~Maven is open to being attacked~
The recent weeks have been marked by a sickening ball of ominous dread weighing heavily in the pits of Maven's stomach. Between her mother's abandonment of the Summit (of her family) and her father's news that a strange war was coming, the yearling has existed in a rising state of tension. She flutters through her busywork with an unusual fervency, preparing for the move that was soon to come while ignoring how her forced busyness distracts her from the bitterness determined to claw its way up her throat.

It doesn't quite distract her from the call for aid that echoes from the forests below the mountain. The string of dread draws tight, her heart sinking like a stone within her chest, but still she stubbornly keeps focused on her menial task of discarding the bones of her old meals off the cliffside.

It doesn't quite distract her from the resounding pleads that follow the first, bouncing around her skull like an aggressive bee. It doesn't distract her at all from the monochromatic blur that is Queen @Morrigan, the impressive yet terrifying sight of the regal woman charging down the mountain like wrath incarnate. Maven cannot ignore it. She cannot deny the reality that she'd lived amongst the Illyrian lions for almost as long she could remember. She cannot wave away the prodding of her conscience. Could Maven truly abandon those good souls who were suffering?

No. She would not be like her.

Yet as grand as her decision may have seemed, the reality is that the yearling has no clue how she could possibly help the vicious situation she discovers in the forest. She skids to a halt, crimson eyes widening at the overwhelming everything that she sees. There is Morrigan, and @Isla ♔, and even the young man with the skull mask, and all of them are caught in the throes of war, just like everyone else here. Furious snarls and pained yelps fill her ears, and the scent of iron floods her nose, and in the blink of an eye she sees an old memory laid over the scene - her father, a gaping hole in his face, streams of crimson trickling down, down, down...

She falters, branches snapping beneath her weight as she stumbles back against the tree line, too disoriented to even dare think of charging into the bloodshed like her pridemates had so bravely done.

CAPUCINE

Capucine had never witnessed what war could do to a home, what raids and pillaging could do to a peaceful place. She didn't know what she was getting into when the calls first came about, all she knew was that she needed to help. She had sworn her loyalty to the Summit and even though she had been warned of what was to come, that her life might not be easy if she stayed, she had been willing to accept that. The individuals in the Summit treated her with love and respect, why would she not go to war for them?

The scent of her sister on the air spurs her into a faster run, blindly crossing into the brook to search for @Maven. There are fights everywhere she looks and for a moment Capucine is stunned, not knowing where to turn or what to do. Ruby gaze ends up locating her sister a few paces back from the fray and she bullies her way through the mayhem to come up alongside her. "Maven!" She yells, catching her attention. Leaning her shoulder against her sister she locks gazes with her, trying to use her own body to block out the chaos behind her in hopes of getting her sister to snap out of the fear that had a tight grip on her. "If you see someone that needs help, do whatever it takes to get them to safety." It was the right thing to do and so Capucine decided to ride the wave of confidence that moved through her. Sweeping her gaze from Maven she would survey the crowd, claws unsheathed as she stood, waiting and prepared for whatever might come next.

ooc Castus would frown when the lion began to speak, "Is there not another way to prove your loyalty?" he asked, why couldn't they talk first? Why did they always have to resort to the use of claws and teeth before considering their tongues might have more weight. @Parvarti came up alongside him and he twitched a bit in surprise, but welcomed her reassuring touch. Glancing worriedly to his sister though he was about to speak to her to leave and get to safety when things spiraled rapidly out of control. @Raizel begged him to defend Darcy and someone came to challenge for Parvarti, he could not defend both! So when @Morrigan came he grunted a thank you before he turned to face @Wolfgang and made his charge. Ears flattened to his skull to hide within the grey confines of his mane, the feathers by his left ear flowing behind him. Claws out for traction, he attempted to smack Wolfgang across the face with his right paw swinging up and down. Meanwhile he swung his backend to the left a bit to try and position himself at a angle towards Wolfgang's right shoulder. Jaws opened he attempted to seize the mane of the mane on the right side of his neck. Tail lashing behind him to aid in his balance while he kept his three remaining limbs steady on the ground to hold his balance. Eyes narrowed to protect them from any assault coming his way. Castus was sick and tired of the violence, he wasn't going to stand by anymore silently. Elysian hadn't expected her to fall beneath him, but when she did he felt a twist in his gut of satisfaction. However her falling forced him into a awkward angle, he was towering over her while leaning forward and down. Thus his jaws missed their intended target, but when he tasted blood from her shoulder he couldn't help but press onwards. Elysian was quick to move to try to pin her beneath him on her side, the paw that had sliced through her flesh on her rump was now moving to attempt to pin her to the ground by the shoulder. Jaws meanwhile snaked forwards to try and grab the woman by the side of the neck firmly. grunting in pain when he felt her left hind paw scrape her claws down his side and towards his inner back leg. It would scar, but if he could keep her on the ground then he would take the scars she gave him in pride. Ears flattened while he kept his eyes narrowed, his tail lashing behind him to aid in balance.

