Paws carried the ebony lioness away from the Oasis and towards the center of the land. She had never been here before but that wasn't going to stop her from exploring and that's what she was doing. Finding the pit-like terrain and went down the path to find herself in the battle field. She could feel it. This was a place where blood was shed, where fangs and claws met flesh and she inhaled it all in. A rumble escaped her jaws and as she positioned herself dead center in the pit Aphrodite would call out for someone to come and spar with her. She wanted to test out her abilities once again. She had won against Harou but lost against three others. And if she was to be a mother to Brielle, Aphrodite needed to be strong.

It had been a while since her last battle, and if there was one thing she needed to remain good at, it was fighting. Particularly given her place in the Bluffs. They weren't the sort to forgive ineptitude when it came to fighting. So it was time to get things started again.

She made her way to the Pit, hearing the call from it when she was nearby. She hoped that she wouldn't be too late to accept the challenge, and indeed when she got there she found the woman standing alone. She could have (should have) announced herself, but instead she bounded her way down the slope, attempting to come up on the woman's left side from behind. She reared as she drew close, attempting to plant her paws on the other's side, her claws out enough that perhaps she would be able to find purchase there without unnecessary damage.

Forever keeping herself alert, Aphrodite was able to hear the other coming before the attack was made. Shifting and twisting herself to the left so that she may be able to defend herself - and she was seriously fucking tired of being attacked from behind damn it. A growl erupted from her jaws as she wasn't entirely fast enough to keep the claws from digging into her left side, her ribs now blossomed with fresh lacerations and blood soaking into the fur, dripping down to the ground beneath her. The woman who answered her was smaller, perhaps not by much but that gave her an advantage against Aphrodite; she might be faster. A snarl formed as Aphrodite would attempt to snap her jaws along the woman's cheek, she wasn't aiming for any purchase, just enough to cause some minor damage.

She paid no mind to that growl she pulled from the other, all too used to it from whenever she pulled such a thing in the past. She'd admit she was a bit of a little shit. So sue her.

Teeth scraped over her cheek, leaving lovely little furrows there, and a grunt left Dysnomia as her front paws dropped to the ground. She knew better than to think she was going to be able to move her opponent given that the other was larger. Not by much, but still Dys knew better. At least she was used to fighting larger opponents.

She lifted her front left paw in an attempt to smack it into Aphrodite's face, aiming for her cheek but keeping her claws in this time because, well, she didn't want to risk putting someone's eye out in a spar of all things.

Her fangs went against cheek, scraping against the fur and flesh there and Aphrodite savored in it silently. She would've fit right at home in the bluff's but alas she had chosen another sand pride instead. But that was for another time as she felt a paw smack against her cheek and where Aphrodite was expecting to feel her flesh tear there wasn't any. It was confusing but Aphrodite didn't meander on it for very long as she would twist her jaws once again and attempt to snap at the wrist, or even the toes, wherever the paw was when her jaws came for it. Aphrodite was not one to keep any of her weapons sheathed.

Her blow landed, but she now found herself in a predicament as she didn't pull her limb back fast enough and her toe beans wound up in the woman's mouth. She wondered if she would have had this problem if she had used her claws a moment ago, considering she might have been able to hook them into the woman's skin. Oh well, no way to know. What she did know was that she ought to discourage biting down and potentially squishing her toes, so now she let her claws out, attempting to prick the woman's tongue unless she was willing to let loose. It wasn't a good situation to be in, even for a spar, and she made a mental note of it for the next time she had the idea to put her paw near her opponent's face.

Jaws found the wrist but with it came the claws. They pricked at her tongue which caused Aphrodite to open her jaws and let go of the woman's paw. Shaking her head slightly before lifting up her own paw and attempt to smack the woman's shoulder. She could taste the iron of her blood where the claws had pricked her tongue. It wasn't a bad taste, Aphrodite quite liked it but now was not the time for her to dwindle on the thought of blood and how it would taste from a more willing target. This was a spar and technically, it didn't have consent and Aphrodite was not comfortable with that thought.

Dys grunted softly as her paw was released and she was free to step back, though it came with claws tearing into her shoulder from the other woman's paw. Well, that was less than ideal, but she figured she could get that patched up easily enough. The Bluffs had excellent medics, she knew that from what she had seen at past pride challenges.

Maybe we should do that again sometime, she suggested. And maybe next time I won't try to sneak up on you. Maybe. She wasn't going to make any promises. Goodness only knew she often didn't feel like behaving. Especially since her opponent wasn't of the same pride, or an allied pride. She was more likely to play nice then. Still, it had been fun, and not just because she'd won.

They both pulled away from each other, leaving their final marks on the other before @Dysnomia decided to break the silence with words. A dark smirk filed itself on Aphrodite's lips before she would chuckle, nearly out of breath from their spar. It's a good tactic when against an enemy, even if one thinks it is a cowardly move. Though Aphrodite wasn't sure who this woman was, or if she was an enemy or ally. Either way, she had learned a few things in this fight and knew now to keep herself moving physically or perhaps moving her amethyst jewels around to take in all the area. I would like to spar again some time. She would grin again before dipping her head towards the other and leaving. No name given.
