To think, only the day before there had been some uncertainty that the place of his birth might no longer be his home. It had all depended on the outcome of a single battle, a challenger to his father's reign.

Of course, the dark boy had never had any doubt that his father would come out the victor. There was a reason why his father had been in power for so long, and it was because he was not weak. Not like the other prides, with their constantly shifting leaders and power struggles. No, Andal was safe beneath the leadership of Seneca. There was no doubt in his mind of that.

Artæmis had returned from the challenge, prickly after his sister's interference and insistence that he needed a chaperone. He was on edge, anyways, with his mother's disappearance weighing on his mind as well. Only six months old, he wasn't fully outgrown from his need for his mother's presence and guidance. He and his siblings would survive, yes, but that did not mean they weren't aware that something was wrong with the way things were.

He'd found a hefty branch of wood that morning, the day after the challenge, and he was taking out his frustrations on it, digging his claws into the bark and tearing away the outer layer aggressively. He was a calm boy, but he still felt things and needed to let them out. He was still a cub when all was said and done, no matter how grown up he tried to seem to those around him. His teeth bit deep into the wood and it felt good to let out this pent up energy roiling inside of him.

There were many things that made Promætheus' shoulders bunch up in stress that day. Yesterday had been quite a day, with a strange lion coming to the desert to challenge his father. Unlike his other siblings, the fact that the fight had gone down wasn't particularly what put him on edge, but the fact that if his father had lost, he would have lost everything he knew from his home. And losing his mother was one thing, but he didn't know if he could cope with losing his home, too.

The maroon-coated lion sauntered towards his larger brother, @Artæmis, as he took his anger out on a chunk of wood in the sand. Promætheus stopped nearby, watching with a thoughtful expression, swishing his red-tipped tail in pensivity.

"You could spar me if that'd make you feel better," he offered, finding that the tips of his claws itched as he looked at the marred wood beneath Artæmis's claws.

The approach of one of his brothers, @Promætheus, tore his attention away from the branch for a brief moment, his claws still buried deep into the wooden branch. The spoken words fell on closed ears for a moment as she shifted his focus, but when the words registered in his mind his ears pricked forward as he eyed the maroon boy, slightly smaller than himself, for a brief moment.

Yeah? he asked nonchalantly, the frustration in his mind restrained and kept out of his voice. He returned to his branch, flexing his claws even deeper into the wood before drawing them out just slightly, as if he was going to continue his attack on the branch. With little warning, he drew one set of claws out and used his right paw to fling the branch of wood in his brother's direction, hoping to distract or even hit the other boy with it.

The branch out of his way and his hopeful distraction complete, he followed the branch to his slightly smaller brother and lunged towards him, hoping to use his weight to knock the other boy over. His claws were sheathed...for now. As he leaped towards Prom, he opened his arms wide in an attempt to sling them around his brother's neck or up over his back, to better use his weight to push his brother over.

Promaetheus watched his brother with quiet pensivity as he finished clawing the chunk of wood, but gave him no real answer as to whether they would spar. Artaemis' size did not deter the adolescent from wanting to wrestle with him. Perhaps this was a bold endeavor from an obviously disadvantaged adversary like Promaetheus, but he was up for the challenge. Surely, in life, he would be faced with the same situations sometimes, and it wouldn't hurt to learn how to deal with them now.

Because Promaetheus was watching, when Artaemis threw the wood chunk at him, he was ready for it (even if he didn't know it was coming). With the sudden action, Promaetheus bounced out of the way, sending a spray of sand into the wind and creating a slight indentation in the unstable ground he stood upon. It wasn't long after that that @Artæmis came barrelling for him. The two siblings crashed into each other, and Promaetheus was easily knocked from his feet, landing on his back in the sand below him, creating a slight splash.

Promaetheus was quick to worm his way underneath his brother, though. He was not just going to fall like a bag of bones. He may have been smaller, but he was strong, too. And he'd show Artaemis that. While Artaemis climbed on top of him, wrapping his forelegs around his shoulders, Promaetheus sought to pull his brother down by the shoulders, to pull him into range of his seeking jaws. If he was able, Promaetheus would have attempted to plant a chomp somewhere near Artaemis' chest area.

Sand sprayed beneath his paws as he rushed his brother, barreling into him and successfully knocking him onto his back. More sand scattered beneath them as they collided and Promaetheus fell. He successfully got his arms wrapped around the other boy's shoulders, even as Prom wiggled his way underneath Artaemis.