Once the borders come into view - and scent - it’s clear something is wrong. Cassandra does not lead, Aquila does. Azriael hurries, trying to find Wolfgang among the ranks, but fails before everyone crosses the border. He falls back, and by the time he arrives chaos has already erupted.

War and fights on all sides, bloody cries and the smell of gore. He is not scared; he is too old, too used to this scene, for fear to stop him. But he is angry, frustrated. Azriael moves through the pride, unable to bring himself to start a fight, to claim and steal and take from a man who had been good to him in his limited way.

He finds Wolfgang, nearby a Plains lion fights the Summit for a lion who had been speaking to his mate. He could join that and even the odds, but… he wants the Summit to keep their member. As ridiculous as he found the Brook… did they deserve this?

A big, scarred lioness barrels in to protect her pridemate, trying to take Henrik’s attention for herself. Azriael moves quickly, attempting to come at Parvati’s side and bap her on the shoulder while - hopefully - his own pridemate is distracted by the warrior on his ass.

"Fight me." He orders, putting no weight in the blow he sends her way.

He’ll help. He’ll do his part.

He never promised to be any good at it.

She peered around in mischievous searching, her nerves alight with adrenaline as utter chaos unfolded around them. There were bodies flinging on every side, whirring through the brook which Anniston would only come to know for war rather than its infamous peace. Then, her eyes caught something – someone – and her stomach sank with dread.

"A pox upon ye and yer kind," the lioness hissed, the moonlight catching her pale markings so that she glowed like a skeleton. Ew, not that one, not that one! The girl pleaded internally, quickly trying to avoid eye contact. Was she getting closer? Anniston was not subtle with how she tried to look anywhere else, hoping perhaps this creepy cryptid would find a new target.

"Ye not be takin' her today." Her skin crawled.

"Ugh, I have to!" She argued. Anniston finally relented, turning her fuchsia gaze to meet her just in time to see a paw whirling directly toward her face. "Wuh – !" She choked, instinctively trying to pull her head back, though she was far too late. Her claws ripped across the right side of Anniston's muzzle, staining royal velvet with seeping crimson as the first blood was spilled. She pitched her ears back as the acute pain reflexively brought water to her eyes, her chest igniting with spurned fury. The things I put up with.

Ridding herself of hesitation, Anniston barreled forward in an attempt to knock her left shoulder roughly into the other lioness' chest. She parted her jaws to reveal pristine ivories, trying to snap them greedily at the right side of the ghost's neck.

The big guy is taken by the time the giant arrives, blood running hot in his veins as he takes in the sight of the raid. A familiar, welcome scene - pity its against allies of the Summit. Ah, well. Such things happen. And Roarke is… more than ready for a good, hard fight.

And this had started with a claim - an attempt at stealing away a girl from her home. So Roarke arrives with a plan and very little remorse. The Plains wants to steal? He can steal, too. What else is an old pirate good for?

He finds a nice, open spot for himself and sets his eyes on the invaders - then he lets out a demanding call for their queen. Surely that will get him what he wants.

It was almost enough to make him quiver with joy. A glint of satisfaction flashed through Rugær's eyes as he felt his claws meet the soft flesh of the male's pale chest. The pungent scent of blood was already thick in the air from others locked in battle, but there was a freshness to it now as that of his opponent came out to join the rest.

His paw dropped back to the ground in time to help brace Rugær for the impact to follow. The colossal beast landed a paw upon his right shoulder, digging into the muscle with ease and causing the dark fur there to turn glossy with his own blood. A bubbling snarl, though whether it was one of rage or pleasure was up to interpretation. Rugær retaliated with parted jaws aimed at his opponent's left forelimb, attempting to catch him by the wrist or paw.

From the moment that his allies had called for them, Jafar had made his way towards the call with haste. Not enough so to barge straight in, no -- enough so to keep his distance and look for opportunity. Most everything seemed to be settled out, partners pairing up and he was briefly reminded of the raid or whatever it had been that he had participated in so long ago. He remembered a woman but couldn't remember who she was or what she had looked like. So as he looked to each and every battling individual, he eventually found someone that had yet to find a proper partner. A lion -- wait a minute, he remembered this girl from when he had gathered information from the Plains' meeting. The eyesore of a lioness that literally looked like a rainbow. Of course.

So Jafar stretched his body out and began his intent from a distance. Weaving through a small amount of the ground with an agile jog before throwing his large-sized paw out into the air and attempting to throw it down on the left side of @Hexa's face with his claws extended. @Heloise would not be taken today if he had anything to do with it and he was going to make sure that she at least had a fighting chance to stay put. Not everyone would remain in the Brook today but he was going to do his damnedest to try.
