Even though Tulie had been promoted to Lead Scout for the pride, her passion was still in medicines. She had not been blind to @Renfri's pregnancy at the meeting and so the little brown lioness prepared herbs. One of them was the Devil's Claw roots that she had gathered from the Fields when Reah had first found her collecting them. She also prepared some of the Loctus Bean she had found in the Shores. Both would be useful for the Heiress during her birth, in which Tulie hoped that she would be allowed to help assist with when she was ready. Once it was decided which herbs to give, she gathered them up into a leaf and carefully brought them with her. Searching out for the Heiress, she was hoping to find her not too busy.

Handing ranks out to strangers wasn’t Renfri’s preferred method of filling the open spots in the pride, but they had needed to be filled, and she had hope that those who had been promoted would prove her judgment right. They could always be demoted if they didn’t fulfill their duties, and the ranks were all challengeable if ambitious newcomers came along and wanted to try their paw for the role. Still, she wanted to get to know the new Lead Scout, a recruit brought in by Reah. She had expressed other talents in addition to those that got her the position she held now, her experience as a medic having put her in a good spot for the Lead Medic role, if Renfri hadn’t already offered it to Willow. As she wandered the Plains, she spotted the dark lioness and shifted to begin moving towards her. "@Tulie." She called out, giving a nod of greeting to the scout.

The Mamutoi lioness would not be alone for long. As she was looking for @Renfri, the lioness in question soon showed up. Hearing the call from the Heiress, orange gaze turned to look for her. Seeing her approaching, Tulie tipped her head slightly. Her Otter skin pouch was draped over her shoulders but with the medicines she had started to prepare was only in a simple leaf, she didn't want to drop any. Flicking her tail behind her, she waited for Renfri to be fully approached before setting down the leaf on the ground and then setting her Otter skin pouch next to it. "I was hoping to find you." Smiling, Tulie looked at her and tried to gauge, without looking obvious, on how far along the Heiress was.

When Tulie set her pouch down, Renfri took that as her cue that they wouldn’t be walking and talking this time. Normally, she preferred to keep moving, patrolling borders, checking the food cache… But pregnancy had slowed her down in more ways than one, and the relief that coursed through her as soon as she sat was undeniable. “Well I’m glad we found each other, then. Was there something you needed?” She watched the way the woman looked at her, the assessing gaze that she kept polite and subtle enough, but based on the herbs at her paws, and her memory of @Tulie's other skills, she had a feeling this meeting was less about what the scout needed, and more about checking in on the future Saxe heirs within her.

The dropping of the Otter skin pouch was only temporary. The chocolate lioness risked losing the medicinal plants within the leaf if she held onto it longer. It needed to be prepared better and placed in something more sturdy. Looking around, she spied an animal's skull, likely from a previous hunt as the bones were scattered. Stepping over to it, she inspected it before picking it up. The skull would work for what she needed it for. Bringing it back over and placing it down, she then slowly nodded to @Renfri. "I won't keep you still for long from your duties."

Preparing the roots of the Devil's Claw and the seeds of the Loctus Bean from the leaf to the skull, she talked as she worked. "The Devil's Claw roots are for helping you in child birth and have more in my den drying out for use and the seeds are for helping prevent infections." Clicking her tongue, orange gaze looked at the Heiress with a small smile. "The Journeys and training I've taken and been given helped me learn to always keep stock of these. Shortly before joining, I had gathered these as my own stock was low." She had noticed that Reah also gathered some of the Devil's Claw but was unsure if the Sovereign knew about gathering the roots as well.

The cafe lioness continued to work on prepping the plants before opening up her Otter skin pouch with care. Taking out some dried white weed and nibima, which were marked by the wrappings of the neutral leaves and vines. She carefully opened the holders and took some of each plant out before packing the unused portion back away. Everything Tulie did was with care and precision. "These are for any fevers that may develop and anti-inflammatory to help with swelling of the uterus." Putting each one into the skull, she then tucked away her Otter skin pouch. She needed to gather some more herbs and plants later to replenish her stock and seeds for her garden.

She wasn’t given a proper answer on what the intention of the meeting had been, but from what the woman said, it was easy for her to understand that her assumptions had been correct. The scout assured her that she would not keep the Heiress for long, but Renfri waved off the concern. “That’s alright, I didn’t have anything time sensitive to get to.” Most of what she kept herself busy with could easily be done by Aeistrios and Reah, and she knew that her husband would be glad to hear she’d delayed a patrol to meet with a skilled healer to discuss things for the cubs. Plus, meeting with and getting to know the members of the pride was a priority for her, just as much as anything else. Though she typically did not care to listen to the healers talk about the herbs they used, she did find herself listening this time. It was her first pregnancy, and she’d not been close to any other woman while they went through the process. It was all very foreign to her, and though she wouldn’t say she was afraid, she didn’t like not knowing things, or feeling ill prepared for whatever was to come. “Uterus swelling… Is that dangerous?” Renfri had never been bothered by her size, but having the children of a man as large as Aeistrios… There was always a possibility for complications. @Tulie

While the Lead Scout worked on the medicinal plants and talked about them to @Renfri, the Heiress listened. While Tulie would not usually rattle on with these sort of things, she had known of pregnancies being dangerous for such small lionesses. The medical care and the medicines that came with the pregnancies that the extra small lionesses needed as they grew cubs were important. Tule had seen too many die in labor or succumb due to hemorrhaging after whelping. Normally the Mog-Ur would give a blessing to the birthing mother and cast prayers to the Ancient Spirits if the lioness was a First Mate to the Leader especially.

