There are a few of the smaller things to note that have been changed over the last month, or that are changing as of this update:
- You can now find two new mutations in the shop and Guidebook: slitted pupils and coloboma! Both of these new additions cost 50 petals.
- The Random Design Generator Tracker is now public, and can be found here for ease of access and tracking.
- PVP Increase on Pride Territory: Previously, we had chosen to exempt pride challenge threads from our rule on increasing PVP for trespassing on pride territory. As of this announcement, trespassing on pride territory at any point, pride challenge or otherwise, will result in your character's PVP increasing by one level. (i.e. if you are on Yellow PVP and trespass in Firnen Rainforest, you will be treated as though you are on Green PVP)
- Our Site Management information has been placed on the main page of the Guidebook page for easier access.
- We currently have an ongoing Site Survey, with submissions closing on December 12th. If you haven't already, please give us your input!
It's the most wonderful time of the year! And, because of that, we naturally have some things planned for the community for the month of December.
Advent Calendar: Our annual advent calendar will be live for the 12 days of Christmas, from December 12th until December 24th, and will include some great prizes to celebrate the festive season! Sign-ups will open on December 10th, so stayed tuned!
Discord Petals: For the entire month of December, you will be able to earn petals just by talking in our Discord server! We had this feature set up last year before the site opened, and found that it was an easy way to help keep things moving, while also giving everyone a little something extra!
- Every message you send is worth 1 Discord point. Points can be redeemed in Petal Updates on or after January 1st for a ratio of 5:1 (i.e. 5 points will be worth 1 petal).
- We will be providing more info on how to check your balance and applicable commands via the server.
- Please remember to avoid unnecessarily spamming just to generate points, and also remember to try and include everyone in your conversations so that we can all get rich!
As of this announcement, Amaryllis will officially be moving to an age minimum of 18 years old. We understand that this is a difficult decision, but hope that you will all understand.
All members will now need to have their birth month and year on their OOC accounts. This can be hidden from public view (and thereby only viewable by Staff), but will be required moving forwards.
Current active members (with at least 1 active IC account/member status) that are between the ages of 16 and 18 will be grandfathered in, and will be permitted to continue roleplaying on Amaryllis.
Any new members (those who do not have any active IC accounts/member status) who do not meet this age minimum will not be permitted to join Amaryllis, and will be invited to return once they turn 18. Anyone found to be lying about their age to get around this change in order to join Amaryllis will be removed immediately, without exceptions.
In order to provide consistency across the melanistic and albinism mutations, we have introduced a melanistic pelt swatch, that is both viewable in the Guidebook and can be selected within character profiles. Like the albino pelt swatch, this is categorized under Tier 3.
If you currently have a melanistic character, please post in General Maintenance to have your pelt selection swapped from 'Black' to 'Melanistic'. Thank you in advance!
The pelt and mutations charts in the Guidebook have also received a facelift! Check the new formatting out on the Character Details page!
To make the current system more fair across our community, we are implementing two changes to how we handle cubs that have been born on-site.
Re-Adoption in Lieu of Cub Death: Site rules dictate that any cub that falls inactive before reaching 6 months of age is considered dead, and are moved to the Ghost usergroup. In light of giving parents a fair chance at re-adopting their cub before this happens, we are introducing a 2 week buffer for them to try and find a new player for their cub.
- This 2 week period begins once the cub falls inactive (no posts within 1 OOC month).
- The player who allowed the cub to fall inactive can not re-apply them within these two weeks. A new player needs to be found.
- The cub must be re-adopted and re-auditioned within this 2 week timeframe in order to be saved from dying.
- Staff do not monitor this; it is the responsibility of the parents/players to find a new home for their cub before they are turned into a Ghost.
Moving forward, any claim or theft matches that happen due to a pride challenge or uprising can only take place after the new leader has exited the challenge/uprising thread, or after three days has passed since their last reply to the thread.
This is to ensure the new leader has time to settle and decide what they would like to do before getting bogged down with various fights. When in doubt, we encourage you to reach out to the pride leader and communicate your thoughts or ask about their plans before taking direct action!
