Working once more on her speed upon difficulties areas she crossed a lot of flat land this time. It wasn’t as hard as loose hot sand or anything but it was a good run. Her body warmed up as she jogged clear the pools of water where in the cool autumn twilight the world was trying to settle down for the night. Slowing down after a good run she found herself hungry and so decided to see what she could find to eat. Getting low she scanned the land to see what was on the menu. She could possibly seek out one of the pink birds, but maybe she could find someone else out tonight looking for a bedtime snack as well. So for the moment she would wait hidden in the grasses as she studied her choices.

The darkening sky was a welcoming sight as the earthen woman laid near a group of trees. She wasn't particularly tired enough to sleep, more so relaxing and enjoying the cooler air autumn typically brought with it. Crimson eyes would blink slowly, watching the dark figures of the flamingos with idle interest. Her toes would flex, and after some time she was beginning to feel relaxed enough, eyelids becoming heavy, and for a little while Artemisia slipped off into a light nap.

She'd be awaken by the sounds of paw steps, folded ears twitching and twisting in alert while her eyes opened. Slowly rising to all fours, the lioness would give herself a good shake before investigating, and it wouldn't take her long to both spot and scent the unfamiliar lioness. It looked as if she were on the hunt, and this gal would never turn down a good hunt. So with a soft chuff to announce her presence, Artemisia would slip into a hunter's crouch, nostrils flaring as she sniffed the air, seeing what would be on their menu tonight.

Hunger was a constant thing, whether you kept yourself fully fed or lived off of scraps. It was what drove the hunter to the pond, followin' scents of several possible prey. Nose stuck in the air as he inhaled deeply, jaws partin' slightly to taste the cool air around him. Lucien had always been an opportunistic fellow, and when he figured out that the scents of prey had also attracted a couple of other lions in the nearby distance he wouldn't think twice about joinin' in on it. Dun frame moved as softly as his paws would allow, body crouchin' low and his tail flickin' to the side. His muscles would tense, feelin' the all too familiar itch of adrenaline coursin' through his veins, waitin' for the perfect moment to spring into action once their target revealed itself.

The savannah was an excellent place for opportunity. Feeling far more established in her skills as of late, Leila took to the fields in search of prey. She followed prints, deep in the recent autumn rains. The flamingo pond was not a common haunt of Leila's and she paused to survey the area as she reached the edge of the grasses. Flamingo weren't too tasty in her experience, so she ignored the gaggle.

A cursory glance revealed lions, though she was not surprised. Leila crept closer. That looked like a hunt waiting to happen, and she was always down for such a thing. She chuffed a soft greeting as she sidled up amongst the other big cats. A mauve, older lioness seemed the instigator. A brown lioness had gathered too, and a dun-toned lion. All older than herself, at best guess.

Yearling, Level 2 ranger (+1 to hunt rolls)

The fields was often a place she found herself, but in the ponds where the flamingos stayed.... she hadn't really explored this area that much. Yet, today Eisa found herself tracking some prints through the territory- her nose low to the ground. She had taken time to roll in some mud to cover her scent and help dull the bright fur that she had- and she finally lifted her head from where she carried it low to see a small group gathering.

A hunt!

Eisa's heart quickened, and she approached them- her eyes flicking to the tiger she recognized and it was @Leila that she approached with a soft chuff of greeting. She looked around the group and then waited.

she is out hunting for herbs, of course. she’d returned to the watering hole after the last hunt, eager to grab some of the plants she’d seen while there. cattails would be nice to have and so would the algae that grew along the top of the water, slimy though it might be. she is distracted from this, pulled from one activity to the other, as she realizes she isn’t alone here in the waning sunlight. close-by others begin to gather, surely for another hunt. eagerly faolán seeks to join them, but not before rolling in the dirt-sand mixture near the water. intent on hiding her scent as she presses closer, joining the group. a few of the faces are familiar ( most notably the tigress, who’d guided them to success so many times before ), and she chuffs softly before falling into place.

His legs are sore, tendons and muscles seemingly protesting with each step. The journey from the Oasis to here has been a tedious one for his still developing body, but with pride life being decidedly uneventful, he has taken it upon himself to strike out and explore more of the world beyond the arid and tiresome desert.

Looking past the pond seemingly colonized by flamingos, he can see some familiar faces gathering. He lifts his left claw and scrapes it down the length of a tree, only to do the same with his right. A small portion of the bark peels underneath his unsheathed claws, and he turns his attention to the group, not intending to get too close to the hunt unless he's needed.

the wolf prince is looking especially wolf-y today, as he lazes near the pond and gnaws on a bone. like a… well. i shan’t say it. the bone was probably leftover from a hunt long before, a little piece of discarded femur or something else garish. it soothes him though, gnawing on the chew toy as he does a whole lot of nothing. he could be back at the summit patrolling the borders or helping his mutti get around in her delicate, larger shape. but instead he’s here, intent on doing nothing much of anything. until, of course, he catches sight of one lion… then two…. then more. all gathering together, grouping up for something. and with how many hunts he’s been on recently, he’s got a pretty good idea. spitting out the bone ( and leaving it for the next wolf-child ), he trots over — happy to join them. beaming bright with a toothy smile, virgil settles in, ready to help however he could.

Not far from the Brook pride lands was the Celosa Fields and the area gave opportunities for hunting in more open space while staying relatively close to the pride. The pink Ranger was on the task of filling the caches for the growing pride, as she had promised Cassandra the first day they met and Raizel joined the Brook. The caches needed to be replenished for the upcoming winter months and with cubs in the pride, it was even more important. It was nighttime and she wanted to try something new. Most of her hunts had been during the day and Raizel wondered if she could blend better in the dark. The hue of her pelt was pink but it could be mistaken for the light of the moon. As she came up to the area, she saw @Eisa and went to approach her. Staying low to the ground, the pink Ranger made her way to the gathering hunting group. Wondering what they would be hunting that night.

it was at night he felt most alive. when one could not (would not) sleep they found many uses for the twilight hours -- tonight he had roamed far from the freeze in search of something more exciting than rest.

racing down the mountain brought a familiar burn to his limbs; he ignored the pain that throbbed up his barely healed leg. ignored, too, thinking of what she would think of that, and if she would scold him.

surely she did not expect him to be sedentary?

he arrives out of breath but satisfied, settling in to join the gathering group with a searching look. it sears as it skips past her and he breaths a soft exhale. "help us, bjorn. give us strength and speed so that we might fell our prey. let us feast tonight."
