She felt the force of her claws slamming into Renfri's neck, and a feeling of pleasure flowed through her. She would make her pay for every single thing these bastards had done to their family. The only time she would stop fighting to make them pay would be when she was 6 feet under the ground. They had caused so much suffering to those she had vowed to protect, and they would pay.

Teeth scraped along the smaller lioness's face, and she was annoyed that she didn't manage to get a grip on the lioness. She wasn't able to move out of the way quickly enough, and Renfri's claws landed on her face - narrowly missing her eye. A savage snarl escaped the larger lioness, and she would start attacking even more viciously. Lifting her front left paw off the ground, she aimed to rake and dig her claws deeply into Renfri's front right leg - same move that plum bastard had pulled on her when he came for the Brook. Simultaneously, she would attempt to shove her right shoulder forward in an attempt to hopefully knock the smaller lioness on the ground.

he's out exploring in the middle of a storm, likely not karsa's smartest idea but a little water had never killed anyone. or at least, anyone that he knew. what the boy is definitely not expecting, is to hear a roar rising up through the rumbling of thunder and the hard slap of rain against the earth. this isn't the first of these roars that karsa has heard, but it is the first that he is close enough to get to before it ends.

the boy's paws turn towards vermeda, though he pauses in several areas to roll in mud, caking the liquid dirt against his fur until only a few splotches of red and pink are visible on his face. smelling like nothing but rained-on earth and wet, decaying leaves, karsa is satisfied enough to start towards the borders in earnest. he slinks in the shadows, staying low to the ground and sinking into a patch of fragrant herbs within a large and prickly thicket, which would mask his scent further. belatedly, he notes it smells vaguely like some of the medicinal stash that his aunt keeps in the family's cave. good to know this was here, useful in case his aunt ever needed more of it and close enough to the border that it would be easy to access.

just off to his side, karsa notes that the vegetation thins out and then dips into what looks like a bank that leads to the brook. having played in the portion that flowed through the neutral territory, the landmark helps him orient himself on this strange, new territory. situated securely in the thicket, he peers out from between the leaves at the fight ongoing at the border, noting that it was two women who were embroiled in battle. around them, a few other scuffles had broken out, including one for a cub and a couple between cubs. interesting.

there is a thirst know what's going on in the valley, who rules what prides and which families are at each other's throats. when the girl finds herself close to another challenge, she slinks into vermeda brook, her small size aiding her in remaining undetected as she creeps closer and closer to the fighting pair. with the water source so close by, the land is lush and mags is able to make it most of the way to the fight by just remaining hidden in the towering grasses. after finding a cluster of huge pine trees just at the border, she darts for it and hunkers down against the bark as the rain pelts down hard against the ground, watching as the challenger almost takes a set of claws to the eye, making magdalena wince in her hidden spot - ouch. the monarch here doesn't look like she's faring too much better with claw marks down her chest.

various smells hit her nose, the crisp scent of the mountains cutting through the boggy smell of rain and with it, the same scent as the one on the borders - vermeda. she assumes these are the two factions at odds here and as her eyes settle on the two women fighting, she hears someone calling out about the challenger's mother forfeiting her life and magdalena's ears perk up, pushing forward to hear more. a cub speaks up not long after, explaining to another. the end of a truce, the beginning of a war. it seems the fervor of the main battle has sent sparks throughout the other observers as various fights break out around the makeshift ring.

She lingers, just shy of the borders. The press of the storm and the swelling crowd puts her on edge; she is uneasy here, surrounded by so many strangers. Angry ones, at that. She stays low and sticks to the thick ring of pines, toes just brushing the border but not quite stepping over. Here in the dark of the night, though, she doubts such a distinction will matter.

Though she tries to stay out of view, moonlight eyes are alert. Intent. There are things to learn here if she can manage and she is loathe to let the opportunity pass her by. From here she can see a swarm of cubs, all blue and black and purple -- galaxy spotted, and her heart twists at the sight. Someone here has populated; someone here is blessed. that, and the thick pines she loiters near are worth the trip. Nuggets of information she files away happily, even as her expression remains stoic.

