It had been another hot day despite the coming of fall. Such was life in the desert. Camellia had come to accept this about their home in the Oasis, though truthfully she was more likely to be found sheltering from the sun in the family's cave outside the pride-lands now that it had been discovered. Still, she tried to be present within Andal as well, and so as the sun went down she emerged and returned to the Oasis.

It was shaping up to be a resplendent evening. Even before the sky had fully darkened it was already dotted with countless glimmering stars set against a violet hued backdrop. There truly wasn't a more beautiful place than the desert to gaze upon the stars. The evening was mild, a cool breeze blowing away the last of the day's heat.

Camellia was strolling through the Oasis, enjoying the evening. She was in a particularly light mood, and she called out for her pride-mates and family alike, whoever may be nearby. "Come, my friends." She sang out in her melodic voice, stepping up onto a flattish rock that elevated her above the surrounding sand. "Come, and hear a song of my people."

The desert heat was slowly becoming more and more bearable. Though still not wonderfully ideal at least she no longer felt like she was going to drop from heatstroke at every turn.
As the sun went down she had decided to be a little more adventurous. Lilliana slipped across the warm sands, noting just how quickly it cooled once the sun was put to rest. A large blackened mass caught her attention. What she could clearly make out as a boulder in the steadily growing darkness seemed a good vantage point. She made for the rock, coming to stand upon it for a height advantage. Yet even with the help of her perch she could not exactly tell what the structure was that she had spotted. But as her ears strained against the silence of the desert, the sound of trickling was made out. Well if there was one thing in a desert every lion needed it was water.

Lilliana made for the dark mass. And as she got closer she realized that it was far more massive than she had originally presumed. It was a mini plateau. What were those called again? A butte. Lilliana snickered to herself. Taking great amusement in knowing no one was around to witness her be just a little immature.
The young medic took mental note of the structures location. Now, where was the source of the trickling?

It was definitely nearby. Following the sound up led to a tiny pool of water. It's source was hard to make out in the darkness. But she was able to map that it seemed to be running down the side of the raised landscape. Milyen furcsa.. How strange..

New pride, new life right? New adventures and even more importantly new lions to meet! And the past weeks after her arrival, she had been doing her best to adjust to the new climate, one which was the opposite to the one she was used to from the Mire. But maybe changes were good for her, changes of ambient and climate.

Hot, the days here were hot. Dry and sunny. And with her long coat it was hard to endure sometimes, forcing her to act mostly at the evenings or early morning. Yet again she wanted to see it as a good change.

The evening was here, scaring away the heat. And when it did, she heard a melodic voice in the distance. Her eyes shinned as she rushed to find a woman on top of a flat rock. Was she going to sing? Great, she loved to hear others sing. She took a seat, in silence and with her full attention onto the woman.

It was awhile since she had been with her sister-family. She inches closer but sticks to the right far from reach but well within ear and eye shot. She turns and nods to @Camellia as her smile never breaks. She wasn't sure what was going on here today but if it was something that she too could speak about then when the time was right she would find a time and place for her to join in. For now she would see what Camellia had to offer them and why they were brought here. She had not the chance since she had arrived here in Amaryllis to put her tasks to good use, so perhaps if Camellia allowed she could test herself here and today about it. But for now she sat, sitting and waiting with a smile as her paw messed with her beaded stone necklace she wore.

A party in the making was a sure fire way to attract Csitri. After all of the tension and turmoil everyone had been through, hearing @Camellia and her melodic voice ring out was like a ray of sunshine. A bright grin flashed across the piebald's features as she rushed to grab some rather potently-colored berries and flowers. Snatching a sturdy half-coconut to mix her things in, she'd the bowl she'd filled in her maw and make a mad dash toward the gathering.

Setting the bowl down, she'd sing along with her aunt cheerfully from below. Her voice was nothing like the older woman's, but she enjoyed the singing either way. A little sway in her hips began as well, paws shuffling in a dance to the rhythm of the song.

The healer would let all of her worries fade away as she simply enjoyed the presence of her family and pride mates. This was what she'd needed. To throw her head back to the sky and sing her heart out while dancing like no one was looking.

