Lucien needed to both stretch out his legs and fill his belly, and what better way than to go on a hunt? He had been livin' the nomad life, takin' it relatively easy and wanderin' wherever his paws decided to carry him, but bein' on your lonesome also came at a price - huntin' solo. It wasn't difficult for the dun man, but it was nice to have that extra bit of help every now and again.

He'd pad across the fields, the cloudy sky blockin' the sun and causin' for the cold to be a bit more bitter. A gust of wind would buffet thick ebony mane, ears twistin' backward in an attempt to keep themselves warn in the hair. But with that gust of wind came a particular smell, one that brought hopefulness to the cowboy in obtainin' a meal. From the smell of it, it was still some ways away, so as he began to follow it with cautious steps he would also release a couple of chuffs, seein' if anyone was around that would want to come and join him.

Had she met this guy before? Nephthys genuinely couldn't remember, but it shouldn't have been terribly hard considering her rolodex of familiar faces was one lonely sheet flapping in the wind. It wasn't like she was a beacon of popularity or anything and more than that, she was rather introverted and entirely unimpressed with half the population of Amaryllis. It was difficult for a woman with such high standards to make friends, especially when she also had the personality of a cactus that had been lit on fire. It probably wasn't ideal for a future queen to be so prickly, but fuck it. She was who she was.

And who she was today was hungry, so she easily fell into place alongside the man and pretended her stomach growling wouldn't alert the prey.

Nearby chuffs of a hungry lion drew her in as she had been scoping out the fields, hoping to find some kind of flower that could survive these harsh island winters. Overhead, the clouds hung heavy and washed the colors of the land out with their grays. Azhira tried not to focus on that, and instead, lifted her nose to scent the air as she came upon the pair of lions already gathered. She offered a smile to each of them - likely a weird sight for both of them. She was used to lions not being used to a tiger rolling up to hunt with them - and that was alright.

She assumed they’d wait to see if more bodies would show, so Azhira crouched down into the grass until then, scenting the air here and there to see if those faint scents she found drew any closer.

Not far from the Brook was the Fields, a great place to hunt. Yet the worry as it was close to the lands of the Plains pride. Risk came with possible reward. As the pink Ranger made her way out of her pride's territory, she found herself upon the grasses of the neighboring territory. Hearing a chuff against the winds, ears perked up to find the source. Pink gaze glanced around as she finally spotted the lion who called. And there were two others who also gathered and she nodded to them. Lowering her form to the ground, she looked around to their possible target. Waiting for the signal to charge.

The fields were bountiful and the lioness found her stomach rumbling for action. Low chuffs carried on the chilly wind caught her interest and a grin formed on her inky lips as she changed her path. Even if she was a guardian first and foremost she was also a huntress providing her charge with food had always been an enjoyable part of her job and a good pastime. Fenna slipped into the grass as the scents in the air changed something was ahead of them, something to hunt.

The splotched lioness fell into place alongside the rest of the hunting party mismatched eyes glancing at the others. A pair of lionesses and a lion, not to mention the tigress prowling alongside them. No one was yelling beast so the Yu figured tigers hunting alongside lions was normal here. Which meant she too would just keep pace as they moved through the grass and snow. Fenna would gaze at the lion who had called them here waiting for the call to action. The sign that would start the hunt, the anticipation shining in her eyes.

A part of her knew that she shouldn't be away from her children for so long but she had checked the cache nearest to her den and realized it was a little lacking. Perhaps food had had to be thrown away and no one had thought to restock it immediately or maybe the winter was really wearing down on the Summit and they couldn't find a meal to eat and stash. That meant that leaving the Summit was necessary and so she disappeared southwest towards the open fields where it wouldn't be so cold and would be a lot less snowy to begin with. Though, as she approached she was quick to see that she wasn't alone. Automatically she wove her way to be the closest to the lioness that smelled of Vermeda (@Raizel) and offered a polite smile. If this lioness were friendly with her daughter, then she was a safe lion to be near.

Through the light snow within the fields, she tread across it carefully at a deep set pace. Legs stretching out in front of her as she sprinted, keeping her heart rate up and pounding while her muscles worked to keep themselves spry and prepared. While the exercise was most helpful long-term, it was also something that was keeping her occupied rather than sitting around and waiting for her new pride to deem her unworthy. Ember just waiting for that shoe to drop, metaphorically.

Though as she came to a halt she could see some lions gathering around in what looked to be in preparation for a hunt. So Ember drew herself along the outskirts of where they were all facing, moving to begin scratching her nails upon the bark of a tree to keep them sharp. In tune for what they were about to chase after, hoping that the sound wasn't going to deter whatever it was that they had set their sights on. She was trying to be nonchalant and invisible (it normally worked) so-to kept the noise from her claws as nonexistent as possible.

Her rumbling belly leads her here to the fields. She had been stalking a herd of antelope, surveying them and trying to pluck out which one was the weakest or smallest that she could pick off on her own. Crouched body creeps closer inch by inch, muscles tensed and ready to spring into action. But as she gets a little bit closer a couple of chuffs echoes in the air, causing for the herd to go on high alert and take off. With a low growl to herself, Leilani shakes her head before heading toward where the sound had come from. If this was a hunting party then she might as well make the one who made her possible meal run off help take down another one. She arrives and keeps herself low, tongue rasping across her lips idly.

Several lions showed and once they did, her sight was set nicely upon the large and well-fed buffalo that had apparently wandered in to get a good stroll in. Maua had most certainly encouraged its wandering soul to go forth into the fields as it was destined that they feast today. At least a few of those gathered, while the Summit could use the food -- she did not like to take from others, no matter where they were from. So Talisa listened for any instructions they might give to her before progressing forward in the take down of the large creature. Building her strength, stamina and speed as she did so. Only once it was felled did she bow her head to give a gentle prayer to their food, to their gathering and to Maua for thanks. Retreating back from whence she came, she hoped that each of them were able to grab a piece for themselves. exit talisa
