Where there was a congregation of her pride she would be there, and this was no exception. Granted, the swarm of insects surrounding them was certainly an exception, something that she had never seen before and honestly never wanted to see again. At this point she could barely see her kin in the midst of them, but she made her way to them nonetheless, attempting to stay out of the way of the other lions she saw around.

Talisa! Tamlen! Tullia! What be happening? she called over the chaos. Sheesh, that was a lot of names starting with T. She'd missed a memo in naming her own children, apparently.

Maua protect us, save us from this, she prayed fervently, joining her voice to the others.

This wasn't a place he usually came, but he was thankful that he had when chaos erupted and he spotted @Hrefna in the distance. He struggled to make his way to her, hoping to shield her with his body from the worst of it. He could make out her words just barely, hearing her praying to Vellen.

"Vellen help us, protect us in this place. Let us return to your shelter safely," he prayed, hoping that lending his voice to hers would make it easier for their god to hear them. They could certainly use his help right about now. The question was, could he hear them from where they currently were in the desert?

Violarum was very confused. Yes, more than normal. His idle wandering had plopped him rather incoveniently in the midst of unfurling chaos; a rumble of the earth that near quaked his own bones, then the distant buzz of something. As if the roar of billions of wings was not enough, suddenly the dunes seemed scattered with lions who were all squawking and carrying on like pork chops!

Entirely bewildered, and yet endlessly entertained, Violarum stood at the crest of a sand dune with his maw raised to the sky; sensing the incoming flutter of wings, though having little idea what to truly expect. Until of course, the sky began to fall dark.

Wide-eyed and puzzled, the burly male shuffled his way down into an earth-dip, detecting the scent of @Lothar and pursuing it with a secretive urgency. If he stood next to somebody else, maybe whatever this was would eat him instead! _code

The prayers ushered under her breath were so swiftly drowned out by the caterwauling of the locusts. Even the frightened presences and shouting of other lions did not interrupt her; and even though the battering of these insects hurt her, their loud cries screaming in her ears, flooding her senses with such an overwhelming that even she was not sure she could stomach it, Asherah found herself unmovable, unshakable. Tendrils of raven-black fur became disheveled and tangled with locusts, her eyes prickled with tears as the sand and wind and insects battered her relentlessly.

Was this a sign from Him, that she were meant to be here? To witness such a divine providence so soon after her arrival into Amaryllis, her reunification with Mordecai and Talitha?

A smile unfurled on her lips.

And then, she was grabbed.

No. No!

Her pale eyes flew wide open, suddenly within the jaws of another lion who seemed desperate to save her from the swarm. Swift did they turn upon @Sahir, at first overcome with surprise, before suddenly darkening in ire. “How dare you!” she cried above the cacophony roaring all about them. Once firmly back onto her paws, she put herself nearly nose-to-nose with the king, unafraid of who he may be, or where he may have come from. “He is protecting me. He is the one who brought them here in the first place.” For everything was apart of this grand plan, to realize all what was to become of this once-beautiful place. She would be protected from it—but only if she stood unafraid and persevering. Not by having any meddling bystanders.

If he had expected cooperation, he received anything but. She scrambled to her paws and stared at him with bewilderment, Sahir letting go only when he was forced to. Then she lunged at him, her nose nearly touching his own and he could feel her hot breath on his face as she scolded him. “How dare you! He is protecting me. He is the one who brought them here in the first place.” Sahir knit his brows together and flattened his ears back, trying to dull some of the maddening hum.

"Who?!" He shouted over the deafening blackness, glancing behind her despite himself as if there was someone he had missed.

With a grunt, he rolled his eyes and turned to depart from her, not eager to add a maddened lioness to the list of predicaments he was in that day. He began to pick up speed as he ran, though the insects were still everywhere he looked as his paws beat against the sand.

Aarani had seen Maua with her own two eyes. She had met the deity themselves and been blessed with children born of two women, but she couldn't fathom they had anything to do with this nonsense. The woman ducked her head as she ran, doing what she could to avoid the oncoming swarm while praying for protection. She knew this wasn't Maua's doing, but why hadn't the deity stepped in to solve all the issues? Were they as powerless as the rest of them? What did that mean? Maua, please, she prayed softly, veering out of the swarm to duck behind a tree.

Ears pulled, while on her silver eyes worry and sadness filled her expression. Eyes watching the plague eat the food, destroy everything. If this Maua's punishment's, she wondered if there would be any salvation left. As she kept with her prayers and useless attempt to cease the bad omens, ears switched up as a familiar lion had come to her side. Tamlen her old and dear friend. In these awful moments knowing somoni as important to her as he was was a sight that brought her comfort. She aimed to bury her face on his massive and fluffy chest. "Did Maua left us?...Even after all we had been through on their name?..." She said to @Tamlen, in the low. All of this along the war and the death haunting their home were breaking more and more with her faith on their creator. Pulling away with tears threatening with coming down her wheat cheeks she spotted @Talisa , her sister approach. She aimed to retain the tears, she never wanted her family to see her like this, not again.

She always tried to be strong, to look strong, to aboid worrying her loved ones. But right now she could sense her forces fade, fade with the wind. Oh Tali...," She returned the affection, embracing Talisa's head with her chin and lower neck.

Then @Heloise. "I dont know...I wish i had answers for you all..but I can only think Maua is not happy.." What else it could be?.

Talisa hated to see any of her family emotionally and physically at the end of their rope. To see them so wounded, confused and battered by all that seemed to be happening to them as of late. She wished that she could ease their suffering and give them their answers but no matter how connected she had always felt to Maua, she would never have all of them. I have doubted since the mist that this is Maua's doing. Maua would never have subjected us to this much and force us to lose things. Though, she couldn't give any definitive answer to @Tullia as to whether it was or was not. Simply that she could not fathom that They would do all of this because They were unhappy with Their children. @Heloise arrived and quickly asked what was going on. Giving a small prayer much like everyone else had within their panicked states. Perhaps the land is sick. That there is something unforeseen that has truly poisoned Amaryllis. When the migrants had come in, that had been something that all of them had seen with their own eyes. It's own kind of poison in certain areas but this seemed like it stemmed much further. Was Maua angry? It certainly seemed plausible and yet... The idea that it was simply that the land was sick made more sense to her, or perhaps she simply refused to believe that their god had turned her back on them. Surely she wouldn't? What could they have done to displease her so?

Aye, maybe so, she agreed with Talisa. Spirits guide us to find out what it is. She remained silent for a time, lost in her own thoughts as she watched the locusts. They would devastate the greenery, making prey far more scarce. There could be a famine approaching, and while she knew the natives could have weathered the storm on their own, there were now far more than them within the lands, and not all of them would take this peacefully.

Why wouldn't Maua warn us? she mused.

His laughter rang above the distant humming as the Starke lion watched the locusts block out the horizon and the golden sand like an ugly dark storm cloud. Silhouettes of lions were devoured whole, disappearing into the chaos of wings and legs. "Oh, werdende Macht - komm und balanciere dieses verlassene Land!" He began to yell again. "Bestrafe die Übeltäter! Zeige ihnen keine Gnade!" @Violarum's approach didn't seem to deter the cleric from his manic shouting. He turned, pointing towards where the Oasis lay. "Kommen! Diesen Weg!" And come they did. The flutter of wings and buzzing grew louder and louder, until the cloud was upon the two men standing on the hill. Lothar didn't stop laughing, until some giant locust crashed into his mouth and caused the bald cleric to begin spitting and coughing violently.
