SOME OLD GHOST TOWN

the dik-dik had been easy prey, but also difficult. it was agile and quick, showing Benedict that even though they took it down... there was still so much to learn. at least for himself. he moves among the sands, remarking that autumn was upon the land at last. outside the Dunes, everything was lowering. preparing for snow and ice, while the Oasis enjoyed pleasant heat.

he chuffs a few times to summon the pride. not one to hunt alone, he only hopes for a few to come aid him. all their hunts had been successful. it was time to keep up that momentum. pacing, Benedict stared straight down as he moved in an almost impatient circle. only when someone came did he look up, gazing at them with calm green eyes. "ready t' hunt?" he asks if they inquired as to why they were here.

he does spot footprints in the sand, but that is ignored in favor of the company. the weather is also quite fair, and he is thankful for such things.

@Benedict was far more eager and optimistic about this than Ebrahim was. The Noble was still sullen after his most recent predicament and the ensuing encounter with both of his cousins. Still, he could not allow it to stop him from showing his face. This was his pride too, after all; he had a duty to it. Ready as I will ever be, the Azar male huffed, curling a lip faintly and sighing as he approached, slowing as he drew up alongside the golden-pelted hunter. They would be in good paws with Benedict at the helm; he could only hope that they would be successful again today, especially with more and more mouths to feed.

She really didn't want to do this... like... at all. But, she knew she needed to be seen making an effort. So, she came. She gave Benedict a curt nod, and Eb a smirk and a wink. He was no doubt still pouting, and she didn't feel the least bit sorry for him. Sure, it could be said that she was making the same mistakes he had... but she was doing better at keeping it to herself. She was not about to pop out cubs with Ari anytime soon, that was for sure. Stretching lazily before sitting down, she made it pretty clear that she was here against her will. "If I must be... then I am."

Iofiel was new to the Oasis but he wasn't new to desert living. He knew it took every individual helping out in order to survive. And while he had never been a social butterfly he knew enough to do his duty. Besides, one really didn't need to talk to participate in a hunt. Actually no talking was preferred so as not to scare off prey.

At least he had caught the mention on a hunt as he approached the summons. It didn't seem that everyone was enthused about taking part though. It made him wonder how long they had lived in a desert. The large male said nothing, of course, and his expression remained blank. He also wasn't the sort to emote much either.

The pale colored lion kept his silence and his distance, remaining to the back of the currently small gathering. His gaze flicked quickly over his pride mates before dropping towards the ground and pinned itself there. Sand didn't make for good tracking so he wasn't expecting to find anything. Instead it was a gesture of respect, something deeply ingrained within him.

when benedict calls, ashelia does not hesitate to answer it. he is always just one step ahead of her, always attentive - she trusted him to keep an eye on their caches, and so far, she'd certainly not been unhappy with his performance. she is not the first to arrive - though she is certainly the most enthusiastic of them. @Iofiel is a welcome sight, and so are her family members - though both @Mirza and @Ebrahim could stand to cheer up. a bit of hard work wasn't going to kill them. chuffing quietly she settles easily into the group, offering them a small smile before her attention shifts to benedict. sunlight eyes squint at the surrounding sands - trying to scent what @Benedict had. there is nothing there that she sees, but she's certainly not as skilled of a hunter as he is. settling easily into readiness, she waits - keeping an eye on the golden hunter, waiting for him to give the signal.

A step behind the rest, but only a moment behind his charge, Ahriman arrives. Already there are many, a golden marked male, Ebrahim, another strange man, Ashelia, and of course @Mirza. Of whom he approached and stood beside, even though they would likely have to part for the hunt. The men weren't the agile ones who herded the prey, well maybe except for the lead hunter. Certainly not him though; he was a tank not a glass cannon. "At your service" he states simply. Watching @Benedict with interest while he got things started.

he knows he's doing the bulk of the community hunting, and does not mind. the group aspect would build strong bonds, and if he hunted alone it was less appealing sure but everyone could catch their own food that way. if they didn't want to be here, they didn't have to be here. he saw it as a team building exercise. they all looked to him expectantly. "@Ebrahim and @Ahriman" he turns to the noble and lead fighter with a friendly smile "wit' me, please. "

they were going to track something down and sandwich it between two parties. the swifter lions would chase, and the sturdier ones would kill. "@Mirza and @Ashelia, if ye can follow these footprints" he gestures to the tracks "we'll be close behind. please take @Iofiel wit' ye" he gives a nod to the newcomer among them. he quickly explains the plan to them, his voice lowering as he addressed all of them "my group will circle around while ye chase the prey in our direction. with luck, we'll trap 'em between us."

he really hoped this worked. giving an encouraging nod to them all, he waits for the plan to begin.

More advanced on their position, which was just as well. @Mirza, and her lackey @Ahriman; his cousin's smirk and wink is pointedly ignored. At least @Ashelia was being far more composed - she was the one who had any justification in taking offense to what had happened, and yet she was behaving perfectly gracefully. That's why she was the leader of their family. @Iofiel was a new face, but clearly part of the pride. They were doing rather well on the recruitment front, weren't they? @Benedict gives his direction, and the Noble is content enough to follow along with the plan. As instructed, he would keep low to the ground and begin to trail through the long grass, following along after the other two males; he was happy to take the rear.

The large male had to wonder why he was being sent off with the females. Was it simply because he was an unknown and has yet to formally meet the lion whom had called this hunt. Or perhaps he was judged as unfit. Perhaps it was thought he wouldn't amount to much.

There wasn't much use in questioning it. Iofiel would do his part, he would be an active and helpful member of the pride. The pale lion did his part in the hunt. A meal was secured. And with it Iofiel's lips moved in silent prayer to give thanks to the pair of oryx that had given their lives to help them sustain their own.

With the prayer spoken Iofiel made his silent departure, allowing the rest to enjoy the spoils of the hunt and taking none for himself.
