It was obvious from the moment the huntress had arrived that this was going to be one of those challenges. Scraps of violence break out here and there along the borderlines, as the lions of Wolfbron held firm in maintaining their right to support their challenger's cause. Did the Andal King truly believe that he owned all of the desert? Was he arrogant or merely naive?

It makes for a fine showing either way. And when the aura of her own contempt provokes a maroon, slavering beast of the Oasis to charge against her, Myra welcomes it.

Tension takes hold over her lean muscles when she catches sight of Walpurgis's rather obvious approach, a snarl pulling her dark lips back to greet the bestial woman with a sneer. The huntress hops up to her feet, spreading her limbs wide in a practiced stance atop the sand with her golden toes splayed wide, more than happy to face this threat head on.

When Walpurgis moved to throw her hefty arms around golden shoulders, Myra would fling her own right paw out and up in an attempt to jam it right into the larger woman's throat, hoping to use the beast's momentum against her. Instinctively, the huntress would turn her face down and away from the flashing teeth, redirecting Walpurgis's fangs to catch in the already torn and ruined remnants of Myra's right ear.

The pain, both real and remembered, sizzles and bursts into anger within her veins, and Myra would snap her own jaws forward half-blindly through the red haze, attempting to bite into the muscle on the left side of Walpurgis's neck.

Why do pride challenges become personal vendetta's indeed. Louve's gaze slips to the summit heiress for a moment with a wry twist of her lips -- "je ne sais pas" -- and an i don't know. Her family had risen to defend family in the past, but this was not the same. Louve would expect the Oasis to retaliate, but that would not stop her from being here to support Helah in her quest.

Helah had become family, and what was more important than family?

Faustine would come to watch and Louve would not stop her. It was the way of the land and those that lived within. Did that mean her daughter was to blame for being attacked? Or herself? Sounds a little too much like victim blaming, if you asked her.

All of it is a moot point, though, when she is thrust in to her own fight. The lioness who snarled and sneered turned filthy before her eyes, and her nose wrinkled in disgust. "dégoûtante." she spat -- disgusting. for a second she sought @Pyracantha's eyes and gave a sharp command "watch 'er" before she gives the dirty creature of the oasis her full attention.

Minerva launches forward and Louve makes no attempt to get away. Instead she watches her opponent advance, waiting until the last possible moment before she sweeps her left forepaw across the sandy ground -- potentially scooping up the disgusting mess that minerva left behind -- and attempts to spray the sand and ick right towards her pretty eyes.

Gross.

This means that she takes the full impact, stumbling back slightly and hoping that the moderate bruising that results from it will be worth it. Teeth flash towards her face and Louve instinctively jerks away, feeling them scrape through the top layers of flesh at the bottom of her chin. Without wasting any time she retaliates, launching the sharp claws of her right fore towards the tender left cheek of her opponent, attempting to sink them deep and drag them down, allowing gravity to do some of the work for her.

We agreed on muscle damage/permanent limp!

The Heiress pulled and yanked, ripping her own shoulder on her enemy’s teeth. Her goal: free her shoulder, even if she had to sacrifice some comfort. She managed to, yet the damage she caused herself — in addition to any thrashing @Amara gave her — was worse than she’d expected. Léonie knew by the pain that exploded under her skin as muscle and skin was slashed open under her opponent’s teeth, exposing the severed flesh to the desert air. It filled with the scent of blood as it poured down her mangled shoulder and onto the sand below. More spilled when she stumbled back with a snarl — having escaped Amara’s bite — nearly toppled over, her maimed shoulder unable to hold her. The dark imp leaned onto her healthy limb in time to catch herself — barely saving her the embarrassment of crumbling at the elder lioness’ paws.

However, when she looked up, she saw Amara had not escaped completely unharmed. She may have won, yet Léonie was pleased that she’d managed to spill her enemy’s blood — perhaps not in equal amounts, but some was certainly better than none. “Hungry?” she mocked, her expression pained yet mischievous and wild. “Drink it up while you can, ‘cause that’s the last of me you’ll ever taste.”

Carefully, the Heiress pivoted on her paws, her tail flicking low over the sand in rising frustration. She refused to hobble away from the challenge while her brother was engaged with their enemy, and had not yet shed so much blood that she was faint. Rather, she stood in place and breathed in deep, announcing, “Ah, the sweet stench of HYPOCRISY.” Léonie, in spite of her wounded status, would not be silenced. “My brother and his wife are found near the Bluffs as children following a blizzard, and you try to maim them, but I seek to remove one during an attack on my home, then suddenly it’s ‘Think of the kids’.” She could’ve rolled her eyes at the double standard. Léonie may not have known the complete story, yet she trusted Scorpius’ word, especially when it came to the Dieudonné.

