In the warmth of the day, it was not unusual to find the shaggy coated feline in the shade of the trees, away from the sunlight and close to the water. She was beginning to settle well in Vermeda - she enjoyed the lush greenery and the proximity to the Tundra above was a bonus. She hadnt met many others yet, but she had no doubt that she would learn their names and faces soon enough. Lost in thought though she had been, it would have taken near death to prevent her from picking up the sounds of a prey creature wallowing in the water of the Brook. It was fast moving water afterall and the new bodies soaking therein disrupted the melody of the river. Lena moved, keeping in the shadows for now as she approached the outskirts of the two gazelle bathing.

The newest bunch of Valours were proving to be quite the handful but it was easy enough to depict that she had a wonderful support system. There was plenty of folks who were willing to take watch of them even if it was just for ten minutes or so. Talisa was excited to take whatever time she could to stretch her legs just as she was always just as excited, if not more so, to return to them with much more energy than she had had prior. It was what made the thrill of a hunt all the more exciting as she moved through the breezy shadows of the Brook and towards the two gazelle that had wandered just a tad too close when their stores were rather low, given their circumstances.

Madeleine

5 years, no bonus

Madeleine has been asleep for the duration of the night since joining the brooks. Her travels were risky, so she had to walk beneath the rays of the sun and sleep as little as possible during the night. Thus, she has little time to commit to her job as the brooks' nursemaid. Not that she has met any cubs yet. Talisa's cubs are still nursing and with the heiress present there's really no need for Madeleine to step in. But when the smell of prey comes drifting into her den, she feels compelled to track them down and try her paw in hunting. She follows, slipping between tall blades of grass before she spots them soaking in the water. There are other lions here who no doubt wants to take part in the hunt. Seeing them makes her nervous that she'll fail, but she still wants to stay.

the queen's stomach rumbled in a soft sound of hunger as the scent of prey reached her nose, prompting her into quick and eager action. slender limbs coiled, pushing nymeria from her resting place in pursuit of the (hopeful) soon-to-be meal, which led her down towards the edge of the flowing water. thankfully she would not be alone today, for the shapes of @Lena, @Talisa, and @Madeleine were already present, all of which encouraged a small smile to perch itself across the druid's lips as she slunk closer towards hunting party. "ladies," she cooed softly in regards to the other women, settling in comfortably amongst the shadows of her peers as her eyes fell upon the awaiting prey, just beyond their reach. now that the pride was growing and prospering, nymeria knew that it was more important than ever to make sure the cache was plentiful and that all of their bellies were full -- now, and forevermore.

The odd man out.

Since his and Emery’s acceptance within the Brook pride, Set has rested his weary feet. It is now time to begin repaying Vermeda for taking them in; and perhaps, getting to know fellow inhabitants of the verdant territory. His small frame brushes through the undergrowth as he nears the conjoining of various lion scents. Nymeria’s had been the one he specifically tracked down — if only to ask her about duties she might wish for the navigator to fulfill. The opportunity to aid in a feast, however, presents itself before him and Set is keen to provide an extra set of claws and teeth. These two bathing gazelles came to the wrong neighborhood.

Curiosity has Emery following the recent trail of her fiancé. She had been on her way back to their shared den after a dip in the stream, but finds that he is headed in another direction entirely, and so she makes to follow him instead. Her ears twist forward curiously when she sees a number of her pridemates gathered, most of their faces new and unknown to her -- though she will be certain to take the time to learn who they all are. She sidles up alongside @Set amongst the tall grasses, her intrigued gaze peering out at the pair of gazelle that are so unsuspecting of the fact that they are being watched.

5 years, no bonus. More often than not he caught himself being exactly the type of individual he did not want to be -- antisocial. The kind of guy that lingers in the background while everyone else takes center stage. He didn't want the center but he did want to be a remembered individual when it came down to it. So he did the best he could with what he was given and came to sided next to @Nymeria, an almost hesitant gaze as he hoped that this was a show that he was starting to try to be a little more out there and involved. It was good for him to make bonds within Vermeda as he had originally done in the Cove.

It came as no surprise that they had taken down their target prey. The two gazelle were nothing for the lions of the Brook and they took both of them down with sufficient ease. Falling in tandem with one another as the adults took their look at their victory, easing into the celebratory breaths following. Good work, he offers to each of them while knowing that it wasn't much to give but in the very least, offered it to anyone that needed reassurance. Despite the prey being considered "easy", hunting as a pride took skill and he hoped that each of them saw how well they had worked together. Only after everyone took whatever bites they wanted for their work, would Gareth remove the gazelle from the area and help to store what was left before leaving to go hunt down one of his own children. exit gareth.
