He moves with the grace of a bull, large paws hitting the ground in heavy steps. With the arrival of his cubs coming soon, Arkyn had been taking to exploring deeper into Amaryllis and wanting to find things of use for Csitri while she stayed in the Hollows; a fur here, some nice looking stones there. One might say he was nesting, but if you mentioned it directly to his face well... Who knew what would happen.

He'd stopped by a wide tree trunk and was sniffing the air to see if anything of intrigue popped out at him. Yellow eyes glance around, taking in his immediate surroundings while his ears twisted and twitched with the cacophony of animals that were around him - both above and ground level. His presence may have spooked them, causing for them to alert the others of his arrival. "You sound just like my dad," he mutters lowly to no one, an eye roll given with his words. As much as he loved visiting his spectral father, sometimes it was so hard to get him to shut up.

If it wasn't @Arkyn who disrupted the wildlife, it may have very well been Dio who was also walking through the forest. Birds and small creatures near her maneuvered away, not wanting to become an easy snack. Not that she was looking. Her own path began to draw nearer to Arkyn and she ended up approaching vaguely at a right angle to the peach hued lion. She paused upon first seeing him- and then let rumble out a series of short, soft chuff noises in his direction. She hadn't seen him around here before, part of her worried it might be a new Brook lion, but part of her was immensely curious and looking for company, wondering what he was doing around this large tree._{CODE | BACKGROUND | ART BY MUULAND}

The breezes carries with it a scent of another just as the chuffs follow. It causes for Arkyn's skull to swing in the direction the two were coming from, yellow eyes landing upon the abyss woman. He stares at her for several long moments, taking in her rather unique appearance, before letting out a short grunt. "Birds annoying you, too?" Deep voice carries toward the lioness before he pivots and begins to take a couple of paw steps in her direction. He keeps his movements slow and cautious; he didn't have anything to be afraid of, but he wasn't particularly in the mood to have to fight another - especially a woman.

The imposingly large lion turns and takes a few steps towards her. She stops any of her own forward momentum and lets @Arkyn get as close as he feels comfortabe and wants to get to her. Dio's teal eyes sweep along his striped and decorated body, down one side and back up the other to his face. No, not today at least. She said with a slight, gentle and calm smile. Diomedeidae Valour. She said as greeting, swiping a paw to brush on her chest to indicate this was her name. Are you from around here? Well it seemed as thought one of them weren't getting thoroughly irritated with the feathered nuisances. He watches as she uses a paw to gesture toward her while she introduces herself, a brow rising slightly at her last name. "Valour?" He repeats, a deep yet soft humming sounding in his throat before Arkyn continued. "My aunt is married to a Valour - Talisa."

Another pause as he rolls a shoulder, ears twitching and trying to drown out the birds. "Looks like we're related on some level." It was far and few between that the Viking meets any of his family, keeping the title of estranged nephew and cousin. After his mother had died he saw no point in sticking with her family - Avaneira didn't care enough to stay so why should he expect the rest of them to? Morrigan, though, seemed to be the exception, one that he was secretly happy for. "Arkyn Brynmawr." He finally introduces himself, giving @Diomedeidae a curt nod of his maw. "Do you reside in Vermeda?" He knew the Brook had been overthrown and was simply curious to know if she decided to stick it out because it was of native land.

Morrigan? Dio knew both Morrigan and Talisa kept more than one mate and were not exclusive to each other. But when @Arkyn mentioned someone married to Talisa of course her first thought was the guardian Queen, strong and powerful. It was a mental sight that most closely mirrored the large and strong lion before her. And also the one closest to Dio's own heart. Talisa is my Aunt, my fathers are Aquila and Caligula.

That made them- without thinking too hard- some degree of cousins? The specifics didn't matter. They were family, and the realization seemed to brighten up Dio's face. At least until Vermeda is brought up, at which she frowns deeply and shakes her head no. I left the Brook young to live with my Aunts in the Summit. And then I left altogether for awhile. And, as it was, zero reason to go back right now. I'm living as a rogue with my father Caligula for now.

Arkyn gives a nod as she mentions Morrigan, a silent confirmation to her question. It had been such a long time since the beast had come across any family, and finding a cousin on some level made him wonder just how small Amaryllis was despite it being so big. "I think I've heard their names before." Arkyn wasn't embarrassed that he kept himself out of familial ongoings, but he was more than sure that he'd heard of at least Aquila - even if it were in passing.

@Diomedeida goes on to explain that she had left the brook and headed to Illyria for a little while before deciding to take on the rogue life with one of her fathers. He could see the appeal of living on your own, for the Viking had been doing it basically his whole life. And while he did wish to rule his own pride one day, he knew he would stay a rogue until that day came to fruition. "Being a rogue has its perks," he begins, lips twitching to curl into a subtle grin. "I've been a rogue for a very long time now."

Even if he doesn't seem to clearly remember or know her fathers personally Dio did find an emotional boon come just from the small bit @Arkyn might know. He might have heard of them. For her wandering absent father especially that hit her heart. You might have seen him too, if you saw an incredibly grumpy looking greying old man with a very warm and loving partner. She said with a playful grin, heart thoughts thrown up into the sky for her parents.

I wandered alone, more or less, all the while I was gone. And now since living here it's just been me and my father. Rogue by virtue of not settling down. Or rogue by choice. Two parts of one whole reality and she's experienced them both. I don't mind it much either. It's never stopped her from doing what she wanted to do or seeing what she wanted to go see. And now it did not even stop her from seeing her family still. What is your favorite perk about it?

Arkyn knew that the rogue life wasn't for every lion. Many lions thrived on the sole fact of having others around them for one thing or another. Other times the prides seem to be swarming with many family members, giving them a reason to stay in a pride. But Arkyn? Unless he was ruling, no pride would suit him. "What's my favorite perk about being a rogue?" He voices out her question, allowing for his mind to think while a deep hum vibrated in his chest. "Probably the freedom. Not having to follow a set of rules or guidelines is something I don't usually care for." He would listen, sure, but did he enjoy it? Absolutely not. So why subjectify him to something he didn't like?

"With being a rogue, you need to have your wits about you at all times," Arkyn goes on, now explaining to @Diomedeidae the more important things about stag life. "Many lions are claim happy here, so if they see a lioness not bound to a pride, they will claim you. Make sure you fight for your freedom if that happens." He pauses, ears flicking while eyes watched the lioness' face for any reaction. "Or you can try to find me and I will help." He may not be able to do much, but to Arkyn that would never stop him.

"Well there is one person who's rules you have to follow." She both glances down and lifts a paw to point towards his heart, his chest. Your own rules, your morals. "I think that's my favorite part of living as a rogue, you can hear yourself so much clearer." She was not opposed to following rules, she'd be plenty happy in a pride as well as how she lived now. But hse had never felt so in tune with herself, and her immediate family in her father, as she did while it was just them. When you had no leader to follow you knew yourself better than you ever could. Because that is the only person you have to answer to in the end.

He warns her of the dangers of being claimed and she smiled, chuckling softly to herself for a second. "You sound like my father, stop I don't like it." Dio teased. Grateful for the advice, even more grateful for his offer to help her out if things turned sour."I've been fine so far. If Maua should will it to happen I would be curious to see why they were steering my life down such a path."
