She had been shocked when she woke up this morning to see the land outside of the den covered in a thick blanket of snow. For a moment she thought she had slept for months. The cubs had been born in the spring and were only a few months old. It didn't make sense that the sudden flurries had laid claim to the land this early. She had snuck out briefly to investigate, finding all of the territory covered much to her surprise. It stretched out to rest of Amaryllis as far as she could see from one of the ridges. While Icefang was not particularly fond at the idea that her little ones would have to traverse this weird phenomenon, she decided to take it as a potential lesson and experience for them.

When she had returned to the den she had issued a call to all of the cubs including Arcania and Temero to lead them to one of the many brooks that traveled through the mountains. The small stream of water had frozen from the rapid temperature change and Icefang moves to instinctively slam a paw down onto the ice, breaking enough to allow the cubs to drink their fill. "Drink," she commands to the younger ones before glancing around the area. "The white, soft stuff under your paws is called snow. It should not be here for many more months. It can only hurt you if you get too cold or are buried underneath it." In a playful manner she would swat the powdery substance at the rest of the group, aiming to coat anyone who was in the way. "It is also fun to throw at others."

This was strange, and she loved it. Questions her mouth could not form buzzed about her pretty skull. With each step she studies the strange, fluffy substance. How it's cold sensation travels from law to bone, up her arm. A shiver. Before Mother even brings them to the stream, the babe has already tasted the cold sky water. Its frozen, crunchy texture was a welcome surprise.

The water is frigid too, so cold it makes her cough. Obsidian eyes turn towards @Icefang ♔, curiously, before she too tries to press the iridescent sheet down. Her paws slip, and her face smacks against the frozen surface enough to warrant a faint, subtle cry. that hurt

But she does it again, pressing with both paws, till it begins to crack and the water from below oozes onto it. It's just as cold, if not colder than the snow Mother speaks of. And, you could throw it? Well, the fluff. Naza wanted to throw the ice instead.

He listened to @Icefang ♔, having noticed the scents of the others. @Nazara was there, he supposed. The dark child listened to his mother as she made a sound that was a loud crack! to his ears. and they twitched towards the source of the sound. She continued, speaking of 'drink and he would stamp his foot only to find his usual way of getting around was... useless.

A faint twist of his lips as he felt his paw shift on the cold of the snow. Once more, he would lift his leg and stamp it - expecting a different outcome.. but finding the same result. That was inconvenient, and something that also confused him. His mother said 'white' what was white? Was it the cold stuff under his paw? He would lower his head and try to sniff at the 'white' only to find his nose suddenly accosted by frozen flakes.

She was admittedly a bit cranky about the snow that was currently covering her garden, that wasn't supposed to be there now. She'd seen all the signs that it was time for planting, and yet...

Nothing to be done about it, unfortunately. She'd just have to hope the plants survived, or else start over again once the frost cleared. Either way, there was better uses of her time. Like this teaching endeavor with her youngest siblings. It was more for their sake than her son's, at least at the moment, but she was hardly opposed to spending time with family.

Though that sentiment was put to the test as she turned her head and got a facefull of snow from @Icefang ♔. Pfft, she snorted to clear her nose, followed up by a brrrrrr as she shook herself, sending the snow up into the air where it slowly drifted back down. Mother is quite right about that, she agreed, watching as the cubs began to discover that on their own.

It was nice to get out and wander around the pride with his... younger aunts and uncle. Okay that part was a bit weird, but eh. Family was family, and he didn't have nearly as much family within the pride as others within it did, so he was more happy for what he did have.

He kept to the rear of the parade, both to keep an eye on the little ones and to stay out of reach of both Icefang and Arcania, because he wasn't sure when either of them might turn it into a lesson for him of some sort. Though he began to think that might not happen as Icefang whipped snow directly at his mother, some of it drifting past her to fall at his paws.

His eyes widened, fully expecting fur to start flying, but instead his mother went with it and shook it off with amusement. He squinted up at the flakes as they drifted slowly down, a soft smile spreading across his features. Huh, maybe they could have some fun in this family.

