As the snow fell lightly around her, Thella paid it little mind. Instead, as he trudged slowly through what had already fallen, she took her time, sweeping her tail back and forth behind her to disguise any sign of her presence along their borders. She looked back every few steps to make sure they couldn't be seen and on the occasion she missed a spot, she went back over it until it had disappeared.

It was during one of these pauses that the sound of a nearby herd met her ears. She took off in the direction of the herd's many calls, letting out one of her own for the other Hollow's members to join her. I'll come back to finish that later.

karsa has taken to the responsibility thrust on his shoulders like a fish takes to water. his mornings start early, patrolling the borders and ensuring the pride's security from any incoming threats. yes, even when the chilly bite to the air made it all too tempting to stay curled up in his den. the young man found this weather to be some of the best for exercising. over time, karsa has found that the morning runs have gotten easier to bare, that his lungs don't burn quite as much or half as quickly as they used to. his muscles have also grown in the past few months and not only due to aging, turning a gangly, lean boy into the beginnings of a well-built man.

he sets out as usual this morning, paw pads pounding against the ground and breath coming in white plumes. blue eyes, as always, sharp and observant as karsa continues along the obsidian hollow border lines. thankfully, it seems nothing is amiss for the first half of his exercising and patrolling, so he finally takes a short break about halfway in. it is then, while the man is catching his breath, that he hears the calls for assistance and smells prey in the air. he shoots forward to meet @Thella ♔ quickly, flashing the woman a small smile as he sprints past her and starts weaving towards the elephants ahead, hoping to separate a weaker one from the group. once they isolated one, the group could start wearing it down and move in for the final hit and satisfying kill.

The sound of @Thella ♔ 's voice reached his twitching ears where the swirled warrior rested after his latest trip to the gates. A hunt? Well he certainly wouldn't be passing up a chance to help the pride by participating in one of his favorite tasks.

Rising to his paws the High Sovereign set forth towards the sound of the summons, smiling when he noticed @Karsa already in attendance. Damn the youth had gotten so big, even just during the months Reti had known him. And Karsa continued to be reliable and helpful...indeed Reti stood by his prior assessment, the kid would grow to be a great warrior and leader some day if he peruses that life.

A little smile of greeting was given to Thella and Karsa as the later moved towards the heard Reti oved to take a position, ready to start once the go ahead was given. His gaze shifts to examine the prey ... an elephant. Oof. That felt a little odd after talking to a calf recently. Hopefully this lunch wasn't related to that youth.

With a loud stretch and a yawn that might have been even louder, he cultivated every energy he had and made a very lazy path through the tunnels. Thella's voice was enough of a reason to go but he did enjoy hunting alongside the pride when they time came. Just that his friend would always get his company so that he could show her his support no matter the event that they created. So he swallowed his fear almost immediately as he recognized that they were hunting down a rather gigantic elephant and almost felt like he wanted to turn around. But seeing Thella and Karsa chase it, Cosmin just shook his head and chased it with them. If they could do it, he could too!

Perhaps she'd grown a bit complacent since the birth of her cubs. But it had been months now and she decided to at least make use of her claws somewhat. After all, she had never been one to be idle for long, even if her work was done from the shadows.

Silently, the shadowed viper stalked the border, fluffy tail swishing ever so elegantly to disguise the beautiful paw prints, leaving nothing but seemingly freshly fallen snow behind. She'd disappeared before her path along the borders, ensuring that not a single scent clinging to her would link her back to her home. Not with the children there. Outside the border, even as she followed the call and scent trails, she brushed against bushes and trees, maintaining the illusion of not belonging anywhere.

Briefly, she snorted a soft greeting towards @Karsa once she'd spotted the boy. Well, no longer just a boy now, was he? A man, strong and fierce as he was meant to be. The others too were given a quiet noise of greeting, though it was not the scent of the Hollows that clung to the shadow as she moved to assess their quarry while waiting for them to move as well. Only the scent of the wilds.

though karsa's able to leave a gash on the animal, it slows only marginally and isn't enough for the pride to properly catch up and bring it down. more still needed to be done. the man takes a second to regroup, noticing the other pride members joining the hunt as well and shooting a grin at @Syanna in particular as his sister-in-law throws herself into the fray.

karsa's legs bunch, propelling his body forward to curve in a wide arc as he aims to cut the prey off completely. it would have to either run right into his waiting jaws or veer off course, further into their own territory where it would be much harder to escape away. muscles burn at the effort, the exercise making his heart pound and breath ragged. even if it wasn't a dedicated work out, the exercise that came with chasing and bringing down another was not to be underestimated in the least. karsa had found long ago that this was hard work.

While happy for those that had showed, the elephant was proving to be an incredible challenge, and Thella figured one of two things was going to happen: more of their pride members were going to show and, through sheer strength in numbers they were going to bring it down, or they were going to be out here awhile, trudging through the snow after the beast, until they hopefully tired it out. Guess the third option would be that we wear down first and don't get a meal at all, she thought sullenly. No, no. Don't think that way. BE positive!

With a huff, she put in a little more effort until she was level with it and could make some nabs at its forelegs.

they keep going and although the prize this elephant would be was a tantalizing motivator - likely feeding their pride for quite some time - the reality of bringing down an animal so much larger and stronger than them is a harsh one to face. by the time karsa readies himself for a third round of attempting to slow their prey down, he's panting hard. the exertion from running for so long and the strength that it took to be jumping and holding for so long was starting to wear the young man down.

nonetheless, karsa hadn't worked this hard to let the animal get away. after a brief respite spent trotting along behind the group, blue eyes finally catch another opening where he can be successful. back legs bunch and then the young savante is once again off like a rocket, aiming to cut the creature off and send it barreling deeper and deeper into the hollows. hopefully the commotion would be enough to draw some more help for the hunt.

4 years, pride tier 1; +1 dice Ranger level 2: +1 dice The big male was patrolling the borders taking the initiative to keep an eye for trouble. His main task was hunting but it didn't mean he couldn't help with other duties. Protection was another of his chosen paths after all. He sniffed as he went, with his usual calm expression, doing his best to detect anything or perhaps anyone who might didn't belong here. He walked fast to also work on his endurance for he knew any moment was right to sharpen his skills and improve his stamina. Fights could be long and he wanted to be ready to be able to not collapse of exhaustion top fast. But as he went he heard an elephant's noise and soon its smell. Quickly he approached finding pride mates already on the move to take it down. Nodding to himself he positioned himself aiming to help them. While Cosmin was not going to be the fastest kid at the race track, he certainly did whatever he could to put on a good show. Looking the part and playing the part to the best of his ability; but most importantly, he looked like he actually contributed and did these things often instead of lounged around the pride whenever his attention hadn't been grabbed by something far more important than a nap. At least when he was chasing after large prey, he had the ability to slack off but he also enjoyed getting his paws dirty, too.
