While she was not as aggressive as her Dieudonne counterparts, Maude was loyal to those that led her and would do so for as long as she was able. For the many years that she had lived she knew at least how to survive in a harsh environment and through that fighting had evolved into something that helped that greatly. So with Vermier being ousted by the new ruler @Úlla, Maude was going to take no chances. She followed after her superiors without hesitation and would do her best to trouble this leader by any means possible. Signalling for the new High Sovereign to come get some -- Maude was waiting for you and she did not want to be kept waiting.

You stupid silly girl. Ulla did not know what ties this woman had for the previous ruler. She did not strike Ulla as a lioness who was related to him. And she had seen her fair share of lions that had lived under Vermier's banner - none of which, to her, looked remotely like him. But even an incompetent ruler had his followers, simpletons - all of them - and as the one who threw him down his throne, Ulla must make adjustments. It wasn't just her speaking and thinking, Vellen too raged deep within the northern woman's breast, like a warning sign, a call for blood. He brought her here, not @Maude, so she could defend what was hers and theirs.

By now, Ulla's instinct was to defend herself from an oncoming attack. Her claws were unsheathed, ears flattened, eyes narrowed, and limbs splayed for balance. She had no incentive to show off in her battle for dominance, so she simply lunged forward, feinting to her right and attempting to knock Maude backwards with the full force of her muscular chest. The tension cacked as Ulla pierced the air with her open jaw, attempting to slice her fangs into the woman's left eye and upper left cheek. Her thick tail whipped against the open air, giving Ulla additional balance as Vellen continued his rage next to her ears.

A shame that it had all come to this, really, but Maude was a woman of a war and so this was where she would be. Taking on the enemy like the dog that she had been taught to be. Spotting @Úlla coming at her swiftly and with a rage that would be expected of a ruler being risen against. With the gray heathen coming to her, Maude sunk her body a tiny bit closer to the ground and braced herself as best she could for the lunge and knock. Being brought backwards a few feet with a moderately sized bruised forming upon her chest, Maude leaned her head forward and to her own right, attempting to throw her jaws at the left side of Lagoon High Sovereign's open neck. The gray lioness' fangs did not land upon her left eye but instead just half an inch from its corner. Leaving behind some moderate lacerations and two minor puncture wounds. Right front paw was lifted off the ground as Maude attempted to let her claws sweep down Ulla's left front leg.

Bruises blossomed upon the northern woman's chest, but the pain was, yet again, an easy feeling to tolerate. Especially with what happened next. Ulla shifted to her right as @Maude's top fangs scraped against Ulla's neck as she attempted to use her left paw, with claws unsheathed, to smack Maude's right cheek, hoping to get her eye in the process. By doing so, she allowed Maude to slash against her front leg, creating long lacerations. The attempt at crushing the usurper's eye with her own fangs didn't go as planned. But that left her mouth open for more opportunities to bite into something. Ulla's right paw cut up in an attempt to swipe at Maude's left shoulder, just as Ulla's mouth opened and attempted to take a bite from Maude's right ear.

While Maude's initial move might have been miscalculated, she takes no chances and promptly attempts to make a grip on the left side of @Úlla's neck. One gray and large left paw reaching up to smack Maude on her right cheek causing a few minor lacerations, if only by proximity strangling the chance at a harsher blow. Before Maude placed her right foreleg entirely back to the ground, she moves it to target the gray woman's left flank and attempts to claw at an angle towards her stomach. The woman was fierce and with jaws extended, appropriately takes a small chunk off the left side of Maude's left pointed ear.

Maude had fought to earn the rank she had, fought against Amara and she knew that the lioness could hold her own. While Genya had ended up being a dud, Maude hadn't stepped out of line since arriving and now she was willing to fight to help keep their pride to them. That was enough for Amara to have great respect for her and it wouldn't be forgotten. Blood was being spilled as the star covered lioness focuses on the fight and moves in closer. She wanted to jump in but also wanted to give Maude the room to fight the fight she chose to have. Still she was there for support and to make sure that nothing fishy happened.

Every time she turns around, she could swear there's a lion in the Lagoon that she hasn't had the pleasure of meeting. It's weird. Despite having lived here for more than three months so far, Ursula hasn't ever encountered the wheat woman who chooses to test the grey usurper. What's far stranger is that the woman's (Maude's) scent is actually familiar to the deaf yearling. It is sprinkled here or there across the island that Scilla calls home, and for some reason the memories of their latest pride hunt resurface as those lilac eyes appraise the ongoing battle. Perhaps the older lioness had been there? Urs had been far too preoccupied on the prey at hand, at the promise of food. Perhaps after all of this was done, she'd investigate her unknown pridemates more thoroughly. For now she reclines near to @Amara, sparing her a fleeting glance before focusing on figuring a victor between the two raging lionesses.

The lacerations were minor, but it was easily success in Ulla's opinion. Now, she'd take anything like a success - a bruise, a cut, a scrape. She was tired and she was hungry, both for food and revenge. How dare these cretins to think they can take what was hers? @Maude's foreleg moved, attempting to cut from her flank to her stomach. While Ulla was able to shift, the woman's claws still found purchase. Several five-inch-long wounds lacerated against her stomach fur, cutting deep, and drawing blood. Something lodged in the back of Ulla's throat before an instinctive snarl forced it down the gullet. She attempted once more to perform a bite towards Maude's ear, hoping this could remove the entirety of it - as punishment. Meanwhile, Ulla attempted to strike Maude's right shoulder with her paw by hoping to beat at it with her claws.

Maude could not begin to think of the damage that had been done to her ear, not in the slightest. All that was left was just to fight and bury herself in the action. Somewhere in the middle of it it was lost as to what it was she was fighting for but that was just blindness at some point. Going numb within so as to pull through and not feel remorse for the damage that she had wrought. A lesson learned by her father that had morphed into something far crueler. Countering @Úlla's attempt at gnawing off the ear, Maude attempted to move her head downwards so that she might try and attempt to push the top of her head against the woman's chest and push upwards (to knockback). Úlla's teeth hitting her left shoulder hard, causing a rather tenuous bruise as well as a couple minor puncture wounds. One large paw, Úlla's, coming down upon her right shoulder and beating into it, causing several minor lacerations with each beating it took.
