslaine. I live in the Rainforest- if you two are ever in the neighborhood- feel free to stop by.” A distinct pause. “I need to get going. I’ve got a mother to get some of these herbs back too. It’s been quite nice meeting you both!” She said warmly, and softly, before she would turn and make her own way out and way from them- heading home.

a land that time forgot their meeting today is brief, and that’s just as well — they all, certainly, had things to do. especially now that the weather was finally turning around, it seemed life had come back to the island — and with it, the hustle and bustle that always accompanied it. it was very nice to meet you! eira chirrups to ghys as she makes her departure, giving a small nod and consideration to her offer. as for the rest of her afternoon… i’d like to grab a few more, i think, she says with a quiet smile, looking to the remaining woman. lilac ears perk forward, head tilting — would you like to help me finish gathering? if not, there would be no hard feelings. but company always made chores go easier, and @Ilithyia seemed like the type of woman eira enjoyed. exit w/ ilithyia?
