Another day, another adventure. Or something like that. In his continued mission to expand his knowledge of Amaryllis, he'd set out a little before midday, and picked a different direction this time. After a restless night, he wasn't all that willing to skirt too close to the coast, and so he moved toward the plains instead.

Such a wide-open landscape left him feeling more exposed than he tended to enjoy, but he was trying to move past that and attribute the feeling to growing up (and spending the majority of his time) in the dense foliage of the jungle. There, a flash of lilac between shadows and leaves could be written off as a flower or something. Out here, his floral pelt stood out more obviously and he resisted the urge to crouch and crawl through the tall grass.

Lucifer sighed and shook his head, a night of bad dreams always left him feeling more anxious the next day. Just needed a good distraction, that was all. And what better distraction than investigating the world, right?

The scent of the border brought him back out of his own head and his path automatically shifted to follow the invisible line. Here, too, the land was open and mostly covered in tall grasses. Lucifer moved at an easy, casual, stroll, keeping a steady few feet between himself and the border proper. Given how few places there were to be sneaky, he wondered just how long it might be before someone within became curious and came to see what he was doing, but for the time being, he'd take in what he could of the gently rolling landscape.

the amber glow of vast, open fields were the lighthouse to beckon her home, and she feverishly hounds its radiance amongst the bleak midwinter. but she were not the only lost sailor to submit to its quiet allure, and as she drifts toward the fringes of its coast, her attention reflexively draws to a lingering blight amongst the gold. @Lucifer were as a fissure upon the borderline – loud in appearance, but static amongst the wind-whipped grasses of her keep – and with whetted intrigue, olive’s trajectory shifts as she moves to approach from the stranger’s rear.

harboring only the purest of intentions, she unleashes a soft chuff so as not to alarm her prying visitor. a reflexive smirk unfolds across her countenance before her saunter draws to a halt: parallel, yet with a cushion of space purposefully left between. “almost didn’t see you there,” she taunts, sparing a knowing glance to the pastels in his coat._{BG — ART — CODE}

It was funny how fates simply aligned sometimes. Valkyrie didn't believe in hogwash like fate or destiny, but she did know to appreciate a coincidence when she saw one; or an opportunity, rather.

She had spotted the larger yearling from afar moseying towards Lorien and, being the obnoxious brat she was, Kyrie couldn't deny the fact she was curious. He certainly didn't smell like the plains, but maybe he was visiting.. or maybe he was just as bored as she was and looking for trouble.

The small Brynmawr scooped some ruddy mud from a nearby puddle and rubbed it across her toes, blurring the soft white blotches into brown. She repeated the process over a few more patches, attempting to look as dull and nonthreatening as possible before she sucked in a breath and fell into character.

The yearling burst onto the scene seconds after Olive arrived, eyes wide and breathing heavily. “Jeff! You can't just wander off like that!” she belated, nearly throwing herself at the larger lion in exasperation. “I'm so sorry, miss, this is my brother and he's just..” she lifted a paw, swirling a single toe in a circle near her temple. “He means no harm, do you, Jeff?” Valkyrie huffed and glared up at him, magenta eyes alit with mischief.

Being so close to a territory, he expected someone to come investigate eventually. Especially since there wasn't really anywhere for him to hide and observe a while like he preferred. The whisper-hiss of someone else moving through the grasses was the first clue, the chuff was the next, and Lucifer slowed to look back as the stranger approached. A smirk of his own formed at the greeting, such as it was, catching the humor, Funny. Amused, not offended. With her so close he could match the scent coming off her pelt to the territory just a few feet away, You live here or are you just exploring, too? He could tease, too.

It was the young voice that was the real surprise, his attention shifting to find the source. Lucifer was not yet too old for dumb cub games, not really, so the girl was lucky. It only took him a second to realize she was talking to him and not some yet-unseen individual - the real 'jeff'.

But, c'mon. Really, kid? Jeff?

