None of them had been truly expecting any of this, let alone Brigid. She wasn't afraid of a little storm, after all anyone from her family would be foolish to be afraid of water. The only being she cowered before was Vellen and even then, she barely did it with her tail tucked between her legs. However Brigid couldn't help but sense that something was different about this storm. The wind was ferocious, the rain a torrential downpour. Brigid couldn't see anyways so no great loss there but either way the storm made traversing through the Cove a bit more difficult than usual. Brigid hadn't expected an easy trip but regardless she was barely making it by the skin of her teeth when the rocks began to give way. The large woman moved as quickly as she could manage, paws trying to grab hold of the muck beneath her. She used the vibrations of the ground beneath her to the best of her abilities as she lurched forwards. Suddenly though the sound of cracking nearest to her left caused her to jump to her right to avoid a falling tree. The tree came to a crashing thud, debri ricocheting from it all the while. Initially Brigid didn't feel anything, but then the sudden realization that she was bleeding hit her before the pain itself. She let in a sharp inhale, your wounded, your left ribcage. She thought to herself as she tried to grab as much air into her lungs as she could. The moment she faltered however the worse it became. More debris was flung forwards, boulders rolling and Brigid managed to stumble into the path of one nearest to her. She was slammed from behind, her legs crumbling beneath her as a ferocious roar was bellowed from her parted lips. She felt the cold hard ground beneath her before she tasted the mud in her mouth. The pain was white hot and furious as it moved through her. She laid still for a moment, feeling the rain pelt against her before she began to struggle as she tried to claw at the earth to pull her body forwards. Her left hind leg was trapped beneath something, rocks if she was willing to bet anything. "Aghhhh fucker!" She would hiss as she tried to wrench her fractured limb from beneath the debris. Pain. It flashed through her, clouding her judgment before she would pause, laying back against the earth once more. |

Summer
Summer is in full swing now, with clear skies, warm nights, and ample sunshine! As such, the deserts begin to grow dry, the shores remain a blissful escape, the north is spared with cooling winds, and humidity continues to rise in the jungle. Rain and storms are long forgotten troubles by now, which is both a virtue and a vice during the heat of the season.

Calhoun had seen it from the shoreline. He'd seen the trees crumble and the earth give way, and heard the distant echoes of its panicked inhabitants ring out across the beach. He is not necessarily the most chivalrous of creatures; in fact, his interest is more out of intrigue and what might be leftover to pilfer than it is on helping anyone. He is a pirate, after all.
And so he doesn't move with any sort of great haste or panic, meandering along the ocean's edge with his pale gaze taking in the crumbling scene ahead. By the time he reaches the prideland, it has mostly stilled, and it's in... shambles, to say the least. Calhoun picks his way carefully through fallen trees and boulders, hardly expecting anyone else to still be here. The smart ones would have fled.
But then he hears a familiar voice; not one he knows particularly well, but he does know it. @Brigid's shriek is enough to snap his muzzle up and twist the Galloway's ears forward, and he moves with more purpose then, searching for the origin of the cry within the unfamiliar lands. This pride might have been difficult to navigate without being in ruins, but it's absolute chaos now, and he half doesn't expect to find her, suspecting she might be lost somewhere beneath the debris.
And then he does.
There she lays, pinned beneath a pile of fallen rubble in quite a predicament she is unlikely to get out of herself. "Brigid," he rumbles as he nears, more for her benefit than his, so that she can identify his approach. Calhoun wastes little time in moving to free her, pulling one rock at a time from the pile so as not to cause a domino effect and make the situation worse than it already is.

She lies motionless, mostly because it hurts like fuck to move her leg and her ribs are pinching every bit of air that she manages to have in her lungs. It's only when a voice reaches her ears that she glances, mistakenly expecting to maybe see someone but alas her sight was still fucked. The voice was familiar though, it was @Calhoun. She was shocked really that the man had come to help her, part of her had hoped that Hakon would find her, but she was as good as dead to him apparently. "Calhoun what are you doing all the way out here? Shouldn't you be .. stealing things or something?" It was a really bad joke about being a pirate but she was trying to bring some sort of light to the very shitty situation she found herself in. "Thanks for helping but.. I would almost rather be dead right about now." She admits and it was true, death probably would have been a hell of a lot better then this. |

A low snort rumbles from the captain, spelling his amusement at her commentary. She has him pegged pretty well, to be honest, and he can't help but be entertained by her perceptive nature. "I could see t'e trees fall from camp," he explains, figuring it's probably a good thing to keep her talking and engaged as much as he can whilst he methodically pulls free one stone after another. "Aye, I was comin' t'e see if there was anythin' worth takin'," he admits with a half shrug of his shoulders. "Ye got in my way," Calhoun quips with a little chuckle, as though @Brigid is just an inconvenience to his raiding plans.
Her sentiment about wishing for death is a familiar thing for him -- how is it that nearly everything that comes out of her mouth is so damn relatable? Kindred souls, maybe, but he has no interest in humoring her desires today. "Ye cen wish it all ye like, lass, but I ain't about to let ye die on my watch," he informs her, doing his best to move the rubble with care; he has no doubt that the trapped leg beneath is in a mangled sort of state, and his intention isn't to do more damage than has already been done. "Didn't take ye fer a quitter, Brigid," the Galloway retorts, trying to goad the fire that he knows she has -- if only for her own benefit, really. It's best if she stays alert and engaged in this moment, and if that means getting under her skin, then that's what he's going to do.

He didn't take her as a quitter. Well, he would certainly be surprised then. Brigid was fed up with all of the bullshit she had had coming her way; it seemed to be never ending, perhaps this was the real punishment from Vellen. She wasn't even sure why @Calhoun was here anyways; of course, the stealing things made sense but the fact that he had been the one to help get her out of this mess, well that just made her feel like she owed him even more considering the circumstances. "You don't understand Calhoun, all of this.. it's like one huge punishment. My husband left me, I can't fucking see so it's not like I could have seen his face to get the closure I needed. And on top of that I get pummeled by mother nature." At first it didn't seem funny, but then Brigid couldn't help but begin to chuckle. Before she knew it she was full-blown giggling, maybe she was just delirious from the pain but either way the situation was hysterical. "I'll tell you what, if I end up surviving this shit show I'd love for you to take me to this private island of yours.." She muses as she begins to feel the rubble slowly being eased off of her body. For one guy he sure was strong as hell, she'd give him that. |
