Sunflower had found the tide pools and rocks during low tide, but he wasn’t interested in the water. No, he was much more interested in the height it gave him. This would be the perfect sort of place to sing. Though caves were better for acoustics, being up high made your voice carry much better. Although it was a cool day, the sun shone in the sky. His golden pelt seemed to shimmer. His crown would turn out as he faced away from the waves. He took a deep breath, singing a few words and notes to warm up. Then, once another breath was taken, he began his low, booming singing.

“I couldn't utter my love when it counted
Ah, but I'm singing like a bird 'bout it now
I couldn't whisper when you needed it shouted
Ah, but I'm singing like a bird 'bout it now.”

Then his voice seemed to soar, his eyes closed as he sang, going to a much higher octave than before. Putting a lot of power and passion behind his words.

“The words hung above
But never would form
Like a cry at the final
Breath that is drawn

And glorious thorn.”

The sound of a love ballad sprang through the air to the girl who had been hanging out at the Tidepools a lot as of late. Ears pressed forward atop her skull, as far forward as they could go, head swinging around until she located the direction of the source of the singing. Interest piqued indeed.
With a very curious face, Amra struck out on her adventure, over rocks and around pools, looking down more than looking up so as to not inadvertently end up ass over tit in some water. Eventually she drew closer to the sound of the voice and finally looked up to see a glowing figure upon the rocks, flower crown upon bright half mane.
She paused then, mouth slightly open in surprise, then looked around to source a suitable flat area to seat herself. When comfortable, tail curled around paws, prime position to soak in the sun and what little warmth it provided, Amra set herself up to listen to the impromptu concert, thrilled to have found something like this.

He noticed the scent of the woman, it was much like that pride her cousin was claimed in. But knowing that ugly, rude man, he’d probably claimed her. It was only right he gave her something nice to listen to. Sunny turned more towards her, to give her a more proper concert. He sang the words more directly towards her. In his bardly way, he was probably flirting. But she was quite close to him in age, so sue him.

“And I'd no idea on what ground I was founded
All of that goodness is goin' with you now
Then when I met you, my virtues uncounted

“Dragging along
Following your form
Hung like the pelt
Of some prey you had worn

And glorious thorn.” He paused, preparing himself for the final verse, as it was much lower and sadder. Yes, it was a love song, but much more bittersweet if you followed closely to the lyrics. He glanced away from her, looking wistful, trying to convey the emotions to her.

“I fled to the kingdom with so much discounted
Ah, but I'm flying like a bird to you now
Back to the brindles where bodies are mounted
Ah, but I'm flying like a bird to you now.” Then he looked straight back at her. Ah, this was his favorite part. The ending. He still looked wistful, but more focused on her than before.

“I was housed by your warmth
Thus transformed
By you're grounded and giving
And darkening scorn
Remember me, love
When I'm reborn
As a shrike to your sharp
And glorious thorn.”

He was done, and so bowed his head. Quite pleased with his vocals. He’d given a technically perfect performance. Though Sunny thought he was a bit lacking in the theatrics. “Hello there, does the lady have any requests?” He asked politely. Examining her more closely now. She was quite stunning, everywhere you looked, a different pattern to take in. Much like him, in certain places.

Seated at the front row, Amra was treated to a voice that raised up, and then trickled low, over and under, weaving words of love and sadness that Amra didn't quite follow along with. Call her dense, but she was listening more to the tone of voice and the way the voice rose and fell, moreso than to the words or what the theme of the song was about beyond love.
The male turned toward her to allow her to hear better and Amra closed her head, nodding along off-time to the words, given she didn't quite know the rythym to keep in time. All in all, she was a very off-kilter, uncoordinated individual when it came to songs. Go figure.
Between verses the male paused, and Amra cracked open her eyes to see his expression so lost in what he was singing that the emotions moving through him escaped into his features.
Finally the male wound up to the final verse and sang his heart out until, silence.
Amra remained seated for a moment, looking up over at the male who only asked if she had any requests. Amra laughed and shook her head. "I'm pretty unfamiliar with songs I'm sorry, I wouldn't know any names to give you!" she spoke, her voice raised in order to carry across the gap between them. "You've got a great voice," she complimented after a moment, nodding her head enthusiastically to agree with what she had said. Where had he learnt to sing like that? Amra didn't even want to attempt it, knowing that her own voice was not the type to be raised in song that captivated audiences. Her voice was a tool to speak and that was about it.

The woman had none to request, and he dipped his head, “ah, that’s alright, ma’am,” at her compliment, all he did was smile, a bit of smugness to it, “I’m glad you liked it! I’m self-taught, actually.” Which sometimes made him wonder just how good he was. But it gave him bragging rights, never having a proper mentor. Sure, some of his aunts and uncles had helped him learn to sing and perfect it. But he mostly flew solo when it came to his voice. He found it produced a more genuine sound to one’s singing.

Humming, he smiled at her, approaching closer. “I’m Sunny, what is your name, my enraptured audience?” He asked, a bit teasing. She was still a bit away from adulthood, it looked. She wasn’t quite as filled out as she probably would be, come a few moons time. But she was still pretty, nonetheless. Curious about her pedigree and such, honestly. In his family, many genetics were going on at all times, so you didn’t really know where markings came from. But hers were so... carefully placed, almost. Like they’d lived in some sort of large pride or tribe where the markings were necessary. Oh, but that wasn’t important, he really just wanted to get to know her.

