It was the sound of fighting that drew her in. Asteria was nowhere to be found, but Della followed the scent of her sister and didn't think much of the fact that mama wasn't here. Mama avoided situations like this most of the time, but Della was fiercely curious. Through the desert towards the growing crowd, wondering why they were all the way out there. Then she spotted the lush oasis just behind the fights that were happening and it made a little more sense.
What she found when she arrived was sheer chaos. The scent of blood was heavy in the air, and Della swallowed hard, summoning her bravery as she slunk up beside her sister.
"They're so angry," she whispered to her twin over the din, watching the vicious fights happening before them. They all seemed to be out for blood, or death... "Do you think these are the family mama talked about?" Della didn't know any of them by sight.
"This must be the desert pride, hey?" A nudge as she gestured towards the glimpse of water behind -- "kinda a neat hideaway!"

and that meant that elsie wasn't far behind. or, tried not to be. in reality she was so darn anxious that she ended up arriving long after all the ruckus had erupted, just in time to see sawyer scrambling away from another cub and an andal woman. without thought the tiny creature is loping towards her daughter with her name on her lips -- "@Sawyer!" -- hoping she can hear her over the chaos.
elsie hasn't even realized who is here, or what's going on -- she just wants to get to her daughter!
your fragile heart feeds my contempt
His throat locks up, thinking he had killed her, but looking her over it seems there is only extensive damage to her scruff and not much else. The beast jerks back, breathing heavy. He didn't remember...didn't remember trying to hurt her - all he could remember was pure, unadulterated rage blinding him to everything around him.
Reality came crashing down hard around him, battles and violence - another war. Just a few moments prior to Anthonius' attack, everything had been controlled. Justifiable. Yet now? Now it was over...the Savante would be hunted down like dogs. Seething resentment bubbles in his chest, blue eyes dancing to his brother and lingering on him for a split second. In this moment...he did not wish his brother victory.
He could pay for his own actions. Just as he would.
Attention shifts back to Levana, his chest tight as she lay there. Bloody jaws slowly close, a sinking feeling swarming him and causing his stomach to twist and turn sickly. Stepping back, his brows furrow - knowing what awaited him. He had damned himself, and the only hope to renew his soul was...something that made his skin crawl.
Why had he done this? Why had he attacked someone who was supposed to mean nothing, why had her words cut so deep? Dragos had been a child when he'd been forced to engage in the wars - Levana had yet to even be born. For her to imply his loyalty and pride to fight for his family was anything BUT honorable...
When all she had done was turn her back on them and disappoint them.
Jaw clenches tightly, choosing to not maim the girl any further than he already had. Given a proper healer her scruff would heal just fine. It was clear that even in his rage he had held restraint, otherwise...perhaps she would be dead. Turning to walk away, to never lay his eyes on her again - Alexander was done with this.
/exit Alexander unless stopped!
Before he can even realise what is happening, the older piebald man launches for his queen and Rainhart's eyes narrow. It is a vicious assault he doesn't expect. It meant his purpose here was not being upheld - he had come to protect @Levana, after all. Rainhart moves aside as the battle is quickly raged in a matter of furious moments, looking for an opening.
He sees the dark shape move from the corner of his eye to attack another of the earth-smelling group but Rainhart pays that little heed - his sharp eyes are only for Alexander. With so many fighting bodies, Rainhart cannot remain still as the dark form of the Firnen queen falls limp, and in that moment Rainhart isn't sure if she is alive. One wrong twist of the neck... life was such a fragile thing.
It is with unnannounced intent and a brisk efficiency Rainhart charges forward to engage Levana's attacker, refusing to allow him to leave. Raising his right paw he aims to slam into Alexander's left side ribcage with a mighty, slashing blow of his claws. Simultaneously Rainhart attempts to sink his jaws into the man's upper left-side back behind his shoulders.
He instinctively narrows his eyes, flattens his ears and swings his tail out to his left to counterbalance his raised right paw.

The words are yowled from the lips of Haider in a way he had never sounded - through an emotion he had never felt. Helplessness engulfed the dark boy, his gaze watching as the unknown man of the Hollows harmed his precious mother.
His mother.
He had arrived late to the ordeal - breaking strict orders to remain at home to come and see this dilemma. Father, @Ryker , was not far and he hissed at him with urgency. "Dad! Come grab her!" He instructs as he sees another Firnen member throw into battle at the one who had just harmed @Levana .
He nears her with softer movements, eyes wide and teary as he stares at her hurt frame. "Momma? Momma?" He asks over and over, his heart breaking at this sight. He moves to guard her face, as if his small body would be of any help, but he does it anyways. He had always been a momma's boy, always so protective of Levana - and he hadn't been here.
He vowed that man would see ruin for harming her.
She hadn’t been the first to disobey orders and sneak out of the territory, but when she @Haider go… Well, she’d be damned if she stayed back home like a good child. She hadn’t exactly tried to hide that she was following him, but she didn’t go out of her way to approach and chat with her brother on the way. In truth, her plan had been to hide on the outskirts and watch Haider get in trouble. As they arrived just in time to see their mother being thrashed around, though, all thoughts of that plan immediately left her. Getting scolded seemed small and insignificant in those moments where she wasn’t sure if her mother would move again. When Haider rushed to @Levana she was not far behind. Standing near her brother, she turned to face the opposing group (or whoever she assumed the opposing group to be, based on where they’d stood when she watched the final moments of the fight) with a not so ferocious hiss, all the fur along her spine standing on end. She didn’t cry for her mother like her sibling did, nor would she ever admit to the tight feeling in her chest at seeing Levana on the ground like that.@Ryker |
The girl lags behind, not in too big of a hurry, because she wouldn't want to get in trouble if spotted by her parents at whatever this meeting was. But the sounds of real battle are too enticing not to follow, and then a sound she cannot ignore sounds through the territory, sounding like an emergency siren, she feels her fur stand on end as @Haiders wail breaks past the other noises.
Paws quickly carry her across the landscape, her little chest heaving as she wore her little legs out, not used to this far of a trek, she stops a bit away, trying to see exactly what happened. @Rainhart is launching himself at a large red male, her father is poised and ready to attack, and...
""Momma?""
Her eyes land on the crumpled form of Levana, her paw lifts up to take a shaky step towards the form of her mother, her brother already moving to protect her, she spots her twin and snaps out of her trance, just long enough to run and take up @Iskras flank, her head lowering like she'd seen her father do, her lips pulling back in a fearsome (not really) snarl.