Prom's own paws wrapped around his shoulders and pulled him closer. Close enough that he felt teeth dig into the skin of his chest as Prom's attack hit home. Artie growled his annoyance that his brother had been able to sink his teeth in first. As his brother pulled on him, Artie allowed himself to be dragged down, letting his legs go limp as he attempted to use his larger size to literally crush his brother.

His own teeth sought purchase in the smaller boy's ear, trying grab onto the delicate body part and give a tug, though he was actually being careful to not do any permanent damage if he did manage to get his teeth into it. He wasn't sure how his father would feel if he found that he had torn up his brother's ear.

your boy is a soldier Fights are not uncommon between the growing princes, and finding his brothers sparring doesn’t surprise Scorpius in the slightest. Irritated that he had missed the beginning of it, however, the goliath comes to settle on the sidelines. "I’m fighting the winner," he announces, whether the pair listen to him or not - it doesn’t matter. He’d given fair warning and if the winner didn’t see him coming, it isn’t his problem. The prince strains forward to watch, hungrily absorbing the fight and the moves his brothers pull on each other. It’s training, if any adults asked, but Scorpius simply liked hitting things, making others hurt, and above all else - winning.

The familiar sound of her brother squabbling brought Léonie out of the comfort of the den and into the sunshine. She was guided by her spotted ears, led in by the ruckus the pair made on the dunes. Scorpius, too, must’ve overheard them — he moved only several strides ahead of his littermare, who came in next to him as he declared that he would fight the winner.

A devilish smile carved its way across her muzzle. “Gonna gonna fight an already weakened opponent, @Scorpius?” she teased. It would’ve been an advantage on the battlefield, but her brothers were merely sparring. It really didn’t provide much as far as bragging rights went, especially among his littermates. “Not really a challenge, is it?” the imp poked at her eldest brother. “I’ll fight with whoever wins. If you actually want some real competition.” Not that 2-on-1 match may have sounded fair, but of the pair, one would be tired and the other was a mere girl. Surely Scorpius could handle that.

Promaetheus barely realized when his other siblings joined them, though when @Léonie's voice piped up about fighting the winner, he realized that she was here. As was @Scorpius. Oh, so they had an audience now? This urged Promaetheus to fight harder, but by this point, @Artæmis thought it was funny to use his weight against his brother.

Artaemis crushed his mouth in an uncomfortable, somewhat open position - so much so that he couldn't even hold the bite he had landed. And instead, from underneath his colossal-sized brother, all one could hear was muffled complaints as Promaetheus kicked out his legs in an attempt to get his brother off.

Squished and in a vulnerable position, Artaemis was easily able to land a well-placed bite to his ear - more playful than vicious. Promaetheus felt the rough tug on the appendage, though it didn't hurt as much as it did bearing Artaemis' weight.

At one point, he managed to lift his brother enough to free his face, to which he came out gasping for air. "Artie, get off! You're fat!" That was when he attempted to use both his forearm and back leg of the same side to tip his brother off, hoping that he could push hard enough to free himself.

Laying on top of Promaetheus gives him the perfect advantage to see his other siblings approaching. @Scorpius is quick to announce that he will be fighting the winner - which obviously means that after he beats Prom he'll be in for another match. Hardly fair when he would already be tired from the first one, but whatever. If both of his brothers wanted a beating, who was he to say no?

And then @Léonie arrives, claiming she will fight with the winner. Ah, so that will even things out a little bit, then.

Prom was struggling underneath him, kicking at him. He came a little too close to the family jewels a couple of times, causing Artie to wince a little. There's be some nice bruising where those paws managed to smack him, but he was amusing himself.

"Did you guys hear that?" he said, feigning deafness when his brother dared to call him fat. "It's like someone's talking to me." At least he was in a better mood now that he was beating the crap out of his brother. Prom had managed to cheer him up a little.

Still letting his body remain limp, it ended up being rather easy for his brother to use the legs on one side of his body to topple Artaemis off of him. As he was pushed away, Artaemis tried to grab him with one of his front paws, extending his claws to bite into the flesh of, hopefully, his brothers shoulder, if he wasn't pushed out of the way first.

Success!

After suffocating under his brother's weight for what felt like an eternity, Promaetheus was able to topple him off of him. Though, the boy reached out a clawed paw to right himself, to keep himself from falling all the way, and that clawed paw latched itself into Promaetheus' shoulder. The young lion growled in pain, feeling his brother's claws sink into his skin and tug uncomfortably. The wound was likely not that deep, but it still hurt.

Frustration bubbled inside of him and so did rage. The injury pissed him off and he felt ridiculed and annoyed because his brother was so much bigger than him. So, Promaetheus swung a reactive clawed paw for his brother's face, attempting to scratch him right back - and not caring if he hit anything vital for the sake of getting even.