The man was so polite, forgiving her easily for not knowing any songs. Truth be told, beyond the ditties her mother had occasionally sung her as a child, Amra hadn’t been privy to any song voices that she could recall. No song, nor art, nor anything. Head tilted in thought as she considered making a big picture eon the ground somewhere, maybe out of vines and rocks. But it would only work if you looked at it from above. Regardless, Amra was brought back to reality when the male explained that he was self taught.
A surprised expression opened Amra’s muzzle a little bit, head tilting. ”Well, for someone who taught themselves, you sure taught yourself well,” she spoke, offering up the compliment easily, though lacking any underlying flirtatious advances. Although Amra had engaged in sarcastic roasting with Ambrosine and Rythian, she had yet to develop any subtle nuances to lead someone on in that aspect.
Therefore, when the male approached across rocks and offered his name and ‘enraptured audience’, Amra thought little of it. ”My name’s Amra!” She offered in response, remaining where she sat to allow him to pick a place closer upon the rocks if he wished. ”How come you’re singing out here to the fishes?” She asked after a moment, looking to the side at a nearby pool, spying several brightly coloured fish darting about, trapped until the tide came back in.

At the compliment, he grinned, perhaps a touch of smugness on his lips. Yeah he had a bit of an ego, but it didn’t stop him from being nice either. “Thank you, Miss, I appreciate the compliment.” He did, too. Yes, it might be one he heard fairly often but... ah, he did love his singing. Though he wished he knew more bards that could give him more critical feedback. It would hurt his ego a bit but... maybe he could stand to be taken down a few notched.

The woman seemed to be completely unaware of his flirting. But that was alright, friendly conversation was always welcome too. Amra. “That’s very pretty.” He complimented, and he believed it too, no phony flattery. It rolled off the tongue easily, had a feminine quality to it... and it suited her. Sunny laughed at her words, quite heartily. “Ah, fish are the best audience! They just stare at you, no compliments, no criticism. Also... my cousins and siblings are probably bored of my voice! They’ve heard that song a few times.” He glanced at the fish himself. Hm. Perhaps he needed an afternoon snack?

Large grin opened her muzzle, always happy to have made someone feel better about themselves with a compliment. Little did the girl know that compliments were the last thing the bloke needed for his already swollen head and ego. Still, at least he was nice about receiving it, thanking her. As far as Amra was aware, the male was polite and humble. Perhaps some time he’d show that he was a pompous bloke who thought too highly of himself, but today was not that day. Today was just a day for sunshine and singing and fishes.
Her introduction was met with a compliment to her name and she paused a moment, unsure how to take a compliment herself. ”Thanks!” She ended up with, the pause a bit too obvious, but ending up just rolling with what the male had said when it had been his turn. Sunny, his name was. And oh how his coat matched his name. Perhaps that was why his parents had named him such.
When she mentioned fish, the male easily explained why fish were the best audience. Although, while he was speaking, when he spoke of his cousin and siblings, Amra had thought he was going to tell her that his cousins and siblings were all fish too. So when he said instead probably bored of his voice, she laughed. ”Time for some new material then? Could you sing about fish instead?” Question laid out, wide, innocent eyes looking over to him, while he looked at the fish. ”Or maybe just eating them,” she added as an afterthought, laughing again and rising to her paws to quickly traverse the distance between herself and the nearest pool.

The other seemed to not know how to take a compliment, but that was alright. He still meant it and all. She seemed happy enough. Friendly, too. His type of friend. She requested for a song about fish. He thought for several moments. Suddenly, his stomach growled, right as he was about to sing. A bit embarrassing, but hey, it was obvious what he wanted to do to those fish! “Think we can snag a few?” He asked, grinning, and weaving over to a tidepool with plenty of the rascals.

He sat across from Amra, his paw striking out, but missing. Ugh... he sucked at this! Of course he knew that but... still didn’t make it any better! He huffed. Focusing, he huffed his paw out again, snagging a smaller one. He smiled at her triumphantly. Like a cub would with his first kill. Though it was true he’d not had many successful hunts in his adult life so far.

His stomach grumble wasn't lost on the girl, who had heard it as she had moved to get the fish. She laughed quietly, not wishing to embarass him too much. After all, it was a normal bodily function. One that Amra's stomach heard and then, embarassingly, replicated. A more delicate, lady-like gurgle that she tried to mask with a cough. She looked up at him as he settled across the pond from her and then grinned, happy to have found a new friend. And a fishing buddy to boot.
She watched him for a moment, his first attempt resulting in a miss and then a second attempt resulting in a little fish. Amra returned his grin with a wide smile of her own, nodding encouragingly. "Well done!" She praised, before looking back down at the water herself.
Momentarily she thought of being able to yeet a cub in, like she'd threatened a young boy one other time. She felt she was a bit big to go yeeting herself in, fearing that the fish would all simply vanish the moment her body entered the water. As it was, each time Sunny threw his paw in, they scattered.
Amra crouched at the water's edge, studying the movements of the fish, sizing up small from large until, finally, she found a large specimen that should surely feed her in its singular being.
Butt wiggle once, twice, standing slightly to creep along the bank, pausing and staring down the fish, so blissfully unaware, and then BAM.
Amra thrust herself forward, forepaws extended to clasp the fish around the middle and sink her claws in. Body followed suit, ending up creating quite the splash before she surfaced awkwardly, doing her best to hold onto the fish that thrashed within her grasp. No time was spent looking toward Sunny as she tried to yeet it to shore, only to have it fall at the edge and begin to flop back in. With an awkward half turn, Amra slapped it further up onto the shore before laying there panting, watching it to make sure it didn't flop any closer, and caught her breath.
Never had she considered fishing to be so hard.