In case you did not already know, we have three distinct teams on Amaryllis that are made out of community members, and monitored and assisted by Staff:
- The Welcoming Committee, who helps welcome new members into our community and guides them through the first steps of getting settled in;
- The Designer Team, who helps members determine the cost and marking breakdown of their designs to make them ready to be auditioned; and
- The Fight Club, who weigh in on disputes or concerns that occur within IC fights, in order to enforce the Guidebook and promote transparent, fair judging.
These teams have become an important and valued backbone of our community, and as a way to say thank you, members of these teams will now be awarded a monthly payment!
- All active members of these teams will be able to claim 30 petals per month.
- Active is defined as frequently engaging in their team duties, partaking in conversations, helping members, and fulfilling their role. Staff reserve the right to remove or freeze payment for team members that are not active in any given month.
We have noticed that not many people know about the site’s Fight Club, or how to access it and ask for help. This team is not monitoring every fight on site — rather, they depend on having concerns brought to their attention by fight participants.
- We will be adding a section to the Guidebook about the Fight Club in January to help ensure that this is more common knowledge and easily accessible.
When to contact the Fight Club: If you have concerns about a fight that you are in due to your opponent potentially power-playing, not taking proper damage, not meeting the minimum word count, or other reasons that are listed on the Fights Page, you should reach out to the Fight Club for an official ruling.
How to contact the Fight Club: In Discord, you can now open a Fight Club ticket using the ticket tool channel. Copy in the form below with the correct information (this will also be available in the channel.
- Admins, Sr.Staff, and Fight Club members will be added automatically to the ticket, and an Admin will also add the other person involved in the fight so that they are aware of the issue and able to give their side/input.
- The Fight Club will then look over the fight and all of the information that was given, and discuss in a separate channel what the outcome will be (i.e. if any rules were broken). Both fight participants will then be notified of the decision.

Concerns: please express your concern in as much detail as possible here
If you need help with general questions about the fight system, please reach out directly to an Admin, Sr. Staff, or Fight Club members directly. The ticket avenue is only to be used for rulings that are needed on fights for potential rule-breaking.
Admins and Sr.Staff always have the final say in the Fight Club's rulings, but, in large, we allow allows the Fight Club to discuss and decide amongst themselves. Staff mainly act as an oversight to ensure that all rules are followed and applied fairly across the system.
As Amaryllis' community continues to grow and flourish, we would like to take a moment to make a quick note about community inclusion, particularly in the Discord sever. We would also like to preface this by saying that none of us are perfect and all get wrapped up in the heat of conversation every now and again, and that's okay! This message is only meant to be a gentle reminder on how members can help make our space more inclusive and welcoming, for everyone!
Conversations in the Discord server tend to move quickly and involve a lot of different members - and we love to see everyone getting along and having such a good time! To help keep the atmosphere thriving and healthy, here are a few things that each of us can do to help promote inclusivity and make everyone feel welcomed:
- If someone (anyone) says hi, try and say hi back! Even if you are in the middle of another conversation, acknowledging the other person is a great way to make sure that they do not feel overlooked or ignored.
- This philosophy goes both ways, as well -- if you have something interesting to add to the conversation or want to bring up a new topic, remember to acknowledge others that may already speaking prior to putting your own topic to the forefront. Who knows, maybe they'll have something equally as interesting to add!
- When plotting, try not to ignore other people's requests that may have been sitting or that were ask about before your own. Even if you can't give them what they are looking for, acknowledging what they said is always a good first step.
- Example: Bob is looking to spree with someone later that day. You don't have time to spree, but want to post about enticing some drama with your character. Before dropping your idea into the channel, try to acknowledge Bob's question the best that you can, and let them know why you may be unable to fill what they're looking for. Then, continue on with your own plotting request.
More generally, we want to say thank you to everyone for helping to foster this amazing, vibrant, and diverse community! We are so lucky to have all of you, and look forward to what the future holds.
