Tragically, or perhaps not, the persistent flicker of his eyes towards the shadows does not summon up even the faintest glimpse of a chimeric coat. How foolish, to expect that to change with every fleeting glance.

Eventually, it dawns upon him that quite some time has passed, and he forcefully steers the full brunt of his attention back to the 'spectacle' at hand. He expects that there should be some blood and fur flying for the pride's sake right now, but still he finds himself waiting. And waiting. Waiting.

No one comes to answer the challenger.

The Prince's nostrils flare with a surprised huff of breath, and he just barely manages to bite down on the disbelieving laugh that threatens to blow his cover. So the rulers of Vermeda couldn't even be bothered to show up and protect their crown? Now, that was a twist he wouldn't have predicted!

The new King - Lachesis Peitho - gives his speech without dispute, and Hubert's verdant gaze soon wanders to the rest of those gathered, intrigued to see the reactions. He skips past the kerfuffle involving the Plains King and a literal child with a quiet snicker, his attention instead zeroing in on Amara. One of Vater's oldest allies...who was currently offering the former residents of the Brook safe passage to the Summit.

Well, wasn't that incredibly interesting?

An act of mercy? Tsk. Maybe it was ridiculous to expect anything from a woman ruler. The Prince turns away with a curl of his lip, all too eager suddenly to ensure that Vater and his kin were aware of exactly how their so-called friends behaved when they thought the Mire wasn't watching.

And later? Later, perhaps, he will return, to find out what had become of her.

So much had been happening. The raid, and now this? He wondered where the original leaders had gone. It seemed that they had all abandoned their duties. A sigh left his lips, feeling rather disappointed. The Brook had seemed so promising but now it had fallen to the paws of this strange man named Lachesis.

He enjoyed his home though.

I will stay, he said, speaking directly to @Lachesis. Besides, maybe this man was a better leader than the one prior. He remembered how Cassandra had been given complaints and how she never even responded to them. And now Aquila was completely gone. Perhaps they weren't so powerful after all.

He would turn then, leaving to return to his den.

Vermeda was no more. The Valour stronghold was gone. Aquila was gone. What was left for him now? There was family here still. He couldn't just leave his children behind. Aquila had gone to seek out the lost so he had to remained for those that were still here. But not in the Brook. The tempered peace had been entirely broken now.

The vultures had swooped in and snatched up their home. Where was he to go now? He had no idea. But he couldn't stay here. There would no longer be peace in the lands.

"I do not believe in fighting so I feel I will no longer be welcomed here. I will take my leave." There no longer seemed to be a safe place for a pacifist any longer. He was getting too old for constant war and battling. He was too old for constant turnover in leadership. He supposed he would just have to settle on his own once again.

But right now there was one child of his that he could take with him. He couldn't force Castus or Elysian to come but he could take Cordi. He could take her somewhere that the family would still be able to pay their respects to her.

Caligula slipped away from the gathering so that he could dig up his daughter's bones and carry them off with him.

Azriael has seen enough - more than enough. He’d hoped to find the Brook fought for, and honestly - he wanted Aquila to win. After the raid the umber lion had barely kept his mouth shut, hanging on by a thread in some foolish attempt to see what Wolfgang had seen in this barbaric pride and its king. Whatever it is, Azriael is blind to it, and watching Aeistrios maim a child is the final straw to break his resolve. From the shadows, the lion watches as the Brook is handed over to a Plains lion without a fight, and there is nothing else to be done. With a low, furious huff, Azriael turns and leaves - heading straight for the Plains, to give Wolfgang the verbal beat down he deserves.

There was so much to sift through as she stood there waiting for her feisty sister to lose finish her display of heroism. Truthfully, despite how strong she stood... her stomach was beginning to express in no kind terms that it was ready to eject what she had eaten that morning. Clenching every muscle in her body as she tried to fight the bile back, watching the stupid purple menace hurting her sister but yet she was powerless to stop it.

Aquila hadn't shown up, Cassandra nor Myrkvi had shown up -- she and the rest of her siblings reduced to nothing because of their absence. In this moment she didn't have a whole lot of anger to give to that situation but instead was focused on simply waiting until her sister's captor would relinquish his hold on @Freyja.

The very second that she was cast aside and her opponent turned away to focus elsewhere, the girl was quick to scoop in to rally her sister's body. Moving to try and hoist her up as best she could whether she was conscious or not before looking to @Khal for assistance in getting Freyja to what was unexpectedly going to be their new home.