The lilac youth rolled his eyes in that long-suffering brotherly way he'd had plenty of practice with among his actual siblings, aiming a play-swat at the girl's head for her gesture, Yeah, and you're not supposed to be out on your own are you. Looked younger than him. Actually, she looked like she really could be one of his sisters who took more after their mother with the browns.

if the yearling bore a resemblance to his zebra-maned predecessor, olive were blind to the signifiers, wrought within his form. were she more perceptive to its cues, she may have accused the boy of scoping out another kingdom for daddy dearest to thieve from her; but in her ignorance, were she a portrait of lax as she linger near his side. there were nothing particularly daunting in his carriage to suggest of depraved intent, and as the smirk reflexively unfolds across his countenance, the queen determines his good-humored company were favorable enough to keep.

his question earns a quizzical grin, and she gestures toward her keep with a flick of the wrist in a tacit search for affirmation. for a prolonged moment, she considers the sprawling field before them: riddled with the potent musk off her own hide. “never seen it before,” she deadpans, pressing forth into the labyrinth of golden fronds she’d always worn like a second skin. a kinked simper finds @Lucifer as she peers over her shoulder and beyond the marked borders of lorien where he’d stalled. “shall we?” were the invitation extended before she’d strive to push onward — and halt, just as quickly.

@Valkyrie were equally as unassuming as her presumed sibling, and as she beelines toward them with familiar chiding, so does olive pivot back to start with jaws set agape. pupils waver between the pair while they bicker in such a way that only brother and sister can; and as the situation further devolves, the queen struggles to contain her amusement with the firm press of her lips. a mere bystander to familial affairs, she patiently waits for an opening before injecting herself into the midst of heated conversation. “and what totally awe-inspiring name did your parents give you?” she quips, gesturing to the younger of the pair with an inclining chin. surely, nothing could beat jeff; but then again, her own name were no more fearsome. how do you do, fellow kids?_{BG — ART — CODE}

Valkyrie shifted her attention between the two involuntary players in her game, eager to delve deeper into her story. The story that she was making up as she went, starring her brother Jeff and his stony facade. Seriously, David could learn a thing or two from the guy. Valkyrie was worried he would call her out on her bullshit, but the lion made no attempts to do anything but swat at her head. The yearling grumbled and flashed her teeth at him, immediately incensed at the audacity to insinuate she couldn't take care of herself. Just like her real brothers.

“I'm not alone, clearly.” Valkyrie swept her paw in an arc, gesturing to the two other lions. “And someone had to make sure you take your medicine on time before your explosive diarrhea starts back up. It's bad to be wandering so close to medication time.” The lioness snorted, shaking her head with irritation. That's what you fucking get for insinuating she incapable, bitch. You get diarrhea.

Her ears swiveled towards @Olive, sparing @Lucifer a moment of her wrath. What name did she have? Um. Ah. Well. Her eyes bounced around, scanning, searching.. until they landed on Olive’s claws – or what remained of them. “Claw.. dia. Clawdia. Claudia.” She nodded confidently, expelling a short puff of air through her nasal passage to accentuate it.

Another swat was aimed at her head when the girl tossed out a much more disgusting lie, You're the one who's full of shit, thought you were told to stop making up stupid stuff. Little bit of a real warning there behind the sibling-like retort. It was dangerous, this game she was playing. What if he hadn't been so willing to play along? What if he was the sort to get more offended by the ridiculous things she said? They were perfect strangers, really, and she had no way of knowing what might set him off, if anything.

Claw. Dia. Claudia. Okay. Sure, he'd roll with that.

His attention shifted back to their unlikely audience and Lucifer pulled on an apologetic sort of smile - of the sort one might offer when about to share somewhat embarrassing information about someone else. Sorry about her. Compulsive liar, y'know how it is. A half-shrug, as if this was a subject he'd dealt with all her life, Gets bored and makes up stories. Lucifer, himself, was unaware how true or not that was, but it seemed very plausible here.

So, uh, was that a tour you were offering, then? She'd invited him to follow behind her before Claudia showed up, right? He'd only intended to trace the outside of the borders, but a peek inside could be very interesting, too.