Due to this, Tule was highly superstitious and worried for the Heiress. Despite Renfri being a strong and abled lioness, the Lead Scout had seen the deaths during her training. Learning the differences between the herbs that could help save the lives of those who took them. At the question about the uterus swelling, she nodded very slowly. "When pregnancy with many cubs progresses, it can cause swelling to the uterus. This causes more blood to flow and risks hemorrhaging after birth. Please take this daily after the birth of your children. Only a tiny bit is needed at a time. I need to gather some fresh medicines for when you whelp to help produce more milk, they do best when prepared right after harvesting the plant."

Pausing for a moment, she added, "I understand I was given Lead Scout due to my skills but I was a Medicine Woman in my Clan back home. Our priority was to make sure that the Leader and his First Mate and family were always taken care of." Of course, the healers would help others in the Clan. But if there were two lionesses, one being the First Mate, whelping at the same time with only one healer available, it was required that the Medicine Woman would advice and help the First Mate before the other lioness also in whelp. No one questioned the laws of the lands as it meant banishment, exile and cursed life.

Orange gaze looked at the starry-pelted lioness, waiting for her to say something. While Tulie had not been the Head Medicine Woman in the Mamutoi camp she lived in, she was still expected to be just as efficient as the Head. With her Clan being a Camp that traveled between home locations, they had multiple Medics due to the vast size of the Clan. Her mind would do all of the calculations of what medicines were needed, how much was needed and how to administer it. In this case, Tulle's position served multiple options. She was not complaining about being the Lead Scout as her small, dark form served great purpose. And her healing skills would only be extended to her pride mates and their allies.

There had never been a time in her life were Renfri could recall being truly afraid, and she was determined to not let this pregnancy change that, but it didn’t mean she didn’t have her concerns. Her small size was something she liked to use to her advantage, despising when everyone tried to treat it like a hindrance or shortcoming. But again, carrying children of a male as large as Aestrios, who surpassed even most standard larger lions, posed a risk she had refused to consider until her abdomen had started growing at what felt to her an uncomfortable rate. Maybe it was normal, or maybe it was a large litter, or maybe she carried the weight in a more obvious way than a larger lioness might. The list of possibilities went on, but she tried to not dwell too much on those thoughts now. The things Tulie spoke of were concerns she hadn’t known about or considered, and she would add it to the list of things she tried to not think too hard about. She’d only pay enough attention to the thought to remind herself to take the herbs the woman offered. She nodded to indicate she understood the Lead Scouts instructions, but remained quite as she continued on to talk about her background. “I’m glad to hear that we have so many skilled healers in the pride, it comforts me to know I’ll be taken such good care of.” She had offered Lead Medic to Willow over @Tulie because healing was the only skill she had verbalized at the meeting, and the part of Renfri that trusted no one worried about having a recruit of Reah’s in the position. There was no real, valid reason for her to feel that way, but it was in her nature to be suspicious of anyone she viewed as competition. Not to mention the fact that she knew there was value in a scout that knew how to tend to their own wounds. If Tulie encountered trouble while out working on gathering information for them, she at least would at least be able to tend to herself until she was able to get back to safety.

It wasn't the intention to scare or jitter the Heiress with her medical talk, but Tulie had her own points to worry. @Renfri was polite and listened but the thing was that Tulie didn't question why she was given the rank of Lead Scout. While she was a Medic, her sneaking skills would come in handy. Her small, dark form would be easy to hide in the shadows and the depths. "Despite the job given to me here, gratefully, I'm only doing in addition of what I was trained to do back in my homelands." Old habits die hard after all. And this habit was one that would never die. But she also knew how important her tasks at hand were for the pride.

The woman confirmed that she was satisfied with her position, and was still happy to do more in relation to her other skills as well. Good. Renfri could appreciate a hard worker and could forsee @Tulie having a promising future within the Plains. “Know that you aren’t stuck where you are if you ever wish for something more, or just something different. I am sure you will do well in any role you pursue with a mentality like that.” She was glad she had met with the scout, and though there would always be a small piece of her that questioned if the woman would answer to Reah above her if it came down to it, she was satisfied for now. “If you don’t mind, I think it’s time I go find a snack and rest for a while. But please feel free to seek me out any time.” She would wait to ensure there was nothing else that Tulie wanted to say before giving her a final nod and making here way towards the food cache nearest to her den. -Exit-
