It was like she lived here. Aphrodite would let herself rest for a few days, let her cuts and bruises and everything else heal or close up before she returned. It called to her. The chaos that wrapped itself around her very soul. Her heart. Perhaps she would never be able to love someone because she had no heart. No soul to give to her lovers. Aphrodite would never know what the meaning of love meant, not like her parents did as she strolled like the queen she was in to the pit and called out for someone - anyone - to come and fight. She was ready for another gamble of life with fangs and claws.

While he hardly could consider the battle arena a second home, it had become a sort of ... coping method, a way to keep the violence within from building into an explosive pressure then unleased on those he would rather keep intact.

Reti was out hunting when the call reached his ears, a familiar voice that drew a faint upward twist to one corner of his mouth. Ahhhh. Was she feeling a call to blood? Mmmm. He could certainly comply.

In fact, as she was...almost family...in a way. Perhaps he would show her something special and fascinating. One of the little tactical gems kept hidden behind thick lashes and loaded glance.

Winter had landed, snow and ice kissed winds often lashing the land. And when it was briefly warm enough due to sunlight for the land to warm...it was just enough to melt some of the snow into slushy mud before freezing once more.

Locating a small patch if cold mud and slush Reti quickly pushed the slush aside and collected some of the icy mud. This trick was fun ...but not exactly comfortable.

Carefully he smeared the dark mud on his left front and side portions of his left shoulder and parts of his mane around the sides and front of his neck.

Given the hair that wreathed his neck was fully grown in... very thick, dark and course... the mud didn't stand out as starkly as it might have otherwise. But the coated areas would be slick as hell, and he hoped it might make getting a grip on the areas harder. It had worked a time or two in the past, and Reti was curious to see how Aphrodite might respond to the situation.

He would not attack from behind. Oh no. He wanted her to see him coming. Curious to see her response, the expression on her eerily familiar features. Reti would approach head on expression relaxed and pace steady, as if he was going to draw to a proper distance and offer a polite greeting or perhaps watch whatever opponent who showed battle from the sidelines.

But oh no, hell no. That was most certainly not the plan. And she said she 'knew' the truth of him. So, lets see if that was true.

At about the nine feet away 'viewer' distance Reti would suddenly and without warning aim to shift into high gear. The smile on his face never changing or shifting, defenses snapping into place in a breath's span of time as he attempted to lunge and charg forward.

Reti's claws are extended to grip the snow slick hard packed soil of the pit. Legs bent slightly at the joints for traction and to lower his center of balance a bit into a more stable one on wintery landscape.

Reti would lead his attempted charge slightly with his left shoulder, jutting the hard forward portion out and attempting to drive it into her central upper chest/lower forward throat area. His powerful jaws would attempt to snap at her left upper shoulder, fangs aiming to try and sink into the warm flesh beneath fur.

The one lion that Aphrodite was not expecting to show up was @Reti ♔. Ears pushed forwards before falling flat on top of her head. She couldn't let her shock, surprise or anything else get rid of her defenses. Her amethyst jewels narrowed as she took in his form and took notice that there were some traits missing from his appearance. It drew out some curiosity and as he got closer, Aphrodite figured it out. He had covered himself in mud and her claws dug deeper into the ground beneath her. That would be difficult. And nasty to taste.

She waited until he was a bit closer before suddenly moving on her own, twisting her form and shifting her weight so that she was instead coming to Reti's side - granted his shoulder clipped her shoulder blade - but she would attempt to lunge towards Reti's left side with her fangs coming for his neck right where it connected to the shoulder. She would even attempt to dig her claws into his mud covered pelt.

And it seemed she would have a few surprises of her own for him!

As she suddenly moved, twisting to instead come at his left side Reti attempted to partly 'put on the breaks' so to speak by digging into the ground some with his hind claws, using his lowered center of balance to keep upright.

As his speed slowed a bit Reti would attempt to swing his hind Quarters around to his own right taking a large step with his hind legs in an effort to keep himself at a more 'head on' position with his playmate.

His tail lashed assisting the lion with his balance on the slick frost and blood soaked ground, defenses remained as firm as he could manage considering the situation!

Their shoulders clipped one another, the first 'kiss' of battle so to speak, and he knew a small bruise would form. But there would be more to come.

Her fangs would strike the thick, slick, mud coated locks of black mane which wreathed his neck and draped his shoulder. Due to his shifting position and the slathered state they did not sink deeply into his flesh, but did score the lower left front portion of his upper left shoulder as well as tear several strands of hair. The sting causing him to internally smile as adrenaline was now fully flowing.

Reti aimed to turn his head slightly to his own left and attempted to snap his jaws at the right side of her face and head , tilting his head slightly to attempt to cover his windpipe with his chin a bit while aiming to try and slice into fur and flesh with fangs. His first bite had missed but fair was fair, she had gone for a bite and he wanted his as well!

As her claws struck at his left shoulder Reti heard and felt the splat against the slickened fur, feeling the claws prick into his flesh skid slightly as they descended the front of the limb from upper leg down towards his left elbow leaving painfully stinging lacerations in their wake.

