She had been trying her hardest to not let her worries get the better of her. Everything had been insane lately, and she was still recovering from the whiplash of it all. Saga's death matches, Alizabeth becoming Sovereign of the Lagoon, Khal and Arden's disappearances, Myrkvi's attack... When would it all end? When could they be given peace for once? Cassandra knew Saga was ecstatic about her newest litter, and if she could piece things together - those 'demigod' cubs were likely gifted by Maua. But she'd never say that out loud to the High Sovereign and her future aunt-in-law. She was already in a bit of a bad spot with her attitude towards Alizabeth at the meeting. No need to make that any worse.

The nearly grown girl had left the den at the crack of dawn before @Myrkvi was even awake. She knew he'd likely want to come with her - even if she was only going to the cache - and she wanted him to rest as much as possible. So it was why the fluffy girl quietly slipped back into their shared den with a pair of fish clasped in her jaws. One was for herself, and the other was for Kvi if he was hungry. Setting the fish down on the ground, Cassandra gently nuzzled her head against his neck. ""Did you sleep well amica mea*?"" She asked as she settled back down next to him. Occasionally lately she found herself slipping into short phrases of Latin - something she didn't do much before. Talisa had taught them Latin when they were very little, but she hadn't used it much.

But it just sounded good to speak in, and it meant she could say something another might not understand - which could be quite handy. Cassandra was aware that Kvi probably didn't know what she was saying when she slipped into Latin, so maybe if he wanted to she could teach him the language. Then they could communicate privately if they desired to - especially about sensitive matters

Myrkvi was comfortable in the early hours. The injuries he sustained were diligently cared for by his sister and he hardly had to lift a toe with @Cassandra minding any of his needs if she could. It was weird to be so cared for when he felt the need to place himself on the line for others. He couldn’t quite shake the warrior spirit. Though it was the gentle touch to his maned neck that woke him. The salty scent of fish was nearby. Always with you here. His voice mumbled with sleep before his eyes ever opened. His front limbs stretched outward even with him laid on this left side as his jaws were parted in a wide yawn. The dark Sigrun shifted afterwards to a more propped up position. That sounds affectionate, what’s it mean? He questioned while blinking the rest of his sleep from his obsidian eyes. Thank you for breakfast. He pulled the fish closer to take a bite while his ears were primed to absorb the answer.

Ever since he had been attacked, Cassandra practically had to force the dark Sigrun to take it easy and allow himself to heal fully before he hurt himself more. She knew it had to be hard for him, what with the way he was born and raised to be a warrior like his father. Normally, the Valour was a soft and kind soul for the most part. But when @Myrkvi insisted on trying to do more than he was capable of without reopening the wounds, she would do a complete 180 in her attitude. She turned very stubborn and forceful, especially about him staying in the den if she needed to go somewhere or if he was hungry for something.

Her gentle touch seemed to have woken him, and a gentle rumble escaped her as she aimed to gently press her head against his. It seemed her use of the foreign phrase had caught his attention. ""It means 'my love' in Latin. Talisa taught my siblings and I it when we were younger. I don't really use it too often though."" Cassandra said, pulling her own fish closer to take a bite after the explanation. If he wanted to learn, she could teach him it as well.

Myrkvi casually ate the meal brought to him. He had begrudgingly allowed @Cassandra to boss him after several attempts to patrol or whatnot were thwarted by her. He eventually opted to lay in the sun and be good most of the time. A soft rumble escaped his chest as she head booped him. That’s nice, I like it. His darkened maw would lift into a smile. Ástin mín is the same, but in my tongue. He would offer. You have probably heard the language among my family members. We use it and the common tongue together plenty. Life right now was definitely the opposite of what they were used to. Normally, Kvi was the one who took a more active role in the pride, patrolling the borders and the like. But she had insisted he take a step back and allow himself time to heal. ""I've definitely heard members of your family speaking in that language before - kinda hard to miss someone seemingly cursing in it."" Cassandra said with a chuckle. She definitely had heard what seemed to be a curse word or two spoken in a foreign language for sure.