Camellia was pleased to be joined by a small group of lionesses and a serene smile decorated her features. She appraised each of them kindly with a nod of greeting. There was @Caillen, a lioness as small as she whom she had not met but whose eager presence pleased the older woman. Camellia could also detect the scent of @Lilliana, and sensed that she was nearby. She hoped that she would show up as well. Next came @Silviana, her dear sister-daughter-friend, a lioness who appreciated beauty and spirituality who could perhaps join her in this evening of song and storytelling. And speaking of joining in; there was @Csitri! Alexander's adopted daughter and Camellia's favorite duet-partner. "Come, drahý, join me to sing the Hymn to Her." Camelia would say to the young lioness, inviting her to join her up on the elevated rock. The Savante would recognize the name of this song, for it had been sung for generations, and was well known among them.

Camellia would slide her paw, creating a rasping sound as she dragged an object held beneath her mitt across the rock. Pulling upwards, she would life it and give it a shake, sounding a grating ch-ch-ch, and producing one of the most spine-tingling noises in nature. For she held onto a sidewinder spine, rattle intact; a gift given to her by Balthazar. A melodic hum would rise from her chest, quiet at first but growing in strength, joining with the sound of the rattle and harmonizing with Csitri as they had practiced before. At the designated moment, she would begin her song. She sang the words in her native tongue, pausing between stanzas to allow Csitri to repeat the verses in the common tongue, so that all who listened could listen and appreciate the lesson that the song had to teach.

When the song was finished, Camellia ended on a drawn out note before her voice grew quiet. The rattle of the sidewinder tail slowed and then stopped and Camellia bowed her head, sending a silent prayer to the Mother. She offered her song and her heart to her, a gift to share and thus to honor her by.

Lilliana investigated her find further. Listening and watching as liquid trickled down the rocks and dripped into the tiny pool. Perhaps she would be able to see just where the water was coming from in the daylight. But for now she made a mental note of just where this structure was. To help with this further she moved to leap upon one of the formation's low ledges. From here she scanned the horizon, noting which side of the territory she was one and how far away this place was from other things she was familiar with.

As Lilliana made to leave, she reminded herself to be sure to share this with her mother. A clean water source out here at the base of a tall structure could be an excellent place to start a garden for Andal. That way they had some fresh stores within the Oasis and not just within their new family cave.

Ears pushed forward as a voice carried itself across to her as she neared camp. With a smile, Lilli bolted toward the small gathering of women. She came in quickly, taking deep controlled panting breaths as she slid in next to @Caillen.
The girl had always loved listening to her mother and cousins sing. She herself had never much good at it but she liked to hum along whenever it was a melody she recognized.

Things had been far too heavy lately and dark. Florentina was often clouded by the whispers of ancestors and spirits, happy to have any kind of escape from the world she was caught inbetween. At the sound of her sister's summons the bronze piebald would make her way across Andal. She only just arrived while @Camellia was in the middle of her song but it was a familiar one to her. Tina would not hesitate to raise her own voice, her vocals ringing out soft and melodic between her sister's breaks.

She would end with a smile, moving to take a seat below @Camellia, her heart thrumming with happiness from the song they had sung. It was a favorite of hers and though she wasn't nearly as great at it as her sister it still brought her joy to do so alongside her. "Beautiful, no?" She would say then to the other lionesses gathered, happy to be sharing such a moment with them all. It wasn't often that they could gather and relax like this, singing and enjoying the company of each other. It was a moment that she was thankful for.

Caillen Armour-Svend

Caillen waits nearly having it hard to be patient. She had never been with others who also liked to sing it pass on stories like her..and it felt nice to be around those with similar likes. A bright smiles took for on her wheat features. Attending this singing event felt so good and worthwhile. They spoke in a language she didn't understand, but it didn't matter. The song felt pretty on the melody still.

She tried to learn the song by listening to the others. It was fun to learn other things from other bards. A song that maybe could be sharing past stories, past walks of life.

Then she decided to try to sing along even if it might be hard to sing on an unknown language. But when had she ever been shy to try new things?

Camellia relished in the camaraderie and beauty of song as other voices rang out. Her daughter was among those gathered, and her niece. She was joined in song by Csitri and Florentina, whose voices lent a their own unique notes. Even an Andal lioness whom Camellia had not been fully acquainted with joined in, picking up the song rather well. Camellia would shake her rattle as each of the other lionesses voice their songs.

In her heart, she could feel the Mother's presence and she felt assured that She was pleased with them. As Camellia looked around at the friends and family gathered around, she forgot her troubles at least for that one moment. She sighed, smiling at each of them, savoring that rare feeling of contentment.
