Prompt: A pair of duiker tempt fate by wandering to the poll of water in the Oasis to drink.

Nearby on a dune, with belly pressed into the sun-warmed sand, Léonie watched the pair with hunger in her eyes. From what she knew, the Oasis pride had not been visited by formidable prey lately, nor did they have a Lead Hunter to keep track of the herds when they needed food. That would need to be resolved soon, before their reserves dwindled. Unfortunately, the duiker below barely had enough meat on them to serve as much more than lunch, with no leftovers to set back for later. Still, Léonie was happy to have a warm meal, so she lay in wait for the perfect opportunity to strike.

Valerian is getting used to hunting on the sandy slopes. Although his dark pelt made blending in extremely difficult, it appeared this opportunity was a golden one. A pair of duiker, nervously approaching the oasis waters - swollen with recent rains. He lurked in the shadows of the winter greener vegetation, realising as he scanned the area he could see another figure. Ah. It was @Leonie - it made sense he had not initially spotted her, stealthy individual she was, and Valerian paused to await her signal. It seemed she had a better vantage point to look for an opening. He would follow her lead.

Wandering the Oasis at the hour, she began to follow the scent of some duiker's that had wandered a bit too far into the pride lands. How they slipped by the borders so easily was unbeknownst to her but it was clear that they wouldn't get a whole lot farther without someone seeing a meal. Zelda followed their little hoof tracks through the sandy terrain, easy to follow their scent and trail as it became easy to depict that there was not one but two of them. Making it all the more important that they take them down. Leading into the group and looking to both @Valerian and @Léonie in greeting before settling herself in to participate.

Lucanus had taken to tracing the borders of Andal of late, feeling a certain anxiety with the recent shift in leadership. Scorpius seemed a plenty capable dude, but it eased the young Savante's mind to patrol nonetheless. He did it today at a fast clip, enjoying the feeling of his body doing what it was created to do, healthy sinew shifting beneath the tight cling of his pelt.

His heart rate had just climbed to an elevated pace when twin sets of hoofprints in the sand stopped him short. More curious than hungry, he followed slowly after them, finding the small hunting party gathered before he spotted their would-be prey. Deciding to hang toward the back of the group for the time being, he sunk down into the sands to wait for the green light, gently panting as he did so. Gratefully it looked like he'd be able to catch his breath a bit before spending more energy.

Whee, a hunt. Or so he guessed, spotting the pair of prey down at the water's edge and the gathering of lions on a dune above. He was off to the side, unfortunately, and working his way around to them seemed like more effort than it was worth at the moment, though he did spot Zelda over there so it was pretty tempting to make the attempt.

Instead, he stayed where he was, waiting for the rest of them to start to move in on their quarry so he could join in, not wanting to accidentally scare off the food that had so willingly wandered into their home.

A new place to hunt! Oft was the Oasis too sandy to place prey for her ambitions. Water existed here, and the mirage/illusion of fish, but for warm blooded things she had to chase elsewhere with a negative success rate. Hunger, greed, and a desire for attention all sang together as one. She approached with her head raised, eyes switching between hunters and prey depending on utter whim, and her excitement and speed only grew as she approached. As usual there was no caution and the pair of antelope were too small to inspire even a lick of fear. They were vulnerable!

And so the scruffy lioness charged them. Slowly. By swimming and splashing. Not her fault the water hole was in the way.

Eskel would not intend to miss a hunt. Not when hunting was his favorite pass-time- but he noted as he scented the duiker that he thought they would end up with too many paws and not enough prey for those gathered. Yet, he assumed to help regardless. He was silent as he strolled towards the gathered group, dropping into a crouch to remain out of sight of the prey, as he waited for whomever was leading this hunt to give a signal- or for enough of them to gather so that they could ensure a smooth take-down.

Celestia meandered by the waters of the Oasis. She simply minded her own business, but as she looked throughout the territory she couldn’t help but notice some figures not too far off from the shore. Curiously she would walk over, though she didn’t mind taking her time as she got there. Finally, she saw many familiar faces, and the scent of some prey nearby. She stayed in her place for now, as she didn’t want to get closer and spook the animals. That would be rather embarrassing if she did… She remained quiet and glanced over at Angelo, moving closer and taking a seat beside him.
