meet you where the spirit meets the bones, black sand stretches ever on into a churning sea. the waves crash and tumble in a sound that is less like the lullaby of her first night in amaryllis--hushhushhush, that sea had whisper--and more like an angry chorus. it warns passersby to stay away, to keep themselves on the shore, far from the hidden currents waiting to sweep them under. some childish part of her thinks this must be the watery gate of the underworld--death's lonely ocean. the muted tones of the place certainly seem to agree.

she's a spit of gold in all this darkness as she wanders along the shoreline, eyes pinned on the horizon beyond stone parapets and seafoam. it's been weeks since she's last seen aidoneus, a name that still brings a clang of disappointment and hurt into her chest despite their brief time knowing one another. it was stupid, girlish thing to hope she'd find a true mother figure in the woman. after all, elide had been left here for a reason, there was no hope for the unwanted.

she shrinks. it's just so damn cold,' elide lies to herself, knowing it was something much worse than damp, frigid ocean shores that made her wilt and shiver.

a grunt is all she allows herself before she's calmly picking up those broken, misplaced pieces of herself and moving on. it's all she knows how to do; survive. as much as she hated the sea and the way the wind smells of salt and deep water mysteries, the crash of the sea's anger was the only way to drown out her thoughts.

the only way to drown out this constant loneliness.

The red yearling had been struggling to know what to do next, where life would get her next. Lost was the perfect word to describe her current situation, but not necessarily phiscally lost, but emotional and spiritually. Many weeks passed since she last saw any of her kin, and that brought in her a wave of uncertainty, of fear, with so many enemies around she had been doing her very best to stay safe. But it didn't take away the wish to see her family again. But when?

She walked through the shore as it was the closest place she could feel like home. With the beaches and the waves, it was the closest to anything familiar, with Vellen on it. She was born near it after all. Her eyes were lost in the memory, as her red limbs moved through the dark sands.curly hairs moved along the winds, pink jewels lurking and there she spotted a good spot, a lioness. She approached cautiously, needy of company after so long.. Hello She would say as she stopped at a few meters from the other yearling. Who are you? Was she an enemy?

meet you where the spirit meets the bones, the sea churns and it screams and it carries a wine-dark heart to keep the loneliness at bay. elide nearly startles at the soft greeting, the waves having drowned out the sound of footsteps on the sand. a cautious turn of the head reveals a girl around her age, all curly red fur and pink eyes. she's a vivid splash of color in all this muted darkness, all these terrible and gloomy feelings thundering through her, and elide has never been more grateful for company. it shows in the sigh of relief sagging through her shoulders; in the softening of the corners of her eyes.

"hello," she manages, ears pressing forward a little too eagerly. she'd forgotten that when lost, bruised heart cried out in the dark, others answered in the same language: loneliness. "Oh, uh, I'm Elide." nobody.

the black sands cling to her toes where she buries them, clenching them through the sand to keep her grounded, to keep her from fleeing. "I was just wandering," she rambles on, not entirely sure how to make proper conversation anymore. all those years of ettiquette lessons, wasted. "you?"

Herself had lost any practice with socializing with others. If she ever had them. Trusting wasn't a new issue for the Sigrun, from a very young age she had pushed others away from her space, keeping everyone out to avoid having her heart broken. Or even more see her loved ones hurt. She was better on her own, or that was how she used to think before all of this happened. Now a lone and without a home anymore, loneliness had become a constant in her life. Something she didn't like but saw herself forced to be. And right now driven by her thirst for relationships with whoever, she faced a complete strangers. But she knew she didn't have bad intentions, not against the other lioness atleast..

Zahra. She would share her surname, for precaution. With Rike around she couldn't give her Family's name freely. I find myself in the same boat.. She commented..

meet you where the spirit meets the bones, two souls adrift in the same sea--one gold, one red--and each not sure where to go next. at least, that's how it feels, like zahra is a kindred spirit. elide watches the darker girl with open-faced relief, the weight of wandering slowly ebbing from her shoulders. "Zahra," she repeats, trying to commit it to memory. "You have a lovely name." a beat. a pause. a shuddering, hesitant breath. "are you from here?" or were you left on strange shores to be forgotten like me?

"I didn't even know this place existed until I...came here," she rambles on. it's the anxiety and the excitement bubbling up in her chest, forcing her to push sound in the pockets of quiet. "aidoneus found me." she can't stop that hint of pride and warmth in her voice at the mention of the seaglass woman who'd saved her on the shore, even if it comes with a pang of hurt and abandonment. "and now," she moves past those pieces of hurt with a small smile, "I'm here. It's a boring story, honestly."

Oh, thanks. She wasn't used to hear compliments towards her. Which gave her a warmth yet unknown sensation in her chest. She wasn't too expressive nor she knew what being affectionate or kind was. All of her life she had been sticking around family traditions, doing her best to catch up with her older sibling who she saw as models, yet too far from her to even reach such greatness. Greatness she saw towards them. Now without a home, she didn't know if she had any chances anymore, to prove her parents, siblings and family who she was and how she could become an asset to the Sigrun name.

She let a sigh roam free from her lungs, product of those thoughts of a life she didn't know about anymore. Lost in this world she was. Not at all. I'm from a pride. Well, i was born there. But i don't find myself living the anymore as someone had taken it and banished me and my family out of it. She felt anger, and disappointment both to the usurper for doing so and her to be unable to stop it.

Who's Aidoneous? Not like it would be useful but she did y see it wrong to ask. Ears flattened as she listened to the other yearlings words. Me too. Well saw my home being stolen by a an asshole. So yes my story is quiet boring as well. And as far as she could see in the horizon it light will remain that way.
