Lucien always wondered what types of prey would call this high up home. It was what brought him here today, his curiosity getting the better of him. Yellow eyes observed his surroundings while he padded softly forward, a scent sticking out from the res that wafted in the warm air. So there was prey here but he wasn't sure exactly what type. His belly growled at the thought of something big, something that would feed not only him but any other lion that may want to help him for several days, if they took enough with them. Letting out several echoing chuffs, the cowboy awaits to see if any others would gather, body now lowering itself toward the cool rock surface as he crept forward.

oh. imogen recognizes him.

the intertwining of their fates again is familiar. the promise of a meal has her heeding her call once more, only this time, she is the first to arrive. imogen approaches slowly, feeling bare without the foliage of lowerlands to shield her. doe eyes seek to meet his gaze and she dips her head slowly, lips twitching upwards into the semblance of a soft smile before it falls flat. the medic gazes in the direction of the scent blown towards them on the breeze and she readies herself, chin held just a little higher and shoulders held back a little prouder. "i'll help." she finally announces, as if her dedication wasn't already obvious and she settles herself behind the hunter, awaiting his direction.

The half maned male ended up answering the call. It would be good to be able to stretch his legs for a bit. He needed something to do to alleviate the boredom that had set in. Once he got there he found only two individuals at the present.

"Found something already or just hoping that something is around?" The male queried before he turned his muzzle to the air in order to sniff around for the scent of prey. Hopefully there was some sort of indicator there to allow him to know in which direction to turn his attention.

Sometimes Hyperion went out of his way to climb Freyr Peak all the way up to the top because he liked how he could see basically the whole island from the Lookout. When he reached the top today, he was panting, but the breeze that rushed through the gathered trees up there was refreshing enough. The adolescent sat at the edge of the cliff for some time before he heard the echoing chuffs behind him. Looking over his shoulder, he considered going towards them.

The next breeze that blew towards him through the trees was indeed laced with something delicious, and that was pretty much the only nudge he needed to leave the cliff's edge and stalk through the trees behind him. Nevermind the fact that there were edges on all sides of them - Hyperion was driven by his stomach alone.

He answered back with a singular chuff, though was silent after that as he stalked through what underbrush he found to hide under. He soon joined the small party as they waited for a few more to begin the hunt.

She had been relaxing under the trees after a long day of skulking around, avoiding her duties and avoiding those who settled in the Mire (her family, mostly). She had found it rather breezy and relaxing at the top of the Peak, and that was where she spent most of her days as she contemplated where she should send herself next.

She was deeply disappointed that Caladan had chosen the side of her enemies, recruiting and promoting one to its leadership. She thought Keligan had more of a backbone, and the fact that the enemy had also shacked up with his wife? She could see now that she thought wrong of him.

She heard the summoning chuffs of some lion nearby, and as the wind blew through the trees again, she also smelled the musk of some unfortunate prey animal that had climbed up the mountain only to be cornered by a group of hungry lions. On the contrary, it'd probably be an easy hunt that required minimal effort from her... so she rose and joined them.

On the way there, she had passed by a strong-smelling plant and made sure to rub into it, roll on it, and collect its scent on her coat so that a sand-smelling lion didn't blow their cover completely.

Exercising here is not the best decision he's made.

Large, gnarled roots and foliage trail their branches like fingers across his white pelt as he goes. There's some small cuts and blemishes lacerating his skin, most of which he hasn't noticed yet, but is sure to feel later.

Launching himself off powerful hind legs, he clears a twisted branch in his way before noticing a large assembly of lions. Viggo starts towards the crowd in an easy and cumbersome saunter, still breathless. One girl around his age proposes a hunting tactic while another shoots her down.

The bickering warrants a small scoff from him, but he's not here to socialize. Claws unsheathe and patiently drag across a proximate tree, his attention trained on the brown man who brought them all here.

It's difficult to describe the sensation that looking down from this height can give a lion(ess). It's dizzying. Intoxicating. There exists a power in looking down at the world like it was nothing more than the unfolded pages of a storybook, and recognizing the life that traipsed about below as the diminutive insects they truly were.

And there exists an inescapable bitterness in knowing that she would merely be one of them, once her paws returned to solid ground.

And so she roughly brushes such thoughts away from her mind as she continues her ascent up to the mountain's peak, pausing in her exploration only when she heard a chuff ring out across the thin air. A hunt? How lucky.

There also exists a power in being able to take something's life away.

Surely @Valaine would agree, she thinks, quickly spotting the elegant form of her sister amongst the gathering group. Viveka struts over to her side, dark nose wrinkling in vague disgust when she caught wind of Valaine's new 'perfume.' "It's goink to take forever to vash zat off." She hisses out with a derisive huff, notably choosing not to participate in the same practice.

Why bother with stealth here, when a good spook might fulfill the hunters' task for them by way of a steep fall and a broken neck?

A beast like him seems ill-fitted for a place such as this, steep cliffs and rough trails presenting a deadly trial to all but the most agile of beasts. Yet as in all things, what Mircea lacks in agility, he makes up for in brute force and (perhaps more importantly) sheer force of will.

He stubbornly pushes his way up the steep paths even as his muscles strain with the effort, the sound of his extended talons scraping against stone singing out through the air as he climbs higher and higher, until the air grows chilled and the land below becomes a patchwork vista of greens and browns and blues stretching out all the way to the most distant horizons. An impressive sight to a beast that is used to living within the embrace of the earth.

But he is not left to contemplate the open air in silence for long. The nearby chuffs recenters his focus, driving him ever onwards and upwards until he could see the gathering felines. Hunting up here seems like a riskier gamble than most, he thinks.

But maybe it wouldn't be wrong to say that Mircea was in need of a thrill.

It wasn't everyday that Arkyn was around whenever a call for a hunt sounded. He had been visiting his father at the peaks, filling him in on what had happened recently, before taking off to sharpen some of his skills. He took toward the grotto at first, rubbing up against the trees and bushes that littered the rocky terrain to try to conceal most of his scent. One never had too much training on how to better disguise themselves, and the beast would take any opportunity he had to do just that. As he moves, Arkyn smudges his paw prints by pivoting his paws with each step, making them look nothing more than if the wind had kicked up some dirt.

It was while he were practicing that the call comes from the lookout, and with a soft grunt would the Viking decide to heed the call. Colossal form moves with purpose, and soon enough he comes to a gathering of lions, noticing one in particular, one that he had dominated in the Summit. His lips curl into a devious grin as he prowls forward body crouching a bit as he sniffed the air.