Obsi had been doing well despite sometimes feeling different from her siblings; she was yet too young to really have a deep thought on it. But she felt bigger than them, as if she was not born the same day they did. But until now, she had let her young brain cut off anything too complicated for her brain to process.

She followed from behind, as she was not sure what to do. Yet she finally made her mind and soon caught up with her family, and as her mother explained, she inspected the water and gave it a taste, which was colder than anything she had tried before.

But before she processed it she found herself covered with the white stuff. The "snow" as her mom called it as. It felt weird, but funny. Smiling, she tried to repeat her mother's actions by trying to kick some of it with her front paw towards the red cub(@Temero) laughing a bit.

The others followed in line behind her as they reached the stream. She watches as her daughter attempts the same maneuver only to injure her face as she slips and crashes down into the ice. She does not move to help, only nods her approval when @Nazara attempts it again using both paws this time to succeed. "Once you are larger, it will be easier. Good job," she compliments as her attention turns to @Thruum stamping his paws on the ground. It was a trait she had noticed almost immediately when the cubs had opened their eyes and began to walk. Icefang had been suspicious that her son was blind as he demonstrated some of the odd traits that Renozuri did to move around. However, instead of replying on vocals Thruum had been insistent on using his paws. Perhaps that would change with time. She had also noticed that he was rather quiet out of her bunch, likely because he was not experiencing things the same way.

Her pawful of snow hit its mark as Arcania shakes off the powder, Icefang smirking at the red lioness's reaction. In a similar fashion, @Obsidiana throws some of the snow at @Temero and in the height of the moment, Icefang would launch herself at the other lioness in an attempt to tackle @Arcania ♔ to the ground. She was happy to finally be surrounded by family rather than all the Dieudonne they slept by each night. Hopefully her plans would come to fruition and they would all be leaving the Bluffs behind to stake a claim to their own territory. "Pick an opponent," she commands to the cubs "The losers have to sleep in the cold tonight!" Of course she didn't really mean it. The cold would be too much for any of the cubs to survive without Icefang or Arcania to keep them warm. Though Icefang always liked to add a little bit of spice and incentive when it came to winning.

Naza watched curiously as Mother flung this substance called snow at the others. It seemed...almost as if she were enjoying it, like it was fun. But where was the bone crunch? The spill of blood upon fresh powder?

The voice in her head demanded she taste of it, even though the girl child had yet to fully comprehend.

A shake of her pretty skull, Nazara pushes those weird, strange thoughts away. She wanted to play, to have fun! Awkwardly she tries to shove snow skyward to the adults. A little mew erupts from her as if she were a mighty thing, despite its calm and cool sound. "Me too!" she demands, this time finding a chunk of broken ice small enough for teeth to grab. She does her best to hurl it at @Temero, knowing it would likely fall mere inches from her tiny body.

Thruum felt his ear twitch when @Icefang ♔ spoke of picking an opponent and he would shift his sightless gaze towards her with an expression of wry amusement. Uhhh..huh. It was when he heard the battlecry of his twin that he would follow her with his head - or more accurately, follow the way she moved, the sound of her voice as she darted towards the other void in the air current.

The dark child remained where he was, choosing not to partake in the festivities as he was a little uncertain - given the unfamiliar footing. Not that Thruum would EVER admit such things...

I like the way they all scream

It was almost odd to her, watching her younger siblings playing in the snow. She'd missed the typical family outings in her childhood, but she'd never stopped to think of what could have been before now. She was, unfortunately, a bit old to live vicariously through her younger siblings, but she could at least watch them enjoy themselves before they too had to become serious.

Her pupils dilated as Icefang lunged at her, a feral grin on her features even as she was bowled over into the snow. She cackled with delight as Icefang urged the children on, pushing against the snowy woman in an attempt to get a grip on her so they could properly wrestle. Now this was something she was experienced with.
