Summer
Summer is in full swing now, with clear skies, warm nights, and ample sunshine! As such, the deserts begin to grow dry, the shores remain a blissful escape, the north is spared with cooling winds, and humidity continues to rise in the jungle. Rain and storms are long forgotten troubles by now, which is both a virtue and a vice during the heat of the season.

Essential Palm Oil

Unsettled in the land he'd constructed a small bag out of a hollowed gourd he'd found somewhere, strung with sinewy entrails of carrion found in the woods. It would work for the time being, though of course the rugged strap would deteriorate into nothing eventually. Near the falls he searched for oil palms, which were not hard to find given their appearance as miniature palm trees. This time of year left them fruit bearing, giving him plenty to collect. Ink toed paws dug for the roots after leaves and fruits had been severed from his quarry, though he was not a fan of the dark loam that covered his paws and speckled his sunset locks. Lucky for him the falls lay not far off for a shower once he'd collected as much of the herbs as he could carry. Healing properties of oil palms were valuable to the Black family.

emptyHe wanders, exploring the land now called home, coming to know it better. To understand it. He’d watched battles fought from a distance and liked how chaotic it could be. Nothing seemed to last and that suits Ryuu just fine. The scent of water draws him, but the scent of another catches his attention - short however as that span may be - and the auburn lion strolls along the bank until he finds the stranger, strange colours lined in vibrant black. Lions here were funny looking, but not attractive, really.
Ryuu watches silently for just a moment, trying to figure out what the stranger is doing, before he gives up and clears his throat. "What cha doin’?" He looks… sticky. Ryuu’s black lips pull back in a grimace. That stuff could be immortality and he wouldn't want to gather it. Not if it meant getting that shit on him. No thanks.

Engrossed in the task at hand, the oil palms weren't the easiest to harvest nor the cleanliest to harvest. Each plant left debris and a sticky substance behind on paws and around his ink lips, even dribbled into the lavender chin strap. Frustrated to be covered in herbs it was the nature of his job. Thankful that the falls were a short walk away for a proper cleansing once he'd collected enough specimens, he would be content to find himself wholly clean again. Long locks flowed in front him with a portion that tended to cover the peach and silver tinged eye. Concentrated as he was, he hadn't noticed the approach of another lion until they spoke, giving him a slight spook as ink ears folded into the length of hair, multicolored eyes stealing away from his task to look upon the earthy face of another young male.

I'm collecting herbs.Instructional response came in a mellow tone as his paws shifted to face the stranger properly.
These plants hold several properties for treating ailments that I find rather useful.Eloquent, his slit pupils focused on the youth for but a moment, flitting away to observe the oil palms as he spoke. His pointed ears and strange oil slick tendrils that climbed his body were vastly different from the plain earthen brown of the other youth with rounded ears. The Black family genes held great potential yet many oddities.
Oil palms can keep infections at bay and also lessen pain. Two things very valuable to someone with an injury. It was a crash course to the herb, since he wasn't actually utilizing the plant at the moment. He saw no harm in spreading awareness to others, for the information was widely used among medics and gave nothing of importance away.