He would attempt to lift his right front leg and attempt to swipe from right to left in an attempt to drive the flat of his right front paw against her left front 'elbow' in an attempt to drive the limb to the right
while her other front leg was lifted clawing at his leg. His right front claws would attempt to curl around the back of her left 'elbow' seeking to hook into the flesh .

So he liked to play dirty. Literally. He was covered in mud and what she got with her fangs caused her to wrinkle her nose at the taste of it. Of the smell it gave off. She would have to use that the next time she went into a fight. Even if claws didn't dig into his fur the way she wanted it to but she did get some cut into it. Her claws digging into what flesh she could get to beneath the mud and dirt he had caked all over him.

She would drag her claws down to the ground and quickly replace her foot to the ground but it would stop him from his fangs digging into his jaw and part of her head before she was able to remove herself from such a close distance. She would attempt to shove the shoulder closest to his jaws, aiming to knock his jaw away from her face and head. Even when claws dug into her left elbow and she forced herself to lift up her left leg, dropping her right leg to the ground and shifting her weight. A growl forming as she would attempt to curl her wrist and aim to dig her claws into something. Anything.

Retnuh just liked to -play- in general.
Dirty. Clean. Rough. Restrained. Unhinged. Tactical. Good natured or maliciously lethal. All were different 'flavors' of fun and enjoyed almost all of them.

The method and tone of the 'game' he called called battle varied depending
on his opponent and the stakes. At the moment it was a 'playful but not gentle' game as Reti allowed bits of his chaotic and violent inner nature to flow.

Her shoulder shoved towards his face and Reti attempted to snap his jaws aiming for the top of her shoulder instead, attempting to use
the momentum of her shove to drive his fangs into the shoulder muscle.

The impact of her shoulder to his face was jarring, bruising and
stinging his nose and the front lower portion of his jaw.

Reti's swiping right front claws managed to hook, however the driving intent of the attack, unrealized - but he could adjust the plan of attack. Her descending claws managed to drag another short span of lacerations down his limb on their way down.

Afterwards he would need to ensure a proper cleaning to prevent infection. But he was in no condition to think that far ahead at the moment.

Reti attempted to jerk his right front paw back towards his own body and downward attempting to cut the flesh at the back of the limb and tear his claws free . Meanwhile her own claws would hook and dig into the flesh just bellow his right front elbow causing small rivulets of blood to bead and dribble downwards.

Instead of her shoulder making @Reti ♔ go away, it only made him use his fangs for a different reason and Aphrodite would growl with his fangs punctured themselves into her shoulder. Her jaws would open up and she would attempt to dig them into the nearby shoulder, let her inter lock them together in a battle of who could hurt the others shoulders the most. Though truthfully, Aphrodite wouldn't really hurt him, Reti was someone she looked up to whether he believed that not, she did. So when her claws dug into his flesh and his into her own, Aphrodite would just replace her paw back to the ground and wait.

His fangs sank in eliciting a sound some place between a velvety purr, growl, and muffled delighted chuckle - beyond the jarring pain sent down the lion's muzzle and the ache along the roots of his fangs, it was clear how he was feeling. What emotions were swirling. Reti was having the time of his life.

She wanted a part of him in return. He would not attempt to roll the solid swell of muscle and flesh that composed his shoulder away from her seeking jaws. Instead he let her have the bite, consider it a gift.

His thrumming growl-puur sounding once more as metaphorical fire lit up where fangs punctured - a warmth he almost embraced. It reminded the chimera of his nature - and provided an outlet to lower the mask and stretch disused truth.

When her claws failed to lash out or continue their bloody path there was a understanding that clicked behind the fire lit in tri hued eyes. The dance was over was it? Ever the ... gentleman ... the nightmare would respect her signal.

The brute widened his jaws allowing withdrawing fangs from their former warm temporary home - seeking to attempt to ever so lightly draw ivory along the lower portion of her neck, the lightest touch like fingers drawn across silk - while lifting his head and taking a fluid step backwards.

Gracefully the fallen god closed mouth with the softest of exhales. A faint 'snick' of fangs interlocking, a smile curving black moon smile pulling twin corners up at each end.

Fluidly, his eyes would seek to capture hers as Reti tilted and dipped his dark crown slightly while bending one foreleg at the elbow and sliding the other along the ground forward a bit. A aristocratic bow, for his gifted dance partner. Such a lovely time.

Straitening once more he would compliment her with a the ghost of a smirk lingering behind a touch of genuine truth as Reti spoke his parting words. "A truly enjoyable dance. Thankyou Aphrodite. Until next we meet." and unspoken 'don't die, lets do this again.' He had a true measure of affection growing for the lioness, and it drew out his deeply burried attachment capability.

Reti turned and entered the shadows that lined the Pit heading back - heading into to seclusion to clean his wounds, calm the bloodlust rushing and pounding in his head, and to savor the relaxation that followed a satisfying match.

She had lost. But there was no shame. No embarrassment when it came to losing against Reti. Her ears twisted as they removed themselves from each other. Their dance long over. Her claws missed their mark and he left her in the air. It was rather disappointing as he removed himself and she was left panting, standing there as he thanked her for the dance in his mysterious way and began to leave. She got the hint, the underlying message that she needed to keep her life so that they may have another chance to do this again. She was fine with that and as he disappeared she began to trek home herself.
