Prompt: A lone gerenuk is busy stretching its neck to new heights in a futile attempt to reach the greenest fronds at the top of an Oasis palm tree.

It would prove a fatal mistake, Sedona was sure. The tiny huntress prowled through the oasis sands in a hunter's crouch, her mercury gaze fastened on the craning gerenuk with deadly precision. It was a meager bit of prey, sure, but that did not mean the little cat would turn her nose up at it. No, they needed every morsel – especially with fewer bodies to help aid in the hunt.

She glanced briefly around her to see if others might gather, twitching her bobbed tail and flattening her ears against her skull. Only when she was satisfied with their preparations and positioning would she surge forward in eager pursuit.

The scent of gerenuk hung in the air, and to be honest- Eskel didn't really want to bother. For a growing pride, it wasn't much of a meal, and yet... his paws carried him along the sands towards the beast. It was too easy of a meal to let it slip away, and as he neared, he spied a very small female- and for a second he eyed her, noting the comical side of this. She was very small, he was very large and truthfully- he thought between the two of them, they would be all that was needed to bring a idiotic gerenuk down, and yet, he nods in her direction a silent greeting as he waits to see whom else shows.

It was an odd scent that causes for Saladin to follow it. It smelled delicious, and he could only assume it was something edible - he hoped, anyways. Maroon and olive hued eyes searched around him with a rather excited gleam in them, nose to the air as he sniffed and sniffed. Every now and then he would stop to figure out which direction the scent was wafting from, getting turned around a time or two before he seemed to have finally gotten to the cause.

His attention shifts from the long necked gazelle to look over at @Sedona and @Eskel. Trying to practice his stalking, Saladin would lower his belly to the sand and begin to move forward slowly, tail twitching behind him while he moved toward the Sovereign. "What is that thing?" He'd ask her in a whisper once close enough, focus now going back to the Gerenuk and observing it some more.

Feeling lonely wasn't a good feeling, and even though she still had at least Orion around it didn't help much when she rarely saw him. So, to keep herself somewhat entertained, Oriana began to walk along the borders that separated Andal from the neutral lands of Amaryllis. She would take in the many scents that were along the borders, some fresh and some old, while also stopping to observe where their scent markers were located. She had thoughts of marking them herself, but then the bravery that was there was gone just as fast when her mind began to formulate thoughts on what if she got into trouble for doing another's job - a ranked members job.

The Miroslav would continue to do this until another scent caught her attention, one that was mixed with a couple of other pride member scents. A brow rises over indigo eyes and the almost yearling begins to trot toward where the smells were coming from. It wouldn't take her too long to arrive, noticing the Sovereign and another adult before looking over at Saladin. She'd seem him around, and it seemed as though his parents had taken off, but she wasn't going to ask why. She slowly pads toward the trio, getting there just as the cub asks @Sedona what the creature was that was before them. "How do you take that down with those horns?" Sure, Oriana had seen these bodies in their cache, but she hadn't even seen a takedown before and her body was beginning to vibrate at the thought.

Zelda had trailed the beast for a bit of the ways around the oasis borders, following in its tracks with a hungry stomach. Rumbling softly as it began to skirt inwards, its hoof marks in the sand were obvious. At the very least, it was not something as small as a rabbit or a mouse but larger enough to at least satiate a belly or three. It's scent was no less obvious as its fur was certainly melded with the trees but more than that, it seemed that it had spent a fair amount of time in the oasis sands as of late and certainly had gathered that, too. So Zelda waited in line of sight of the others for a plan of attack, knowing that her time here was likely limited (one way or another).

1 yr, no bonus When an Andalian in need calls, Super Sawyer answers! The freckled yearling was more than eager to join in her on her first official hunt, and traipsed happily after all the other lions, coming up against @Eskel ‘s ginormous side. “What’re we hunting?” She whispers, clearly giddy with the mission impossible vibe they had going on. A cheshire smile dangles from her lips, as she unsuccessfully attempts to be professional. It seemed that the to-go in question was a strange long-necked deer with a hankering for juicy palm leaves. Sawyer couldn’t imagine anything more tummy-turning than those thick, dry leaves that she sometimes played with (though, if anyone asks, she wasn’t playing she was “practicing”). Her ears flick over towards the tiny Andalian queen, awaiting her next words with baited breath. Surely, hunting could be something she was good at. Maybe she’ll finally get her cutie mark! [OOC: 5 years no bonuses] The scent of something had drawn the druid from her den. Kireena made her way - following the wafting scent as it drifted on the wind. Along with that scent, she smelled other Andallan's - and she would be lying if she said she wasn't interested in meeting those of her pride. Thus far, she'd met very few. Slinking to the ground as much as her bulk would allow, the red giant would seek to come on the opposite side of the gathering hunting party. She knew her strengths when it came to such things - she was NOT a chaser. Oh, no.. With her thicc thighs, the lioness much preferred to lie in wait and ambush the creatures fleeing for their lives. So she would shift - ensure she remained downwind of the beast, but pop her head up just enough that some of the others might see her there and know she wasn't hunting them... Still, if she made a noise or a sound from here - it would be obvious to the creature who had sealed its fate by coming here that it's meat was on the menu - and might prematurely send it running. So instead, she hunkered down to wait, eyes flickering between their prey - and the lions gathered on the opposite side - waiting for someone to take the lead.

Iofiel was getting up there in age but he had gotten over the cold that he had. Because of that he forced himself to leave behind his comfortable hollow in the sand to go and help with the hunt.

It seemed there wasn't much to be found but there were enough able bodies about for what was there. That was good. The days in the desert were certain to get harsher and so they would need everything that they could get. Besides, the Lead Medic was here should any end up over exerting themselves in such an extreme climate. He would be here to offer aide in any way possible. What mattered most to him was the survival of everyone occupying the desert no matter what their allegiance may be.
