Grimm, these days, was positively delighted with everything he had been longing for. He had his pride back, he was back under the rule of Luther, and things were looking up. He ventured from the pride that morning after marking the borders with fresh scents. He was keen on a walk, to see where the day took him and see who lingered just beyond the borders of the Mire pride.

His walk took him through the thickest parts of the jungle, though it was much less humid and buggy than it was usually, given the winter months were upon them. He noted it had been quiet here, due to their more northern cousins, the Rainforest and wondered what had them so docile as of late. He paused in the jungle, sniffing the air and trying to get a read on... just about anything.

He supposed of all the things that could come and drive them out, elephants were a very good reason to have to run for their lives. It was still annoying, because by the time they were able to come back someone else had set up shop within the lands, but as Gauthier had told him, lands and crowns meant nothing. Blood meant everything.

And speaking of blood...

A familiar pale form (though not as pale as himself) moved through the foliage, pausing to scent the air not far away. You won't find anything, he commented in their native tongue without rising from his place under the overhang of a leafy bush, blocking the worst of the sun from spilling down on him from above. It was warmer here than other areas of the lands, at least. Most of the year, that sucked, but currently it was a respite from the ice and snow.

The area was weirdly... empty. He did not scent too many of the scents of their neighbors in the surrounding area and he briefly wondered had it been that they were raided or otherwise disbanded for some reason. A voice, piping up from the underbrush nearby, would further solidify that notion. @Everick , former resident of the pride in question. If he was lounging out here, then Gauthier's kingdom must've fallen.

"Der Regenwald wurde geplündert?" (The rainforest got raided?) he asked, quirking a brow and scanning the nearby brush for his brother, spotting his pale coat after a moment. "Zat explains vhy you haf made zee junkle your nappink grounds." Grimm closed the distance between them now, lowering his rump to the dirt and tipping his head in curiosity.

Ja, von Elefanten, he replied, sitting up as Grimm approached so they could look eye to eye... or as much as was possible given their height difference. Yes, by elephants. Elephants, of all things. He hadn't really known what to do after the Rainforest had fallen, and if he was being honest he was embarrassed to make his way to the Mire and beg to be let in. Because he figured that was how that particular conversation would go. Couldn't really see any other way it went. Really he should have swallowed his pride and done it already, but here they both were. It was nice there, he said simply. That was all there was to it.

Go ahead, give me shit, he said, gesturing towards himself with a paw. He knew his bother was going to have commentary so he figured they might as well get it over with already.
