it did not take her long to realize that something was horribly and utterly wrong, the first sign being the wet and oversaturated mud beneath her feet, and the faint and scattered scents of the once-border. "hello?" she called out instinctively upon shaky tones, adrenaline rising, as her heart began to beat wildly within her chest. nymeria would then push herself further into the mire, the signs of a flood ringing out plainly across the landscape, for the whole world to see. to make matters worse, she did not see or smell anyone around, which included the shapes of her own family -- that, in and of itself, was enough to send her into a violent frenzy. "hello? is anyone here?" nymeria's voice was more urgent now as pale paws pushed against the muck-coated earth, for she was desperate to find some sort of life or explanation for what had happened here. all whilst praying that they were all safe and sound, wherever that might be.

ooc: hope you don't mind Kito popping in ;)
Slowly, but surely, Kito was starting to put together a big of a picture of her family in these lands. She had found her daughter after the flood and had learned that the swamp was called Ecrosia Mire from one of the natives. Talisa had also told her that a Hodari pride had lived here which was only further confirmed by Furia. Knowing all this now, though, only made the silver woman want to continue monitoring the Mire. It sounded as if many were missing, so what if they returned? What if Kito could help them be found by the rest of their family? It was much safer for the ghost to navigate the waterlogged terrain than it was for the living, after all.
It would appear that the Mire had yet another visitor today when the ashen lioness heard the sounds of someone calling out. The urgency in @Nymeria's voice would lead the silver woman to assume that at least knew lions had lived here previously. It might even be safe to say that she had some sort of relationship with the pride if the tone in her voice was any indication of her level of concern. Before Kito could find the queen, however, another voice called out in return with a name. Little did she know that the voice belonged to her own daughter-in-law. The maned woman would make her way closer to the pair as @Hanneth made her way towards the wheat woman. She would assume they must know each other, and so maybe they both knew the lions that had lived here last. "No one has lived here in a few days," Kito offered from a distance among the trees. If they looked hard enough, they might catch a glimmer of silver between the shrubbery, but the Hodari was not close enough to be in full view just yet. Still, she hoped her words offered some help to the women if they were trying to find anyone who had lived in the Mire.
the valour would aim to swallow the distance between the two of them, hoping to offer a warm and tender embrace to the other woman, should she allow it. "are you okay? what happened?" the words tumbled quickly, hastily, from between nymeria's lips, attempting to pull back after a few more moments to ensure that hanneth was not injured in any sort of way. to nymeria's surprise, however, another voice soon joined the fray, rising up from across the way, and prompting the instinctive swivel of the queen's crown. looking in the direction from which the voice had come, she could not immediately identify anyone in particular -- but surely, she wasn't going crazy (just yet). "oh -- hello," she tried first, squinting in the direction of the treeline as she kept herself pressed closely to hanneth. albeit the fact that she was not quite able to make out the shape, nymeria would crane her maw forwards still, looking to inquire further about what the other stranger may know. "do you know where anyone else is?"
The air shifted and the bronze lioness's head lifted quickly and searched for the being that had caused it. She could feel the tingle through her body but wasn't able to see who it was but she didn't stay silent. The ghost spoke and Hanneth looked in that general direction, trying to spot her. Thank you. This was my home before the waters came. I am here looking for my family and to see if there is anything left to take with us. To where she didn't know they were going but as Nym pressed into her she looked toward her for a moment. They had been circling each other for so long now, maybe it was time to come together? She didn't want to take away from the ghost so she remained focused on her for the moment.
To her delight, neither woman seemed put off or frightened by her words nor her translucent appearance. Perhaps they had experience with those of the afterlife. In any case, it was clear that the two knew each other at least, as then @Nymeria called a name back to the bronze woman. Hanneth? That was a name that the small child had spoken. Hm, maybe Kito was closer to her family than she realized.
The silver woman made her way towards the pair more briskly now, pretty much just walking through things in order to be of better view them. "Hello," the ghost would first return the greeting to the native before the bronze one went on to speak next. They both questioned the whereabouts of anyone else in the Mire to which Kito could only sadly shake her head. "Several lions have wandered through here lately, but none I have encountered so far have seemed to be the ones that had lived here." Unfortunate news, but it was all Kito really had to offer at the moment.
Now that she was closer to the pair, the maned woman took a better look at the two lionesses. The bronze one, had the other called her @Hanneth? A scar on her cheek and mismatched eyes.... Just as the boy described. "Did you say your name was Hanneth?" Well, she knew Hanneth hadn't actually said her name, but that had been what Nymeria had called out, right? Maybe Kito did have some helpful news after all.
thankfully, however, being familiar with the afterlife was an understatement, at least for nymeria. it took her a few moments more to realize that the voice of the other woman was, in fact, a ghost -- but she found some sort of twisted comfort upon realizing that it was not that of anyone she knew. ears swiveled instinctively in @Kito's direction as she spoke, providing some context to what had happened here, all-the-while keeping her body hugged close to that of hanneth. there seemed to be some sort of connection between the two women, however, and, in an attempt not to interrupt, the valour would remain quiet for a few moments more, eyes shifting idly between them both in a curious, hesitant sort of fashion.