""I wouldn't mind teaching you some basics to begin with, if you wanted to learn Latin."" The fluffy girl said, gently touching her nose to his cheek. She'd not gotten the chance to teach him anything interesting yet - just some stuff about Maua and what she was taught as a young girl in that aspect. ""Also - we didn't get to celebrate your birthday. I was getting some stuff together to celebrate it with you, and then you appeared injured. Maybe learning Latin can be part of your birthday gift."" The nearly grown girl said with a smile, continuing to eat her own fish as well. Looking towards @Myrkvi, she snuggled closer to the dark lion, enjoying getting to spend some time when it was quiet and peaceful with him.

Myrkvi would snort in amusement at the comment about curses. You’d be right. He’d add on with a slight smirk. His ears flickered in interest as @Cassandra spoke about his birthday. I should teach you our tongue. It seems only right with you here with us. He would counter offer. Language for language? He smiled then as his expression softened. He looked forward to seeing his siblings and himself rise with their respective partners as the newest adult members of their clan. There was nothing but potential ahead of them regardless of the threat of war with the Rike’s arrival.

His add-on about her being right in presuming that his family seemed to be cursing in their native language a lot. It definitely seemed like something that the Sigrun's would do for sure. Not that she could really tell what they would saying when they spoke in the language, but the point was made regardless in her opinion. Flicking an ear as @Myrkvi spoke of teaching her their language, Cassandra smiled softly. It definitely seemed like a good idea. Maybe she could actually understand what they were saying when they spoke. Would be nice for sure. ""I'd like that."" Cassandra said, flicking her tail as she spoke.

What to teach him first out of Latin? They'd obviously have to have more than one lesson - couldn't teach a language in one setting obviously. A dark ear flicked back as she sat in thought for a few moments, debating what to teach him first. ""Ok - To start, lemme teach you how to say 'hello' and 'goodbye'. Always best to start with the basics. So to say hello, you say 'salve'. And to say goodbye, you say 'vale'."" Cassandra would say, making sure to emphasize how to say the two words in Latin. It could be difficult to learn sometimes, so she wasn't sure how Kvi would handle the language. It was definitely more elegant than the language the Sigrun spoke.

Salve. He repeated slowly as she said it. The vowels didn’t seem too much different from what he already used. That was helpful. Vale. Once more he repeated them mindfully. He committed their sound to his memory, though he would better remember in practice. Hello would be Halló. He offered with the same careful annunciation for her as she offered to him. You can use Bæ for a casual bye or Bless for something more formal like farewell. There were plenty of goodbye phrases to use, really. It would take awhile to explain all the nuances, but they had plenty of time.

Thankfully some of the simple phrases of Latin were easier to pronounce, especially for someone who was just only learning the language for the first time. It seemed he wasn’t having too much trouble with the first few phrases she offered him, which were hello and goodbye. Her tail flicked lazily behind her as she listened to him speak and work out the pronunciation of each word. He would then offer the phrases for the same words in the language that the Sigrun spoke, and she would think for a moment, mulling the phrases over in her mind before repeating them herself.

"“Halló..”" Cassandra repeated, the word feeling foreign on her tongue as she used the new word. "“Bæ and Bless..”" It was weird to be speaking language she’d heard the Sigrun use so freely and easily. "“Halló almost feels like I’m just saying ‘Hello’.”" Cassandra said with a chuckle. "“Why is there a different way to say bye for casual and for formal?”" She asked curiously, wondering if he knew why there was a difference.

She would then offer a few more phrases in Latin for Kvi to try out "“Love is amor and family is familia.”" Her front paws would stretch out as she shifted her position to be more comfortable to continue their lesson in languages.

It’s merely situation dependent. He smiled as he answered. Like saying bye to your friend is perhaps different than saying bye to a ranked member you don’t have much of a relationship or familiarity with. That was about the only way to explain it. The Latin words she shared felt familiar to his ears as a opposed to not. Especially when things like family translated so easily. Love would be ást while family is fjölskyldu. More difficult words as opposed to the simplicity of Latin it seemed, but he was entertained and happy to absorb the information from @Cassandra.
