Her transition from the beach to here had not been easy. For a long time, Genya debated with herself if she ought to be looking for a pride. But with the bouts of tiredness and aches, she thought it be smart if she joined a pride temporarily. The encouragement to take a rank once her strange illness ended was what compelled her to continue forth into Maua's Passage. Here, it was blessedly warmer than the black beach. And it was a welcoming sight to behold. No more sea rocking forth and no longer did she hear the persistent screech of sea birds. This land was enveloped in a calmness that soothed her nerves. Genya would spend her days here, if not for the lack of proper dens and beddings.

Under the storm clouds, Genya crossed the earth, feeling the warmth caress her paw pads. She had lost a few pounds, but not too much to warrant concern. Her pelt was still sleek and shone with health, though it covered the maladies which struck her bones. Salmon-colored tongue slipped out, tasting the copper of her fangs before licking at her lips. Genya wanted to rest on a sun-touched boulder like times past, but there was no sun and no flat boulder-top to hop on. Her ears flicked, searching for a sign of paw steps coming her way.

Another day another trip to the passage. She had brought a couple new members back to the pride lately as well as done a lot of hunting. Feeling great now that she was fully healed the orange faced lady had hit her stride once more. Hopefully that meant she was on the right path towards her redemption and getting the pride to look past her mistakes. Gaining their trust again was important to her. She could only hope that others saw the work she was putting in.

Purring softly to herself as she walked forward she spotted a dark figure of a lioness and headed her way. Letting out a chuff to announce herself to the other woman she stopped a few feet away. “Greeting, I am Arjana. Gentry of Wolfbron Bluffs. Welcome to Amaryllis are you in need of any assistance? Or are perhaps searching for a home? If so the Bluffs can offer you one, but we come at a price.” She spoke calmly as she looked over @Genya for any sign that might say not this one move along.

He sought those with no history so he could make their future. The rogues and strays of the outer wilds approached through this sand mecca. To his holy city he would send them. Selective as ever, he doubted he would approach this female once he smelled @Arjana preceding him. He did not want his relation with the Bluffs lioness to become dulled by the commonplace. Seeing someone every day... killed the passion. But he decided to swing into sight range anyway, thinking that the lions of the passage would have their life improved by knowing he was lurking and sometimes feeling his eyes on them, not knowing what it meant.

So he was lucky. He knew this lioness immediately. He would know her if she was drenched in mud. The beautiful Genya! He had thought this flame fleeting and quenched but another cheap, quick-burning candle was lit. The lumbering brute veered toward her. Immediately his ears were up and perked and his tail waved as well. He approached her - coming alongside Arjana, and slightly ahead of her, slightly less respectful of personal space. The Frenchman was not so standoffish as these cold English naifs! Particularly when it came to someone who was so treasurable. "Ah, @Genya," he purred, his voice having all the dripping semblance of someone who was deeply invested in licking her toes. Although he did not try to lick her toes. Only because it had not occurred to him as something she might like.

He stared at her with thin, narrow pupils, shockingly sober and unsynced. He thought he had gotten over her. He had. But she was still the most beautiful lioness he had ever seen and he would weep for that, that fortune had not drawn their lives into formation. "I am King. But eez shit - eez no rank, eez rogue; see Genya all the everyday, is real happy."

The first lion to come to her was a pretty lioness whose pelt reminded her of the earth beneath. A name was provided - Arjana was pleasant and Genya was curious about the bluffs. Before she could respond, someone else - a smell she knew enough - came towards them. Silver eyes dipped towards Vermier, the one man from her past she was shocked to see in a position as king. However, Genya knew little of him, aside from that gut feeling telling her Vermier was a bit too fascinated by her being. She didn't know what to do with it. He looked easily manipulated and she could try that approach. But she didn't want to be surprised if he wasn't. And Genya hated being surprised. Genya she told Arjana, with a dip of her head in politeness. A grin appeared on her face as she turned to Vermier. I remember you. A part of her still couldn't fathom seeing him as King. He didn't even like it, judging from what he said. But it looks like you need guidance, I can offer...assistance she added, before turning her attention to Arjana. It's an honor to know you, but I will be going with an old friend. For now anyway. Genya just needed to rest and then she may endeavor to recapture the ambitious flame she once nurtured. Even if it meant stomaching a king who liked her a little too much. [exit w/ vermier?] @Arjana @Vermier

Giving the dark lioness a smile the orange faced lady was getting ready to answer any questions and perhaps have a nice conversation when the woman as a familiar scent came to her nose. Grey gaze turned to look at @Vermier and he seemed to know the woman already. Raising a brow at him for a moment she gave him a respectful dip of her head in greeting. Looking back at @Genya she listened and nodded. A bit disappointed that she wouldn’t be returning to the Bluffs without the lioness, but she could understand. “Ah understandable. Well it do hope we have a chance to cross paths again.” She said politely giving both a nod again before taking her own leave.

Look at me look at me. He wanted to be the only thing that mattered. He wished that the sight of him could inspire @Genya to sweep all relevance of pride and sand aside. He would never have the power of female beauty. He could never bear power so gracefully; he would not have the ice in his veins to feign niceties. It would kill him.

He stared at her while he awaited her response. It was better than staring at anything else, but still torture. And it pained him. Did she not value him? He tried to interpret her smile. It was too overwhelming with physical details for him to see what was behind it. She remembered him. She probably remembered lots of lions. She was that sort of lioness. But he wanted to be first among those she remembered. He straightened up proudly as she correctly ascertained that he needed something. 'Guidance' too obscure a word for his simple French mind to know. Assistance also too gentle a word. He had a guess at what it meant from context. "I need @Genya! All Genya give, I take!" He hoped his heartfulness would smooth out any translational misunderstandings.

Notice me notice me! the thoughts crowded louder and his heart felt like it flushed, though his fangs felt curled under leather. He glared a hole through the retreating form of @Arjana who had taken some of Genya's attention that would best be given to himself. They must leave these horribly crowded sands and soon! When he looked back at Genya he was all a single smile and flash-black pupils. "Come mademoiselle come! Serve you king! Very run!" he paced ahead of her, impatiently pawing at the sand to mimic fast travel. "Eat, water, a'Skeela!" All the best for Genya. The caches better be fresh or someone would be feeling his claws.