The sound of nearby violence finally lured her attention away. Léonie looked over and found @Minerva engaged with another enemy. She inhaled, noting the stink of pee, and made an educated guess — one that had her laughing through her pain. @Walpurgis and @Kireena were busy too, as was the Savante lioness, @Teodora. She was pleased to see the pride defending its territory, but found the response from @Alexander ♔ lacking from a supposed ally. The Heiress would seek Scorpius’ opinion on his fair-weather friend later.

Annoyed as she was with the Savante Sovereign, she needed the aid of his son, @Dragos. “Hey, you,” she called to him, smiling through her weariness as the adrenaline in her system bled away. Those dark lids fluttered sleepily over her hazel eyes, her exhaustion becoming more evident. She needed someone to lean on before she fell over, and he was huge and handsome. “Can a girl get some help?”

Anthonius had grown used to the idea that there was never a day that went by easy anymore.

Not in these lands, it seemed.

A challenge for Andal rose to the skies - and from Wolfbron of all people. He felt his skin prickle with anger, shoulders rolling as he forced his paws forward. He knew he needed to be witness to this - their allies were involved. Directly being attacked for their home. Wolfbron was well hated on his list - he was ready to defend those his family was close to.

By the time he arrived, the crowd was large. It didn't take him long to find his family, eyes glaring at those of Wolfbron scents, and the Mire alike. @Alexander ♔ was swift to deal out instruction, but his words brought Anthonius' ears swiveling forward with surprise.

A ceasefire. To Wolfbron.

Anger, irritation, confusion; all the emotions built within him. Why the hell hadn't he heard of this before now? Why did Alexander make such an important decision, alone? That was not how they were supposed to operate. Anthonius would never of allowed him to go forward with that, not if he'd been given the chance to be a voice.

But it seems he was being muted.

Disapproval showed in his eyes as he looked upon his brother, shaking his head at @Alexander ♔ before turning away. Ignoring him. He would not be nice to those whom had hurt his family, they deserved no ceasefire from him.

@Dragos makes a valid, and very pointed statement, and he listens as the Andal Heiress announces the war the Dieudonne were keeping alive by these actions. @Scorpius voices no one but the Summit and Hollow are welcome here - asking for help in removing the unwanted.

He'd gladly help in this.

Alexander sends Teodara into battle, and his gaze narrows slightly. He didn't want Wolfbron members to be attacked - fine - but if he dared Anthonius from pushing out threats to their allies, to their family, not of Wolfbron, more issues would be on the rise. In addition to this 'ceasefire' that he would not stand for.

He had spotted him - @Apollinaire . He'd seen him when he first came to the damned challenge, no longer wearing the scent of Wolfbron but still very much a family enemy. (and if he does wear the wolfbron scent, he does not waver in attack. not to him, this man who had harmed so many. ) His enemy. Growling, Anthonius nears him with enough warning to let him depart from whoever he might be, before attempting to charge at him with splayed jaws that sought out his neck, attempting to bite at him.

Elaine was aware that the healer was able to get out of the way but her icy gaze didn't leave the lioness in front of her. It didn't seem to matter and words were being tossed around by others but she wouldn't take the time to look. Elaine had been in enough fights in her life to know that focusing on anything else would cost her the fight.

The lionesses claws came toward her face and Elaine pushed forward, her teeth attempting to bite at the lioness's muzzle. The claws finding their way into the back of Elaine's head as she moved forward. There was a blur of fur and the scent of Jean-Claude joined the mix, followed soon by another that she didn't know. What a mess this was becoming. Elaine would always be up for protecting her pride mates but she liked her fights clean and without to many extras. She couldn't deny that she felt some pride that he would jump into a fight to help her since it had been a long time since anyone but her sister had aided her but still, it made things messy.