The storm had kept her awake and with it came the rumbling promise of another challenge. Reine couldn't sleep and didn't want too anyways. Her own curiosity led her towards the Brook, a terrain she could vividly remember from her childhood. She had visited here frequently as a cub before she had gone off on her own adventures, and to see that it was being fought for again sent a whirlwind of emotions through her. The tall lioness would move through the mud to find a seat towards the back of the gathering. With her imposing height it was still possible to have a great view over the heads of the others gathered. She wasn't surprised to see @Cassandra fighting for the land, she had every right to reclaim it. Her attention shifts to see a man practically pummeling a woman on the sidelines over a cub and her ears lace back, irritation slicing through her. She stayed rooted where she was though, her main focus being that of Cassandra, and should she need any assistance after the fact, she'd be there.

The rain had been coming down for hours now and Sunder stood vigil at her den, her cubs already long since asleep. Her blue eyes watched the ocean as it tossed and turned, the waves an angry torrent as the rain continued to assail down from the heavens. She contemplated leaving the Cove for some time, not wanting to leave the cubs with Tapessa again, but eventually when @Kvare did not come home it led the woman to worrying. Considering everything that happened with her first husband it was only natural for her to have some reservations when Kvare didn't return. Reluctantly she would end up leaving the cubs with their auntie, promising to be back soon before she would make her way out into the night.

The mud and muck were just an additional form of concealment as she moved towards the Brook. The hum of a challenge was vibrating through the air and Sunder made sure to splash as much mud and water up onto her fur as possible to further conceal herself. She would move towards the outskirts of the Brook before gradually slinking her way inward. She kept her frame low to the ground, only stopping to hide within a cluster of bushes. Her gaze narrows to land on her husband fighting an unfamiliar woman, two small cubs nearby. Her brows knit together, uncertain what that was all about but she was sure she'd get the details later. Meanwhile her attention would move towards the main event as the two women fight over the land. Naturally Sunder was rooting for @Cassandra as she was @Morrigan's daughter, it was only right to do so. She hunkers down lower, attempting to draw as little attention to herself, for now.

Razvan was a restless explorer, and perhaps he should not have come all this way on his own, to an event where tensions were already running high. But a prince had to learn about the world somehow, and what better place to pick up on some fighting moves than a place where real fights were going on? It was late, and if his parents found him missing from the Hallows this late he was sure there would be some explaining he had to do later, but as he crept up on the borders of the Brook and laid eyes on the several fights taking place around him, all his worries faded into the background. He would deal with consequences later.

He paw made a forceful connection with Cassandra’s face, but could only feel disappointed she didn’t manage to gouge an eye out in the process. The blood welling from the newly opened wounds on her face was impeding her vision, the gashed deep and wide, but she wouldn’t let it slow her down. Not yet at least. Claws dug into her right forelimb and she bit down on the urge to let out a hiss of pain, not wanting to give the other bitch the satisfaction. She’d have a hell of a time moving around for a while after this fight having such an injury on the only remaining limb on her right side, but again, she had no time to think about it. Cassandra was slamming into her shoulder, and the force of it was almost enough to knock her off her paws, but she managed to catch herself before fully hitting the ground, and stumbled to the side a few paces to try and catch up to the momentum from the hit. And just like that. More and more violence. Light steps carried her into the territory itself, a graceful dance. Though there was an expression of delight on her features, in those dark eyes. "Folt ssissilluk," the silken shadow trilled, her voice carrying that same delight that was so unsettlingly evident on her face.

More and more did she dance along the border, dark eyes darting to each of the bloody fights. Glorious. Oh glorious carnage. Such delighted the Herald all the more. Trills, much like laughter, slipped past her dark lips as she moved. But then her gaze landed on something oh so intriguing. And just like that, her attention was drawn from the fights, her slender frame slowly slinking towards the cub she'd spotted.

"Now what would bring such a delicious little creature like you to such a place?" The Herald purred as she stalked towards @Razvan with an unsettling grin on her lips, her slender frame brushing against trees to cover herself ever so slightly more with the scent. For all intents and purposes, she smelled like Vermeda and intended for it to stay that way.

from his hiding position, karsa has a decent view of most of the people present at the challenge, and quickly catches the entrance of his brother on the scene. at first he's a little concerned that razvan hasn't chosen to attend the challenge more sneakily, but with karsa not far away, he's satisfied in his ability to respond quickly should anything go wrong. as another blur of movement catches his attention, the boy's head swivels to rest on the fight again, watching as renfri lunges to attempt an attack on cassandra's rear leg. by the time his attention flip;s to razvan, a woman that karsa doesn't recognize has joined him and the boy almost immediately decides he doesn't like the way she's looking at his brother. elongated claws curl into the patch of herbs below, threatening to tear at the roots.
