The lioness was silent in her prayers as she made her own pleas while the lion sat in silent thoughts. He didn't know how his future was going to play out here and the High Sovereign could only count his blessings as each sun rose. Keligan looked @Lagertha as she finally spoke up and pointed to the drawing in the sand. I always thought that the destruction of Gaia was due to lack of faith in the lands but that's the furthest of the truth. I think the Ancient Spirits did it to scatter their residents and regrow the land from anew. I don't know if my family is still alive, not all of my siblings went back to Gaia like I did with my mother. But even she lived in a separate Clan than I did. Pausing, he looked up at the sky as some seagulls squawked right by the pair of felines on the sand. I wandered for over a year before I came across this place. His homelands too far away to ever imagine his family to ever find him again.

and yet, every regret

There was a moment of silence from the pale lioness as she simply listened. Sometimes that was all one could do. Listen and be there instead of talking too much. As sad as it was to hear of the destruction of his home, the faintest smile was on her lips as her mind was nudging her towards something that could make sense for why it happened.

"It definitely was not the lack of faith," she said quietly with a nod. "Perhaps it all came to pass because the Spirits wanted to show you and others the way to spread what's in your heart. To show you that Gaia is not just the land, but the people. That it will always be there in your heart." Her gaze wandered to the water, lingering on the waves as they glittered in the sun. "The Spirits brought you here for a purpose. Just like my Gods did me. And perhaps in time, some of those you knew will find their way here as well."

The blackened beast of a lion nodded slowly as the wheat lioness spoke, just as she had so graciously listened to him speaking. Perhaps. I can't hold onto a forever hope as the land is so far from here but there is still some. It could only be a matter of time on if someone from his family in Gaia showed up here. Keligan could only have wishful thinking. The waves continued to crash and lull against the shoreline as the two lions spoke with each other. You know, my mother lived outside of Gaia when my siblings and I were born. When I was a young adult, we decided to go back to her home land after my first wife died. My mother was already a widow from my father's death and her second husband died shortly after my youngest half-siblings were born. Pondering for a moment, he added, So we took our family, what was left of it at least, to Gaia. He just hoped in his mind that his mother survived the turmoil that ravaged her homeland. Especially because she lived higher up the summits in the K'omox Clan.

and yet, every regret

Listening quietly, she shifted in her position ever so slightly, her gaze still lingering on the waves while they spoke. "Hope, is what keeps us going when darkness threatens to overwhelm us," she said quietly, her gaze shifting to linger on the sand right in front of her paws.

"I'm so sorry you and your mother lost beloved partners." What else could she say? The pain of such losses was something terrible to bear and even with time passing, it would always be there. "You did what you could to protect who was left, to give them a good life in the land your mother knew best." There was always hope that things would turn out well, at least for him that much she knew.

For some there was hope to return to what was familiar, to be reunited with those they loved. But she knew that this would not be granted to her. "I never thought I'd leave my homeland. All I wanted was to grow up to be a warrior, to raid and conquer. But now I'm here...." Her voice trailed off as she lowered her head ever so slightly. It had been such a short time since she'd run from her home, since she'd come to Amaryllis, but nothing had changed. For all the kindness she showed, there was something else burning inside of her. Rage, hatred. And she didn't know if that would ever change.

The lioness listened to his words and provided comfort but all he could do was give a small smile. "It is such a life. There is nothing that can be changed about it and with Gaia turning to ruins, it gave me the opportunity to go on my long Journey. It brought me here and I met Sunder." And you. The words echoed in his mind but would never speak. He admired her abilities and strength but he hadn't had the talk with Sunder about being polyamorous or anything close to it. With his loss of chance with Caltáriel and then finding out about the love that Sunder shared the same as he had for her, his focus shifted entirely on his wife. @Lagertha spoke of her homeland and thinking she wouldn't have ever thought of leaving and he nodded slowly. He felt the same thing. Inside of her had the rage but outwardly, she didn't show it. Smiling slightly, he nudged her slightly. "Well, I'm certainly glad to have met you." Laughing, he shifted to stand and thought for a moment. "Would you like to do patrols with me? We can walk and talk. I feel like this dwelling on things would be better while doing other things." After all, it was the past and it was now the present. Starting to walk the borders, he listened to Lagertha speak more as they kept company. EXIT w/ chatting

There were always good things about something bad. A silver lining, rays of light in the endless abyss. All that mattered was finding them, seeing them for what they were. Even if that was difficult sometimes. "Fate brought you right where you needed to be."

A soft rumble escaped her when she felt the gentle nudge. "And I'm glad to have met you as well." Lagertha chuckled softly and stood as well, silken fur shimmering a little in the sun as she stretched slowly. "And sometimes it takes the mind off of things." With that she slowly walked by his side, content to walk and talk as they did their patrol.