Eyes were quick to look to @Eisa and in them, it was clear that her will was breaking. She couldn't do everything and never could her red-coated sister, they were helpless because their elders had made them so. With a hard swallow, she attempted to move out of Vermeda permanently with her sister and uncle in tow. Not without first chuffing to any Vermedans, they they were welcome in the Summit because no matter what, they would look out for one another. At least she would in the only way that was possible to do.

Aside from getting parts of her family to safety, the only thing she knew now was that Vermeda was not home any more. That this new High Sovereign, Lachesis Peitho, had taken over. He had not stopped the purple male from hurting her baby sister but he had let everyone have the choice to go instead of keeping them prisoner. The thought should have made her quite happy and yet, the blood upon her sister's body told her otherwise. So for now she simply had to stay in the present and try her damnedest to travel alongside Amara, the leader of the Bluffs, and whoever else up into the Summit safely. exit analia w/ freyja

Pure undiluted rage simmers in her heart, perhaps taking root and sprouting there as she watches the plum bastard maim her cub sister. She knows she wants to distract, so that Analia can get Freyja away- to safety, and so... She snarls in defiance and rage, and when @Aeistrios speaks to her, her tail lashes as she rises to her paws. She growls, her voice low- eyes flicking between the plum male and the male who had sought to destroy their home by uprooting the throne @Lachesis

"You will both pay, with your lives." She said darkly- a death's promise to both of the males from a female who had never wished to become a creature of war. She stalked forward, aiming to come nose to nose with Aeistrios. "You maimed a cub. My sister. I'll repay the favor soon enough." She promised, as she turned her back on them- effectively snubbing the two males with the biggest display of disrespect she had left to her- and stalked away, towards the Plains.

She'd remain there for now, but she would bide her time to make Aeistrios and then the new ruler of the Brook pay for everyone they had harmed, and everything they had done.

As ever, his sister isn’t far. Leonie joins his side, and Scorpius presses into her shoulder. Leeching her support, sharing the dower mood. He thinks this can be nothing but terrible news for the shaky stability of their pride and family.

But she tells him… something interesting.

Scorpius spares a glance her way. "He isn’t wrong, is he?" He muses, his lips splitting into a quick, sharp grin. With the fight not happening, others begin to dwindle away. The king shakes out his mane, and stands. "Maybe our dear uncle deserves a visit later, hm?" But not yet - no. He and his own sister would have to discuss things in more detail before Scorpius graces these borders again.

Every strike against the girl was a lash against Khal's own skin, to watch her face the consequences of her actions against such a brutal man. Khal wondered if that was how he'd made his own kin feel when he tended to pick the biggest thread on the field long before he could handle them. Apparently, as @Eisa threatened her own death-sentences as well, that it ran in the bloodline. He frowned as he waited for @Analía to assist as much as she could when the fight finally ended.

It was going to be a long trek up the mountain, and a depressing one at that. Khal would trust Voluspa enough to keep her head down until he returned, but it still worried him to leave the Brook behind knowing she was still somewhere nearby. He half hoped she had gone searching for her kin again as the reality settled upon him that the Brook had fallen. He hoisted some of @Freyja's weight on his own body before moving out with his nieces. He didn't look back. exit khal

Thorin found himself hiding behind some bushes. His silver gaze peered through the leaves. He expected someone to come and fight the man who laid claim to his home. His mother, his father, Aquila… Someone…

Nobody appeared…

His eyes narrowed and he watched as his sister got beaten by some large purple lion. All together his world came crashing down, but at the same time, all he could feel was anger.

This guy came in and took Thorin’s home as his. He refused to be afraid though, and he didn’t want to ditch the place that he had known all his life. No, he was going to stay. His family could run and leave like cowards, but he was going to stay. Who knew, maybe this Lachesis guy would actually make Thorin strong too. So one day, he could stay and become just as strong and fight for the Brook. Unlike everyone else, who abandoned it.

As if having a concussion and losing his first real fight was not enough, now he lost family and his home. The teenager was a ball of emotions, mostly rage, and he approached the group that had gathered. Narrowing his good eye upon the new king he frowned deeply, he was much too big to take on right now. But Elysian would be back, one day, to reclaim his fathers throne. To reclaim the death site of his little sister. With a disgusted growl he turned and left to head to the borders of the Brook. Once there and far out of sight and smell of the group,he scraped a warning into the earth before proceeding to mark it in his scent. A reminder for this usurper that he would be challenged one day. Skulking off into the neutral area around the brook Elysian left his birth place, no longer a place of peace and sanctuary.
