It was mentioned again at the meeting that there were open positions available to be claimed, and the woman decided that there was no more wasting time claiming what she felt was rightfully hers. Valaine had already shown Louve that she was hungry, perhaps not for lion meat, but for power. She would show them today that she meant business.

Choosing a flat land within the mountains, she bellowed an invitation - both to fight and to watch - her ascension from a regular member in this pride to a respected one. Flexing her muscles and stretching, she waited for her challenger to arrive, setting her blue eyes on everyone that either passed by or settled in to watch.

Well, she just had to open her big mouth and mention her plans. Apparently some deity had chosen to actually listen for once. Not that she actually called out the challenge herself. But answering it counted, right?

The near colossal lioness came leaping across crags and against rocks in a surprisingly graceful display of parkour as she made her way towards the location the challenger had chosen. She soon saw her and her fur rose on the back of her neck. Picking up speed, she came charging from behind like a freight train, leaping at the last second and practically soaring over @Valaine, spinning her landing and sliding to a stop across from her with a snarl, fangs bared. The older lioness had called for a challenge for rank and she answered. "It seems we both want the same thing," the scarred lioness growled, claws slowly scraping against stone.

Obsidiana had been exploring the rocky lands of the Bluffs with quiet expression and just wishing to find something to do. She was growing and so did her innate proactivity, she needed to move, to do things. She didn't want to stay idle and wait for life to go own without her. So she was into such search for activity when she heard the calls, someone was calling for a fight. Curious as cubs came the dark coated cub rushed to where it came from, finding a grey lioness and then one of bronze hairs. And the later didn't seem too happy, she rose an eyebrow. She lied down, maybe these two would bring the entertainment she was looking for today. And maybe, just maybe she could learn a thing or two. +5 Observe a fight

1 year, no perks


The challenge was made, he moved from his den, albeit slower than normal. He didn’t really care who won this challenge, it was only for rank and he already knew who had made it, the lady that had said so at the pride meeting. She was older than he, far more experienced, he had no desire to try to fight her for it. Not yet. Thus, he made sure he dragged his paws, giving other more greedy or ambitious members to rise and fight her.

When he arrived, he was relieved to find @Etaine and @Verlaine fighting for the rank. To the side lay a cub, he used to be shocked when others had the same lack of color to their pelt, but here? He was becoming used to it. He flicked an ear dismissively to the cub and plopped down on the complete other side of the battle. Resting in the shadows with his head on his paws he watched the fight with a lack of interest, he was there. He would observe and learn the outcome but he did so with what he hoped looked like boredom. He should care, but...he found his typical interest in things gone lately.

The fact that her challenger had literally jumped over her put Valaine on edge. Her own hackles stood on edge as a shadow followed the length of her body, and her muscles tensed as the other (Etain) landed smoothly someways off, but close enough to be a threat. All of that was unnecessary, and she really wanted to sink her fangs into this female.

"Too bad for you," Valaine growled, quickly closing the distance now. There was no way this scarred lioness was going to win against her. Valaine had been itching for a fight for a while, and she'd take all of that out on her now.

When she had closed enough distance, Valaine attempted to hook her claws into the back of Etain's neck, with the intent to pull her closer so that she could also attempt to bite somewhere near her neck area.

Sharp claws scraped against stone, a twitch in her floppy ears. Sure, compared to the other she was just a girl. Larger, yes, but still just a girl. Maybe she'd have even been adorable with those floppy ears, but the way her ears laced back against her skull easily revealed that despite her looks, she wasn't all that adorable. This was what she was waiting for. A fight. And while she was eager to prove herself to claim a rank for herself, even if she didn't win, she'd fight.

No more words came from her and the pale furred, star speckled girl met the older lioness' approach with force. Claws dug into her neck, drawing a growl from bared fangs, but she used her weight to push into her while her fangs aimed for the older one's neck with no regard for how the woman's fangs were already connecting to her fur. If successful in sinking her own fangs into the darker woman's neck, she sought to shake her viciously as if to rip out a piece of her neck.

Valaine's claws and teeth made purchase, and with her claws hooked into the back of her opponent's neck, she could drag the woman forward with her strength. For the moment, she was content with keeping her right where she was as her fangs found their mark at the base of Etain's neck.

Though, it was only a second before Etain seemed to mirror Valaine's plans, and she felt the piercing pain of her opponent's teeth finding purchase at the side of her own neck - thankfully grabbing hold of mostly scruff - as she began to thrash her head back and forth. The skin pulled uncomfortably, and the pain surged up to the base of her skull. Though, it was not enough to throw the Rike female off her course. Valaine gnashed her teeth, digging her bite deeper into the girl's skin, hoping to squeeze and cause pain.

Valaine released the hold she had on the girl's shoulder area with her claws, though hooked them and sought to drag them down her left-side shoulder to leave deep lacerations in their wake - a parting gift, if you will.

Curiosity was what ended up driving Obsidiana towards the fight these two strangers were having. Young but very perseptive the dark coated cub wanted to observe, interested in seeing how the grown ups fought. Maybe she could learn a thing or two, feeling confident enough to watch without risk. Calm expression adorned her splotched face as quietly she started to sharpen her claws, but just out of repeating what she had seen her mother do and other grownups, they did it and she wanted to do it too. She observed the fight. Paying a lot of attention. She had no preference of who she wanted to support; she didnt know them. So she stood here in a neutral position. +5 Observe a fight +5 Sharpen your claws

Muffled hisses and snarls were drawn from her as she felt the fangs sink deeper into her skin. It stung and she knew she'd need a lot of help with it later. But her mind didn't quite think of her strange condition. Her only focus was on what was happening in this very moment. Of course it was, in the end, only a fight among pridemates to earn a position and not a fight to the death. But she was intent on not holding back. Holding back, at least to her, was weakness and even if she would lose this fight, she still wanted to show that she would give her all in anything.

When the claws dug into her skin, she shifted her weight ever so slightly. Clenching her jaw, she sought to dig her fangs deeper into the older woman's neck before now using her full weight to thrash to try and throw her to the ground while at the same time aiming a forceful smack to the side of her face to disorient her.

A call for a little mischief among their own was a novel experience for her. Josephine sprinted there ready to witness the spectacle. The lioness showdown, though, seemed like a mere warm-up compared to the epic tales spun by her mother and sisters. She knew a lion's veins held more blood than what these two were extracting. The girl licked her lips, eyes fixed on their claws sinking into flesh. The prospect of drawing someone else's blood, someone outside her own sibling skirmishes, thrilled her. Fed up with familial brawls, her amber gaze scanned and locked onto @Obsidiana. Care to spice things up in a fight? A growl of excitement escaped her as she imagined the dark maiden joining the fray.
