The ashen lioness could not remember a time when she had been this far east to Ilere's Freeze. It was cold and bitter, the wind harsh on the untrained skin and the snow biting at soft paws. Maia was not used to the grating conditions, but there was something about the cold air filling her lungs that was exhilarating. It was evident that there had been some heavy and strong blizzards that had traumatized the land, but Maia was thankful these had subsided.
Her small frame waded through the thick blanket of snow that had settled. It was hard work, but she was determined enough to continue, especially when her eyes fell on the distant figure of @Morrigan. Maia vaguely recognizes the dark figure, and makes her way forward to sit beside the woman, announcing her presence with a few chuffs prior.

Hello,She comments, looking to the woman and then out to the icy plains that seemed eerily quiet.

Maia quietly takes a seat and happily wraps her tail neatly around her grey paws. Ablaze eyes look to @Morrigan as she speaks, and Maia initially nods.

Things seem calmer, for sure. I've just recently celebrated my children's first birthday. She comments with a gentle smile, a feeling of pride beginning to flourish in her chest.
It's good to finally meet you, Morrigan. I believe our paths have crossed in the past. I'm Maia, Maia Tolkien-Casales.She remarks, before looking out to the icy plains in that lay in front of them.
Have you been impacted much by the weather we've been experiencing over these last few months?Maia asks, then, as a gust of wind picks up and sweeps some snow up off the ground and travels some distance before settling again.

There was no doubt in Maia's mind that the wind was much harsher out here in the east than it was inland. She was used to living underground, where the wind was still and the light scarce. It was exhilarating, really, having the opportunity to really feel the brash wind against her fur. Eyes turn back to @Morrigan as she speaks about her grandchildren, and there is a warm smile on the Tolkien's features despite the harsh weather that surrounded them.
Conversation turned back to the weather and Maia nodded.

That is such great news, congratulations. I cannot imagine what it is like to be a Grandmother - I never thought I'd be a mother myself. She remarks with a flick of her ear.
Conversation turned back to the weather and Maia nodded.
Pretty much the same over in the Hollows, just keeping the children safe and away from the crevices that have formed. I did have a really successful hunt the other week though, it looks as though herds are returning which could signal the end of what seems to be the worst we've seen yet.

Maia smiled at @Morrigan's success.
She shrugged.
She nodded.

Perhaps we should hold a gathering, an event as such, between Obsidian and Vermeda. It would be good for the children - and grandchildren - to interact and meet each other. Especially now things are beginning to settle.Maia remarks with a twitch of her ear.
She shrugged.
It depends on what you're used to, I suppose. Obsidian has always had loose crooks and crannies, so the crevices aren't too worrisome. It's more when the earth shakes happen, when the rocks and slate fall.Maia comments, thankful that she had managed to remain safe so far. The topic turns to the recent increase in challenges, and she shakes her head.
You're right. It all seems to be from the same prides too, which makes me wonder what sort of rulers are heading them if so many are challenging. She was, however, thankful that Roan had remained the High Sovereign of Obsidian.
Though truth be told, I do miss the Mire. Perhaps I'll challenge Alaric for his crown once all this... weather shenanigans calms down.Up until now, Maia had kept her cards quite close to her chest, but perhaps reveals her ambitions to Morrigan would do more good than harm.
She nodded.
Yes, though I fear the last of the weather is to come. I'm quite the hunter, but I worry the herds will continue to migrate. Hopefully they will settle, soon, though.Maia falls silent then, and too looks out to the expanse of snow in front of them.

Maia was surprised to learn that Obsidian was @Morrigan's first home - but at the information, the Tolkien smiled.
Maia nodded.

I can't say I have ever met Magnus personally, but I have heard of him. Most of my time within Amaryllis has been within the Mire or Obsidian. But I did briefly live in Andal, where Jafar and I met.She recalled, casting her mind back to the days when things were much less complicated. Part of her wondered what had made Jafar so attracted to her when she had been such a mess herself. But alas: she had found comfort and security in her now husband, and she could not ask for anything more.
I'll speak with Roan and Aquila, see if we can organize something.Maia confirms with a curt nod, and her mind began to wonder as to what they could do. Perhaps a nice meal with some party games. But her mind was brought back to the present with Morrigan's words of support.
Thank you. I was there, at the challenge that seemed to turn into turmoil. She was certainly brave to go for such a feat, and perhaps one day her confidence will be rewarded. You certainly have a future Queen in your daughter.Maia praises before continuing.
I do worry about the consequences, though. I can't shake off the feeling that the Mire is my home, even though it's muddy and humid and not the most welcoming. It was where Jafar and I married, where the children were born... It seems only right to be ruling there. These thoughts she had not spoken to Jafar, for worry what he might think. But she knew that her husband would support her endeavours: through thick, and thin, right?
Maia nodded.
You're right. Amaryllis seems to be throwing it all at us, but we seem to come together through it all. I do wonder what else is in store for us though, and what other weather phenomenons will come.