His claws miss their mark and rip through her ear instead, so he uses the momentum he’d built to carry his paw down and attempt to hook it into the flesh of the side of her neck. His teeth find her neck, and he attempts to bite down hard and clamp his jaws into her skin and hold her in place with it. Scorpius’s claws slam down on Helah’s paw, and he tries to dig his claws into the delicate skin between the bones, wanting to hold her still there as well - or make it painful to pull away. Even as her fangs dig into his neck, protected by his still-growing mane, the broken skin there is nothing. For one thrilling, all-consuming moment the boy thinks this fight might be over in seconds; the advantage is his, and as mature as she looks, there’s no doubt he can press down and end this -

Helah’s claws swipe down the inside of his leg, and it burns. The cuts themselves are not that deep, or fight-ending. Really, they’re light scratches. But the burn, that’s an all too familiar feeling. Scorpius has no doubt this bitch is of the same ilk as Cirilla; willing to use poison to gain an advantage they would not have otherwise.

Is this how low the Bluffs will stoop to eliminate his family, his legacy?

“Oh handsome, it doesn’t have to be personal.”

It’s always been personal.

Helah jerking her paw from under him brings Scorpius back to the present. Already, he can feel his veins beginning to burn up his leg, as the poison crawls into his body. It feels worse than the last time he’d suffered this. Faster, maybe. Something in his chest grows heavy when he realises he won’t survive this fight. His mission shifts from defending his throne to ensuring Helah is too weak to keep it.

Scorpius attempts to jerk Helah towards him with the grip he has on her neck - attempting to rip her flesh out of her neck if need be - and at the same time, shifts his weight to his back legs and lifts the paw that had been holding her paw and tries to slam it into her shoulder, claws seeking to dig and hook into her body. He wants her off balance.

The fight quickly turned from a simple match to a brawl as first one, and then a second joined in. Her snarl ripped from her breast in guttural warning as the male charged. She felt the bite to her left thigh - the fire as it erupted along the lines of nerves that engulfed the affected area. @Jean-Claude 's fangs sank in, and she felt the answering twitch as her muscles protested the grip he'd obtained.

His right front paw searched for her right limb, and she attempted to shift it slightly - to further balance and widen her already lowered stance. The sting of the talons as they scraped along her ankle was noted, but ignored as she tried to keep that leg out of his reach. She could hear the rage of another and only hoped it was someone on her side. Large she may be, a three versus one she doubted she would manage to win. @Teodora

As @Elaine ♔ answered, rose to the challenge, Kireena found her focus split evenly between the two Wolfbron felines. She snarled, dropping her skull as Elaine attempted to bite her muzzle, feeling the others teeth score across her forehead - she was sure THAT would leave a mark. Thankfully, the red giant wasn't exactly a vain one and carried her scars with pride.. Still - she attempted to rebalance her limbs upon the sands, as there was a lion using her hip as a chew-toy.. She didn't want to be caught with a leg off the ground.

Her jaws - lowered as they had been to attempt to avoid the others bite would attempt to snap towards Elaine's front right limb between elbow and ankle. Ears remained pinned to her skull, her shoulders forward to afford the loose and elastic skin 'round her nape to bunch and protect her spine. Her throat protected as she lowered her head in her attempt to snap those fangs closed on the woman's fore-limb.

@Léonie pulled and tugged against Amara's hold and Amara pulled and tugged back. Thrashing her head around, now fully intent on making it hard for the lioness to walk. Flesh started to rip away until it broke and Léonie fell away from her grasp. The shoulder tattered and blood spilling to the ground. Her golden gaze gleamed as she looked at the lioness stumbling away. The lioness still couldn't stop talking and Amara made a show of spitting out any lingering blood, flesh, and fur to the ground. Nasty taste. She smirked as she offended the lioness. Amara doubted it would be the last time that she would be digging into one of them but she would not take in the blood of her enemy until she is ready to kill them all. The lioness spun away from her and Amara started to look around to see what else was going on. Louve was being attacked, Elaine and Jean-Claude was there with her. Her golden gaze was wild as she looked around, Léonie's words hardly making it into Amara's focus as she looks at @Alexander ♔ as he speaks and seems to send another lioness into the fight that Elaine was in. Her gaze twitched but she said nothing. She took a step toward her healer when @Anthonius leaps toward @Apollinare who was doing nothing. He was behaving this time and was being attacked for things that should have been dropped. Her head snapped to @Alexander ♔. Call him off now. None of my family or members have been the first to attack. She growled as she started to move toward him. Call him off or you and I will end this now. @Louve ♔ had set this up and she would honor it until it was clear that the other side wasn't doing so. Amara was giving him once chance to pull his family member back in line. This didn't have to be personal but she could make it personal and then he would be a target, just like the bitch that she just tore into.
